Y’know what’s funny? Everyone wants high quality 2D sprites, yet lots of you would rather take a flat 2D GG sprite over a 2D Warzard character with massive colors and depth. This shit cracks me up.
You know, I must have felt the same way back when it first came out. And while the games sprites have their own appeal to them, most other titles (not even just CPS3 games) beat GGX’s sprites hands down, in terms of frame count, and sprite detail.
BUT YOU KNOW HOW IT GOES, RIGHT!?! The bigger the better, no matter how undetailed they look!
George Kamitani. When he was with Capcom he was a game designer but now he is well known as an artist - He is the main artist on Odin Sphere. And the main person behind the entire game too. :bgrin:
I would’ve loved to yell “Guilty Gear!” But besides the absolutely wonderful graphics and presentation; it has very shitty animation. SF3 has me drooling all over my arcade stick every time. Those animations are fantastic.
Garou; for it’s time had insane good presentation; and still does.
What I don’t understand though; is why people like Akatsuki Blitzkampf :S. That game is really really ugly. The characters have bad proportions; and they all stand as if they had baseball bat shoved up their asses, the animations are choppy too. Presentation of the effects are pretty cool though; a bit cheesy, but so is HNK, and that’s cool too in it’s cheesyness.
But also the backgrounds are just badly edited photographs of real life places most of the time; and it looks terrible.
I personally think the more pixeled doujin’s like Melty Blood and Big Bang Beat look so much better; beautiful animations and presentation.
And let’s not forget to mention how awesome Street Fighter Alpha 2 looks.
Warzard does have some of the most polished looking graphics out of all the Capcom fighters. I’m also looking at Ring of Destruction, as those are some of the most detailed sprites using Capcom’s CPS2 hardware. :wow:
Myself and HH mentioned PR, as the Topics Title did not specify to any certain kind of style used to create the games, graphics.
you can really tell the difference when you match a 3rd Strike sprite against a SFII sprite in a Mugen match; you can almost see a 3D effect on the SFIII sprites…
Er… I think you are confused here… ALL 2d games (fighting, shooting etc) uses PIXELS to draw the SPRITES on the screen right? I mentioned PR because has too good anf fluid animation to his date and has some of the clearer graphics i have eer seen. CF is ugly and MK2 was the prettier of the 2d mks but the animation is not even on par with SF and never with PR.
3S is the best animated though…not that it means much to much I don’t think they reached real deep into the well for the designs on most of those people…people just look kind of generic…but then again it wasn’t supposed to be horribly flashy/dramatic.
No. Pixels - Street Fighter, King of Fighters… Super Mario Brothers, Sonic the Hedgehog, etc etc.
Mortal Kombat, MK2, MK3, Ultimate MK3, MKTrilogy, Tattoo Assassins, Street Fighter: The Movie The Game, Primal Rage, ClayFighter series, all use what they call digitized graphics. That means taking something from real life (motion captured/photographed people, clay models), and putting them in-game as characters.
List of games with Digitized sprites, instead of pixel sprites.
