If F+MK hits, you can 1-frame link into any of the 3 punches, standing only. Since they all have the same difficulty, you might as well hit HP. (Unless you’re opponent is Rufus or Chun…)
On a counter hit, the timing to hit st.HP is much easier.
You can’t go straight from F+MK to standing strong… that would be nice since it is the only one that hits all crouching opponents but it starts in 5 frames instead of 4… slower than fierce
er… just to clarify, do you mean you can’t go from F+MK (dash) to standing medium punch? Cos it seems that ppl are saying differently… :-/
Yes. That is what I am saying. You are only at +4 after a landed F+MK, standing close strong takes 5 frames to start… this shit is basic, read the fucking wiki. On counter hit, it will combo, otherwise, it won’t unless the stars align in a certain way and you land the F+MK on its 2nd active frame.
I’ve been reading threads on here for 2 weeks and the only reason I asked is because I’ve read, even in this thread, that you can combo F+MK into ANY standing punch. If it can only be done on counter then fair enough. Some ppl are saying the frame data is wrong. But don’t tell me to “read the fucking anything” cos if I hadn’t read so much I wouldn’t have been confused in the fucking first place.

For the most part… There are a couple of exceptions.
Like far lp comboing into fwd.mk. far lp is +6 on hit, but if you hit it far enough it gains one extra hit frame, so it becomes +7 and therefor can combo into fwd.mk.
I pulled this off yesterday against boxer, cr.lp cr.lp st.lp fwd.mk st.hp CoD. Of course this becomes easier on certain characters, but if you master it you get a way to knockdown reliably of a chain of cr.lp’s. Really usefull, but too hard to pull off consistently.
F+MK could combo into standing strong if you hit with the second frame, just like it combos into c.lk for the infinite on Chun… c.lk could combo into standing strong if you throw it out meaty and it hits on the 2nd or 3rd active frame… there are lots of possibilities.
I should probably just point out I just stick with what is guaranteed to work
I trust you understand my confusion? I didn’t want to waste my time practicing a combo that only works under very specific circumstances. I just wanted that clarified.

Doing the Forward mk dash Fp in training mode and the heat of a match it’s 2 different story . You don’t have the stress to miss your link in training mode.Unlike a Match vs a human being.
Most of the time i try the FP link when i have 2 bar so i can FADC either if i miss or connect .If not i simply FP XX lk Roll after the first hit or roll right in the bat or throw or Tornada throw … or Jump backward … Seriously there’s so many option.
Man it’s all depend of who you’re facing and how they play and how you’re playing yourself.
