Profound Punishment!

Will the OP ever be updated? -_-

If a Cammy ever uses U1 to escape from you to the other side of the screen, whether intentional or not,you can get an easy and damaging punish by doing run>overhead kick(this catches her in the air doing the kick part of her ultra) and comboing off that with EX shoulder.

run hk ,ex shoulder fadc ultra 1

How to punish Cody’s Criminal Uppers? (Tornado punch)

st.mp - run slide

st.mp - ex shoulder

Badly spaced versions of criminal upper can be punished by a full bushin chain. If you know any really good cody players though, that wont be happening.

Neck Flip against Honda

Honda Headbutt Punishment

If spaced right, Neck Flip can punish Headbutt from maxium range. If timed properly Honda’s Headbutt will get beaten clean, including EX version. Also, here are some good setups…

a. Land a Crouching Medium Kick, jump back once, then QUICKLY perform Neck Flip. If Honda does any version of sumo headbutt on wake, it will get beaten clean. This also works good against sumo smash and Honda Hands. If Honda blocks Neck Flip and tries to command grab, it should whiff (if done quick enough). You can also use Low Bushin Grab instead of Neck Flip, to grab Honda out of sumo headbutt.

b. Perform a Forward Throw, Jump forward once, Back Dash once and QUICKLY input Neck Flip. Again if Honda does sumo headbutt on wake, it will get beaten clean including EX version. There are many more setups, but these are two easy ones to master. Remember to use Neck Flip from maxium range if Honda is turtling to much.
(it would be a good idea if someone made a video of this to show a more visual look at it done properly)

Crouching Medium Kick Setup
This one’s easy. Just land a Crouching Medium Kick on Honda, JUMP OVER to the other side of Honda and upon landing perform Crouching Medium Kick again. You can do this as long as you like, but I recommend maybe 3 times at most. The only thing I know Honda can do to counter this setup is Back Dash, Sumo Smash and Block, but their maybe more…

(note: to practice these setups in training mode, RECORD Guy as player 2 and use Honda as player 1)

Is it not possible to use Run>Sudden Stop to catch up with her before she lands and just doing your combo of choice when she lands?
Maybe… HK, Bushin Combo, EX Shoulder?
Or, HK, HP, MP>EX Shoulder, HK Tatsu (if in corner)? I’m not sure which of thw two is more damaging, and the 2nd might not even work on Cammy.

You could also replace the EX Shoulder with Run>Shadow Kick for the knock down.

I’ll have to test this!

I’ve been reading a lot of obvious thing like the c. mk that beats a lot of wake up option on Balrog etc… by the way if its not obvious for everyone it should also beat Viper’s DP, DeeJays DP and Guys DP too and probably many more… (dont know the name of all the special sorry lol).

Something else that I taught was obvious is the use of the ex flip grap/elbow to escape firable chip damage (very usefull against opponent trying to chip you to death). It goes trew all firaball, I beleive all super and ultra firaball too (ex: guiles ultra2, Ryus super and utra1, Rose super, Sagats ultra2 etc).

You can also use EX Flip to escape Cody’s Ultra 2, which is too quick to jump and avoid if you’re too close. Perform the flip and just let Guy land - Cody will continue his attacks and travel to the other side of the screen where you have time to perform a run and punish with whatever you want. Just be wary that if you want to punish with Ultra 2 that Cody moves forward after his last strike, which can can cause the Ultra 2 to whiff entirely!

If you don’t have any EX, I think you can just use MK Tatsu, but there might be a ‘sweet spot’ for Cody where you’re too close to jump out of it and too far to MK Tatsu. I’m not 100% sure of this, but the EX Flip above definitely works.

Don’t forget you can also cancel Guy’s forward.MP into whatever special you want, so it’s possible to bait out Cody’s Ultra 2 with the overhead and cancel it into the EX Flip. I find this quite difficult to perform though…

It’s really easy man, just do the overhead, then after the ultra freeze input you special move, you have ages with the ultra freeze to see if he’s gonna do it.
As long as the overhead wasn’t already in it’s attack frames it will come out.
I use this on people like guile and dhlasim on their wakeup to bait wakeup ultras.

Oh, I know how it’s done but in training mode I was having a lot of difficulty doing it for some reason. I must have just been mistiming my overhead, as I was trying to do it as early as possible as it doesn’t really seem much of a bait otherwise.

Yeah, I see what you mean.
I guess the best timing possible would be so that the overhead hits them as they get up like a meaty attack.
Another thing about it is you could do and armor cancel off of it, but I’ve not found any use for it yet.

