I just have to ask… what’s the point of having 7.1 if you’re going to position more than half of the speakers incorrectly? Also why so many Dreamcasts and MvsC2 boards?
Not exactly… its not 0 and 1s, its high and low voltage, and it can be alter by the surrounding of that cable.
even if it is 0 and 1’s the in ability of signal sending device producing a clear signal shows up and become a problem on high transfer rate. As the cable gets longer, the less accurate the signal becomes. from most of the test i have read online. At 1080p, 120hz transfer rate, most 6 feet cables on the market on the market today will transfer signals correctly, but as the cable gets longer, it gets worse.
At 25 ft, almost half of the cables that were tested failed to deliver correct signals, even though it might be possible for the hard ware build in your TV to fix it, a corrupt signal is a corrupt signal.
At 50ft, almost non of the cables on the market today delivered clear signals besides one brand of cable that I forgot its name.
From what remember, at long distance (above 25ft), Monster cable actually did considerable better than most of the cables that were tested. So regardless of how expensive it is, it still has some quality assurance.
But anyway, I believe most of the people would not purchase any HDMI cable over the length of 30" and most of your would probably just get a 6" cable instead, but if you are like my friend who decided to connect his HDTV to his computer by a 25" HDMI cable, I recommend Blue Jean Cable. Its not exactly the cheapest cable out there, but it certainly works well.
Yes, as the length of the cable increases, the resistance increases, thus deteriorating the signal quality. The signal is digital, but the signal can still be distorted if you’re running too thin of a cable. However, for this to actually matter, you have to be running a pretty long cable.
At short distances (10ft and under), you should be okay with just about any HDMI cable. Any longer distances, you don’t need a better brand name, you just need a thicker cable.
At short distances, 28 AWG should do the trick. (Lower number = thicker cable).
At longer than 15ft, you’ll probably want something thicker like 24AWG or 22AWG.
Monster Cables don’t tell you how thick their cables are. You won’t find it anywhere on the packaging or their website. This is because they target stupid people and stupid people don’t care about such trivial matters. Monster’s products are definitely good quality, but you can get equal quality at 1/10 the price. With all things constant (length, thickness), the only advantage Monster Cable has over a generic brand is that the cables are more resistant to corrosion. You can remedy this by unplugging/replugging your cables/connectors once every month or two. This will extend its lifespan by years. Or you can just buy new cables every 8 years, and it’ll still be way cheaper than Monster.
I knew this question would be asked. My place is small and I don’t have space to wall mount every speaker. So I tuned it, sort of like those yamaha sound bars. What is so fucking awesome about my receiver is that it auto tunes no matter what your set up. It comes with a microphone that picks up highs and lows depending on position. I could have put all of the speakers in a corner and still have awesome sound.
With regards to dreamcasts and mvc2 boards all I can say is why not?
Thanks, dude. Haha, agreed on the PS2. I don’t know what to replace it with. X360 maybe, but I’m not sure how much I’ll play it, since I already have a PS3. HD Cable Box maybe, but I don’t really watch TV other than football.
