Why do people have to do this shit. It just leaves everyone feeling shitty. Though I’ve been playing fighting games for a long time, I didn’t really start to become part of the NW community until I started going to GW around April. As I met new people I felt like I really wanted to become a part of this great community.
I finally came to a Preppopolis in the end of June with Team Jurassic aka Chris(Mystic) and Vivek, who doesn’t post here. I personally have to say that it is so much fun coming to Preppy’s and I have thoroughly enjoyed it these past three times I’ve been, with the exception of the BS that happened on Friday. My friends and I have all been putting in practice, talking strategy, going to GW more often all in preparation for tournies at Preppy’s.
It’s really a shame that it has come to a potential end for me being able to attend these. As a new guy to the community I truly hope there is a way to get invited to future events. Even if it’s far in the future it’s better than no Preppy’s at all.
Thanks a lot to Zach for opening your house, although I haven’t spent much time getting to know you, I definitely respect you for opening your house up to a whole community. I don’t know if you remember me but I was a taller/bigger guy who was there pretty early Friday watching you and I think Curtis playing Marvel. Btw, you have cool tastes in like everything. Zach’s Army is way too badass.

Are people prepared for what’s gonna happen without Preppopolis? SFIV in Seattle as we know it is fucked unless people are willing to accept Gameclucks. I find it completely ironic that we have our biggest turnout ever for SFIV, only to have people steal shit and possibly put an end to future events.

Yeah man there’s a lot of people that put in work to get the SFIV scene to grow, and a lot of mother fuckers that were really putting a lot of effort to put Seattle back on the damn map in regards to fighting games…and we just got our foot in the door, and now some greasy ass fools are about to swoop in and bring down this card castle that Me, Mandel, Mickey, Cole and select others have been building since September of LAST YEAR?!
Been reading the past couple pages and though I don’t live in WA anymore and haven’t hung out with many of you I just want to say it really sucks that people took advantage of Preppys hospitality just so they can swipe shit.
I hope everything gets cleared up soon.

Damn. Never met you in person, Zach, but I feel for and respect all decisions made about your house. Maybe some day I’ll get a chance to hang out and play a few games with you in person.

If this past session was the last one for quite some time, I’m grateful to have hopped back in the scene if only for one time at the Tower of Preppopolis.
In one capacity or another I’ve been in the Seattle fighting game scene for close to 10 years, and until that last session before Evo, I had NEVER seen such a tight-knit group since the Southcenter days. It felt good to step back into a heated competitive atmosphere where we all friends and rivals at the same time. And it’s a shame that it will be on hiatus because someone took advantage of the hospitality of the man who pretty much saved our scene from becoming extinct.
I can’t really say a lot about the situation because I wasn’t there, but I can say that in any capacity, in any home, at any kind of function – if you walk into some dude’s house and disrespect it by being that sketchy, you put the homeowners in danger of ever trusting guests, you put the community around you on edge, and more importantly, you put yourself in the line of fire. And you better hope you have a flak jacket.
Someone HAS to speak up on behalf of the party who has been targeted for suspicion. As far as I’m concerned, everyone who has proven their loyalty to Zach and respects his home has spoken and cleared their own names. Know that if you don’t speak up, you will continue to be guilty until proven innocent by this very community that opened their door for you. That is some shady shit and I really hope that someone comes forward, admits guilt, or puts in a hint so we can get this situation resolved. I’m a true believer of an eye for an eye. Karma will hit you.
Thanks Zach once again for hosting, I hope we can resolve this matter swiftly and get back on track to being the beastly scene we’ve always been.
wow we’re all friends too so this type of stuff isnt supposed happen. zachs done a really good job of keeping this a safe enviornment where you were supposed to be able to put your stuff down and not have to worry about it in his house.
i pack a pistol AT LEAST, everywhere i go. but zachs is one place i was willing to go without it because why would i need to be strapped if ima just kick it with the homies? now that’s all fucked up and gone…COOL?!?

but yeah sorry guys that i cant make it down to gatherings lately, but a lot of us would come down for Northwest Majors this year which is going to be pretty tight!

Unfortunately there’s a lot of pitiful people out there. It just takes someone with complete disregard for our community of players, someone that had absolutely no interest in returning to the scene.

I hope everyone here understands, a decision has not been made by Zach yet as to what is going to happen.
This is exactly why I think since page 1, you make an effort to meet, introduce yourself, and talk to Zach when you come into his house. I know he’s usually running around with his Rorschach mask on dropping nooblers in MvC2, but all n all, this is a human beings house, not a venue. There isn’t some sign-in sheet, venue costs, or security detail fees.
I hope from this experience we can at least still press forward as a community, as little merit as that has coming from someone as new as I am, I really hope everyone will understand and respect Zach’s decision.
I also had the idea of now a Sign-in sheet (Like a guest book) to keep track of everyone who walks into Zach’s house. Complete with Full Name, SRK Handle, Phone Number so if this kind of beef ever happens again, Zach or others can jump in their Gundams and interrogate you on what you left with.
Pocket/Bag Check should come standard.
Also, maybe some people who are generous enough, to put in for a insurance policy similar to the one Nolan had about Evo (Stuff getting stolen, broken, defaced)? I know I’d throw down at least $5 because not only is this a way to help someone less fortunate, but protects Zach’s house in case something gets busted.
Just ideas, I’m a noob, so you don’t need to take anything I say as “important”.

Nope. I think everyone here will be keeping a close eye on unknowns in the future. Sucks for the newcomers…I hope there still is a way to welcome newcomers to the genre to our homes when we are hosting casuals. This one opportunist ruined a lot of trust in newcomers to our scene, imo.

If anyone has to be On Guard or we need to set a “security policy” in effect, that’s not some place I want to be.
And since it’s my house, that goes double. It’s just not how I roll.
Either people can go and feel safe and comfortable among friends, or something’s horribly wrong - and I’m completely and utterly unwilling to put up with that.
