Hi. I don’t know who any of you are, but last week Kisaris beat Langis Langley 3-0 (on the PvC site, it says they both missed the game; this is false).
I also have no idea how I know this, but BaklaKiller beat Langis Langley 2-1.
Weird brainwave hat trick: I suspect Langis Langley will not be able to make his match with mr x64, as they need to compete before the 19th and that’s when Langis Langley gets back in town; he’s in LA for the Screenwriting Expo until then. If Langis Langley can’t make the match, he’ll forfeit with apologies.
Just to let everyone know I will be on this week starting Monday the 19th. Sorry I threw everyone for a loop. I had a family emergency.
You have no idea how bad I wanted to be playing.
I’m gonna have to resign from this too ironically for the same reason as Mr x… Movin and I gotta be in my new place by October 1st. And won’t have internet at the new place til like the 3rd or 4th week in October. Besides that it seems just can’t coordinate playin some people so many times just missin my opponent by minutes or they never respond…
My controller is messed up since like Monday so I won’t be able to play until I get a new one. Dunno how long it will take, but replacing it isn’t exactly on the top of my to do list. I’ll let you know when I get a replacement. Until then I can’t really play. I forfeit to Mongolorobokop and dpedleton (sorry for the delayed response).
I think im gonna have to quit this im too busy with work and coaching and soccer that by the time i get home i dont even wanna play sf lol gg’s to everyone
Damn, it’s a shame things can’t work out with the league with some of you. Thanks for giving it a chance, though. Good luck with your moving and work, guys.
I’ll update matches and results for this week when I get home later this evening.
PS3 players, please check the matches page and try to play the few matches that are left; otherwise madpossum will win season 1 of the PvC’s PS3 league by default.
I was trying to play some people & they just never reply or unable to play…Is there another point system that maybe wont punished people who is there t o do the matches?
Are we going to play the Beta division? Since quite few people dropped or no longer seem interested, can we combine divisions or revise…I really want to get more games in, then just 2 games a week…
I know its a thankless job you’re doing but want to say thanks for doing this bro!
Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be feasible to change the format at this point. The original system that we had planned was to completely remove the players from league if they weren’t able to meet the weekly quota, but I didn’t think that was necessary, given our size.
Yes, Alpha will go head-to-head with Beta now. Once all pools have played each other, I’ll add up everyone’s points and subtract with respect to matches played against people who have since left the league. Those final points will determine your seeding in the grand tournament.
Thanks, people like you and those who continue to play (in or out of the league) is what gives me the motivation to keep it running. Maybe if I start introducing prizes, it’ll keep players interested long enough to finish?
This week we are playing against our own pool, we did this already in our first week. So ill be playing only Blitzfu? Yeah i can probably help with prizes next time around like XBL points…Maybe an HDR trophy like Zass got haha, Zass you should put that up…
FWIW, I think most of us SF2 players are old enough and have decent enough jobs that prizes aren’t a big/important draw. I could be wrong though…
The one reason I didn’t enter this is because I’ve tried these things before and spending time tracking down your opponents is a tiring process. It’s nice that it’s flexible, but it sucks cause you’re always trying to wrangle up your matches. IMO, if you make one (or maybe 2/3 time) periods where people should meet up that might attract more players. For example, if I knew that on Wed. night at 9pm, or Saturday at 4pm, or whatever was when this was gonna go down then I’d be more likely to play. It’d make it easy to plan ahead and/or let people know if I can’t make it. Just a thought…
This always happens with these long term league ideas, they usually start to fizzle out near the end. To add to what JV said I think some of it is unavoidable, we do have an older player base, most people have jobs and a lot have families to also consider. Like last week, I couldn’t get any matches in but it wasn’t for lack of communication or trying, we just couldn’t get our schedules lined up. You have to kinda take the good with the bad with these things.
I think after this season maybe we should try more of a rankings battle type format, instead of trying to get matches in during different times all week, have a tournament at the same time every weekend. Players get points depending on where they place. If you can’t make it one week it’s no big deal, you just don’t get any points that week. Just an idea, I think it might be fun to try out new formats every “season” to keep things fresh and interesting.
Just also like to through in a big Thank You to GJ for running this, really appreciate all the time you’ve put in running things like this and all the tournies you’ve had for HDR, you do a great job.