Ultra 1 is pretty good for punishes if you have three bars, a lot of moves can be punished with ex hozanto and if you fadc into ultra in the corner you can do a serious amount of damage.
Abels wheel kicks can be punished with st.mp/target coumbo to hozanto fadc ultra, but also if you do a slide under a wheelkick early enoughyou can ex hozanto from the other side to catch his recovery, situational but worth it if it happens.
Hondas headbutts can be punishe with ex hozanto
If rufus does the messiah fadc backdash you can still catch him with ex hozanto
any big characters, you can hit them with st.hp st.mp ex hozanto, it’s good against gief green hand

Just to expand a little on what IZIERIOI mentioned…
I believe only Honda’s MP and HP Headbutts can be punished with EX Hozanto - LP and EX are safe as they have quicker recovery. Honda has a different sound clip when doing LP/EX Headbutt, so use that to know whether or not you can punish the headbutt if you blocked it at point blank (not to mention the yellow flashing of the EX version being a dead giveaway!)
If you find your opponents Rufus gambling on doing the MK or HK followup if you block his EX Messiah, you can focus either of those for long enough to get a Level 2 crumple. Rufus is fat enough to get in the cl.HK~Bushin Combo on Level 2 crumple. Just be wary that Rufus might start following his blocked EX Messiah with a delayed LP, which will armour break your Focus. Of course, you can just block what he does and get your combo of choice in, or mash in EX Tatsu if you don’t want to react to whatever he decides to do!

Focusing the followup seems kinda risky in that regard - wouldn’t mind hearing what others think of this tactic. What I like about it is that if the Rufus performs LK immediately after EX Messiah, that will get blocked automatically and your focus won’t come out. Just gotta be wary of the delayed LK (or if the Rufus player decides to do nothing at all).

You can take a pretty good guess at what follow up he will use based on his situation too.
If he has three bars he’s pretty likely to go for the lk end since it’s safe(except it’s not now haha), even more likely if he has the ultra too.
Can his overhead followup be punished on block?
Rufus’ U2 can be beat clean by guys U1.
Also he seems to have no way to punish blocked hozanto’s as far as I know, so you can use them as part of the run stop mixups to get free chip damage.
Didn’t know the head butts had different sounds, that’s awesome.
If you don’t have meter you can punish them with run slide, the timing is tricky though.

Counter Hit Ultra 1

I recently discovered in training mode that Guy can (Counter Hit into ultra 1 using; Standing HK or Crouching HP).
The best usuage I found for this is against Balrog’s straight punch, Gouken’s senkugoshoha, Guy’s Run, Makoto’s hayate and against
Dudley’s machine gun blow. The link is tight but if you land it, the damage is around 497 vs his normal damage of 460. This may or may not be some thing you would try at high level, but it sure looks flashy.

Adding to Blanka Horizontal Ball punishes, you can actually walk-up and do EX Hozanto on all ball variations. More damage than runslide, and considering that Blanka avoids all of Guy’s safe jump options that I’ve tried so far (the jump-ins seem to whiff), then pushing him away might be something you want.

xIROCx: I was actually trying to cap that in a video not too long ago. I’ve known about it for the past two weeks. I checked against which characters it was easiest to do and had a post ready with it.

You can also trade into the ultra, which is easier because you just do c.hp xx ultra and if you get the trade, ultra 1 comes out.

It’s ridiculously hard to confirm the CH. Not as easy as say Cammy’s CH c.fierce into ultra.

Only missing the c.fierce trade into ultra since it’s not so easy to get while on practice mode.

Thanks for the videos, I knew about the blanka ball being punishable with walk up ex hozanto, but theres some situations where the ex hozanto will hit high enough that you can get ultra 1 off of it in the corner too.
I’ll try to figure out what it was but I’m sure I’ve done it against his EX ball.
Also you could fadc into ultra too.

@ Gandido
Good stuff man. Actually i discovered that about two weeks ago as well. I had to test it against the cast to see how to do it best.
I personally like the setups I mentioned above and hope you can maybe put those in a video as well. I tested all of them and they work very well. Like when Balrog’s Straight Punch is charging at you, hit him with Crouching HP then into Ultra 1. The Crouching HP will create a Counter Hit that will allow you to link into Ultra 1. Again good video’s, keep up the good work!

I’m sure I came up with the discovery and had people test it out :stuck_out_tongue:
