Pretenders vs. Contenders: Online HDR League (360 & PS3) [NA Only] [AUG19 Deadline]

Sign ups are now closed. Everyone who has replied above this thread, please check the first post to make sure I’ve included you.

Pools, site, and other league information will be released either Sunday or Monday.

it might be advantageous to extend the registration another week, or message some of the other people who signed up in the other thread. we lost almost half of the xbox players who were interested and 2/3 of the ps3 people who were interested. we had 51 total, now we only have 24.

Damn sorry I’m so late with my characters… I’m gonna use Ken and Sagat

That’s fine Phlush, got it recorded.

@dragonlibrarian: You do have a great point and it’s unfortunate that our numbers are halved, but I can’t delay it any longer due to multiple reasons and time constraints. If those people were still interested at this point in time, they would have already signed up and been ready to play. The advantage of a smaller player-base right now is that the first season will be much more manageable in terms of organization, flexibility, and efficiency. The way the pools are set up should not be a problem for even the busiest of players. That said, I would like to thank everyone for the patience and would like to announce the starting of Pretenders vs. Contenders first season.

In a nutshell, everyone needs to check the Roster page to see which division they are in. PS3 players are limited to Alpha Division only because of the numbers. Once you have found your name in either the Alpha or Beta division, head over to your respective Matches page. There, it will display which pool you are assigned to and outline who is playing who for the current week and when the deadline is. For example, it will say Pool A plays against Pool B and Pool C plays against itself.
Players in pool A need to play against every player in pool B, but not any of the players within his/her own pool. Players in pool C will be playing against players within their own pool only. Games are best 2 out of 3 rounds, 99 second timer, in Remixed mode, and you will need to play 3 games with each opponent. Not a first to 3 or best 2 out of 3, but 3 total games win or lose. Each game won will net you 1 point, losing gives you 0 points. Points are used to determine your rank in the league and will be used to seed the brackets for the final tournament. If there’s any questions, you can check the Help page (still a work in progress) or ask Sweet Poison or myself. Thanks!

Just to make sure I’m understanding this right, for 360 I just need to play Papercut because we are the only ones in Pool C, right?

For all my opponents, I have a weird schedule so I’m usually only available during the week in the mornings and late at night (get home from work around 11:00 PM EST). During the weekends it’s easier but have to work around family stuff. If you see me on and send a message to play and I don’t respond (especially on 360) then it’s someone else on, my wife and kids are on the 360 a lot, usually on Netflix. So please don’t get mad and please watch the language on the messages, LOL.

Good luck everyone!

Cool beams. How long do we have to play all our matches? As in: what’s the deadline for having played our final match?

EDIT - nvm, found the answer on the Help page.

mad possum: weekdays at night sounds good to me. I’m on the west coast 11pm your time is like 8 my time i think.

remixed: Do I have to start with hawk or can I use ryu to start?

Pool A in the Alpha Division: I’m available weeknights at 9pm Pacific time.

Sweet Poison, Zass, and Hector Grafia challenge me whenever you see me on. I am on usually in the mornings or after 5:30 PM PST

Remixed or Poison: When we do complete a game, where do we report the scores?

mad possum: Yes, that is correct. You have until the end of next Monday to get in your fight with DNGR S PAPERCUT.

specs: There’s also a timer on the home page under the link bar that will tell you when the deadline is if you have Javascript enabled.

DNGR S PAPERCUT: You can start with Hawk or Ryu. You just can’t use anyone outside of those two.

im on at night after 9pm PST send me a challenge or let me know on here

Yet another question: what happens in case of a draw? Do both players re-play the match, or does neither player get a point?

Also, while it may seem silly/obvious, I suggest putting the default SPEED setting in the rules.

@ everyone in XBL Pool B (Hector Garfria, Sweet Poison, Zass30): let me know best times. I’m pretty flexible this week’s evenings save for Wednesday, and can plan most of it around these matches. If I don’t hear from you, I’ll PM you or something. Also note, again, my mic doesn’t work with my stick.

In the event of a draw, the match is replayed.

Also, thanks for your speed suggestion. Can’t believe I missed that.

ok so i played two of my opponents this morning.

Against EtKelley it was- 3-0 i got three

Against Slyry56 it was- 2-1 i got 2

all right i added all the ps3 users, so just keep an eye out for me. i’m usually online after i tuck in the wife and baby, 10pm-4am pst. if i’m playing something else just send me a message, i’ll usually drop what i’m doing for some hdr. if we don’t get a chance to play in the next day or 2 i guess i’ll have to set up some times to play

What is Hector Grafia’s GamerTag, I can’t find him on XboxLive

It’s spelled Hector Garfria

Let me know what time today and I’ll be on for sure.

finshed my last match

2 for me, 1 for royalphlush

mad possum, I’ll try to see you on tonight. around 8ish pacific time.

Sweet Poison beat Langis Langley (me) 3-0. Good work Sweet Poison! Sorry for the quick messages: it’s slow typing on stick.

… I have to study that Dhalsim matchup. (And like every other matchup.)
