Practicing with TE Stick. Training Mode or Online?

Thanks.

Another stick thread? Damn, people really need to quit buying sticks or get some patience…

i actually had an ortho gate installed and about 2 months ago i switched back to square gate. the main reason was that u just can’t play footsies fast enough using the ortho gate since the throw is longer. in fact, FADC->Ultra comes out much faster with square gate (once u get used to it)…

Its weird ive been only practicing Rog on stick and its better than my pad. But then most of the shoto characters and some other characters im terrible with on the stick. Ive had mine for about 3 weeks.

Also I was about to join your match on championship but it showed lag lol

Would explain why I was lagging badly in some matches then lol.

Giving charge characters more of a chance as I wait for octo. Bison bothered me due to having poor reversals from what I played of him(I barely know anything about playing Bison aside from he’s a charge character and how to do his specials though.) E.Honda it’s not that I’m not patient, but he’s just not fun for me. So, I tried Blanka and the character is actually quite fun so far and the TE stick works great for charge characters. Vega I haven’t tried yet, but it’s extremely hard to not be discouraged from using him. Guile I played and he’s fun, but his Flash Kick is basically…R.I.P. Flash Kick. As for Balrog he was pretty fun and I like the character. I pretty much have Blanka and Chun-Li left I believe for charge characters. Blanka and Balrog are definitely my two candidates for charge characters so far. Although, I probably like Bison the most design wise.

I’ve been practicing with my arcade stick for a few weeks, but almost exclusively with friends or in training mode. It was really different for me so I figured the best way to get better is to start by getting comfortable first without having to worry about perfect execution or strategy. Of course this might just be good for me, but a lot of my friends have told me I’ve improved so I suppose it’s working.

Thanks I’ve pretty much been doing same thing. Either with my friends or in player matches.

I’ve had my stick for about a week or so and I’ve mainly just been in training mode getting the moves and combos down. But recently since I started playing online I find I’m adapting faster by playing online than just sitting in training mode and practicing combos. Although you will have to go into training mode to make sure you can do the combos.

So far it’s been like a trade off, I lost the ability to do some moves on pad but gained the ability of doing some moves on stick due to the accurate directions on the stick.

Very nice Viper avatar. I assume you main her? If so, got a lot of respect for you. She’s the hardest character in the game to use.

I just got my stick maybe 3 months ago. I feel pretty damn comfortable on it now, I also use a square gate and play Ryu. If you want to play in the arcades at all (which you should if you have the chance, the feeling is addicting when you win) then using an octo gate might just mess with you. I dunno, I stuck with the square and I can do things pretty consistantly.

Well, I am beginning to really like Blanka’s playstyle and character design. I’m practicing with him and the square gate works really well for him seeing as how he’s a charge character. So, it may not be necessary for me to change gates after all. We’ll see though.

If you really like charge characters, suggest you stick with square gates, makes it a whole lot easier.

And just slowly build up experience using shoto’s on square gate, so you don’t have to get octo and keep changing and changing.

training mode, that online lag will mess you up. You’ll pull harder on the stick when u really don’t have to cuz of the lag. I think ruined my stick like that

new stick!!!

Both mostly online though.

I just got a square gate stick too and I really only played on one like once before. Ultimately, just don’t ride the gates. I noticed immediately my biggest problem with quarter and half circles is that I can’t orientate f/b with uf/ub. Always swing too far up and jump. Nothing practice can’t fix.

It really is just practicepracticepractice. Now if only I could pick a character to play and not worry so much about tiers…

stop worrying about tiers and just pick the character you like.
