I do play to win but I also like to do it with style.
Bonus health? With your team members combined against a Giant you have more health to start the round. Add in that you can switch in safely using a VAR on their huge bodies to regenerate your partner’s health and the difference is even larger. Gaining position? If you’re playing to win you should be staying away and chucking stuff.
And I guess we’ll never agree about what a fighting game is.
Fighting game = people/objects/robots/things hurt each other. Can’t get much more basic than that.
What the hell happened? Back in CGoH we had scrubs whining about the giants having ‘more health’ and ‘not being combo-able’. Then some of us actually tried to play the giants and found out that they are actually the most FRAIL characters in the game, and that not being comboed doesn’t really help them stay alive much longer. Not only that but they take some serious skill to win with. I remember back when all of us cheered for ll.nd’s PTX as it won that tournament.
Honestly, shut the hell up and sit down and play. This is TvC, not your bitch-ass street fighter or MvC2 or whatever. Stop being lazy and actually learn how to play or face up against something unusual for a change.
Oh and also, you don’t have to always run away from giants. In fact, against PTX that’s not even the ideal thing to do since it gives him free shoulder tackles. You should be taking chip, doing magic strings on his shins,and staying safe with baroque and 3C cancel.

I love this game. I mean…I LOVE this game. TVC is undeniably fun, and despite what the ill-informed may think it’s surprisingly balanced for a 2v2 fighter. Now… What I HATE is that our community is so pitiful and separated. I don’t know about the rest of you all, but here in Champaign, IL in the middle of a corn field I have no one to play against. I literally sit in my room by myself and play in Training Mode. It kills me to see the TVC scene so at each other’s throats over these silly trivial things. If no one takes the game seriously then why do we care? lol This game is hard enough to find competition for without further ostracizing members of the community.
Anyway, I don’t feel like contributing to the bickering in here, so I’ll close by sharing my YouTube page. I’ve been posting a bunch of footage of me (Flexo) playing EmptyShiki. Feel free to take a look and comment! :tup:

While I do not agree with your use of examples (SSF$ a little but MvC2 is the mecca of adapt or die) I do agree with what you are saying (only because I have said a small line in it.) Just play the game folks!! If the game is around in 3 years at a high level the giants will be the least of our problems!!!
@Flexo checked out the vids and if I can make it to SBR I would love to play you for some money, I would even put odds up if you start ryu first every match. LOL Nah but we should get some games in and I will play some PTX so you can learn that shit.

Man i DO FEEL YOUR PAIN, seriously i dont have anyone to play with outside of a few friends that play decent, and just one can do advanced combos, i need to move somewhere with TvC people.

just a few things:
-Nyoronoru, chill the hell out. this game isn’t gonna die the instant that MVC3 comes out, despite popular belief. don’t give into peer pressure!
Gold Lightan has 68,000 hp. Alex and vanilla tek have 53,000. it’s not that big a gap, now if it was like 80,000, I’d see you point. From what i’ve gotten, the only people with beef against giants are just people complaining on how different the matches are, which is kind of stupid, because the point of Giants themselves is to be a different style of fighting. that’s why I hope this game gets into EVO ‘11 so we can finally see how bad giants really are and cast the poll. people are acting like Giants are the Vs. Series’ version of items in Smash bros., in that using them doesn’t take skill, when obviously they’re not. those who don’t like giants can either A. play a diferent Vs. game or B. shut up and accept that they are a part of TvC. Kurasa, from what I hear you are one of the best TvC players in America, and while I respect that you want to get a resolution as soon as possible, I think that we need to try and wait until an official Tourney(like I said, Evo or something) so that we can see where the hell the problem really is.

there is nothing wrong with preference, it’s just that adaptaion is an essential in fighting games. people adapted to the differences between SF2 and SF3. people adapted to the differences between MVC1 and MVC2. some people even adapted to the difference between melee and brawl. but here, people keep complaining about the giants-which is one of the many diffence in this series-and keep on complaining and acting like this shouldn’t have happened. but it doesn’t matter what they say,because it did happen,and they are a part of the game. people just need to accept that.

It’s already over. Although luckily for us if anyone decides to make a ban request in the MvC3 forums they will be laughed out/infracted and banned, unlike here where such requests are tolerated and supported.

In general, I’m against banning stuff too, but let’s be honest, EVO Finals were so fking amped. So many people who didn’t know anything about TvC actually cheering and getting into it… until, the giants. Then boos and hackles came out, people began shitting on the game without knowing what’s up. I definitely think there’s reason for alarm with that.
But that aside, good players know how to beat giants np. That’s not even really an issue in a double elim, singles tourney. I do foresee problems with allowing giants in team tourney play, however. As you can’t counterpick in the same fashion as a singles tourney. I don’t care what happens ultimately, but I definitely see and agree with the motions to ban. I don’t understand why others here can’t at least acknowledge why someone would want the giants banned, even if they’re against the idea of banning them.
Simple, for some people (me at least) they know that GIANTS are not the problem with TvC. The Wii is the problem. You are trying to get 19-33 year old men to travel and be competive in a game that is on the “Mario System.” There are not many 25+ year old men paying Brawl or Mario cart competively. End of story.
You put a ban on something and it better help the scene in some way. If you (or anyone else) believes that “getting rid of giants” will make people come to the game you are dead wrong. The people stay away because it is on the Wii. There is no question about it. So, in short, the games scene is what it is and banning the giants solves nothing at all, if you want people to play the game, push it on the Wii users and not the srk community, give it time to grow and hope something like a brawl communtiy comes of it. I really do not care how it grows, just more of the peole playing are getting better, and they are right now so we are fine.
Leave the Giants alone, we look stupid talking about it!! That is for sure!!
Edit: PCronics PTX is trashy and got beat by trashy tatics, no counter picking of new characters no nothing. I would boo anything ghey like that, like guile vs rose, guile vs gat etc… Swtich it up and make it hype, not spammy!!

giants are sort of an honor thing to me. i dont mind people picking a giant after one round, i get bothered with i get a round one giant spammer, which throws off my mojo. i can beat them, it just annoys me. it’s unsporting to sneak that huge eye sore into an otherwise heated tournament on round one. i respect ppl who can use them well, no doubt, but if your bringing a fruit cake to pot luck, at least bring something tasty as well. :looney: tournament bans? whatever, if you go to a hosted tourney, it’s their rules, so you play by them. they could outlaw jump and id’ still show.
Who the hell cares about this anyways. Once Marvel 3 comes out I probably will not be playing this as much. Sure I love TvC but my heart has always belonged to Marvel which is where I will go. Although PsychoChronic plays PTX, I give him credit for using other characters as well. With GCYoshi I have yet to see him use two characters but oh well. I look forward to playing people in Marvel 3.
^^^ some people only have one character that suits their prefered playstyle. Hakan is like that for me in SSFIV, and PTX is that for me in TvC. I’m sure PTX is probably Yoshi’s prefered style of play in TvC (correct me if I’m wrong yoshi).
If Capcom makes a TvC2, I hope to see more giants enter the ring!
as a spectator, giant battles are much more interesting to me than normal fights.
