actually the american boxset is much nicer than the bootleg stuff.
as for quality, the legitimate releases are of significantly better quality. when they cram 9 episodes onto a disc, yeah, its going to make a difference.
as i said before, it doesnt really matter to me. i find the real releases to be way overpriced. they are of much, much better quality (packaging wise and shit) than the bootlegs. but yes, its expensive and for a lay fan it might not be worth it. but, actually i once bought the escaflowne boxset and like i said the subtitles were TERRIBLE. it wasnt worth watching at all. i instead watched my old school crappy real player escaflowne files. because of that i only buy legit releases from then on. i tend to not buy much cause they’re expensive. but im more careful nowadays. anyway, carry on.
lol. I didn’t mean to irritate you. Yes, I understand, who cares if they are bootlegs. I gotta admit, bootlegs have come a long way in terms of quality. Their image pressing of the DVD itself has gotten better. Images aren’t super zoomed in or have too much contrast. Of course, that only applies to some bootleg companies. They are nice boxes by the way. Nice, colorful, and compact.
The image quality and subtitles for alot of the bootlegs are are bad, but none of the ones I own are. I just checked, and the quality for my Trigun boxset, and it’s slightly inferior, if at all, then the american release. And looking at this huge, bulky thing with 8 dvds in makes me vomit. Good thing it’s not mine. But like they say, to each his own.
Wow, You guys have some good setups. My question is where do you guys get your posters? I’m moving into my apartment in August and I need some cool posters or wall scrolls.
I am sad to say that although I believe I did take some pictures a while back, I don’t have any of them with me here.
Here’s a pic of my Japanese gaming set-up, which is quite humble in contrast . . . underneath the table is a modified HRAP with all pink Sanwa parts. In the TV stand to the right of the PS2 (only system I took with me, since it’s most important) is my stick made by “Tha-Darkside”.
Well, you can’t tell from the picture, but just to the right of where the picture cuts off is where my bed is, and my bed is squished into the other corner of the room. Behind the curtain is the door to my balcony, which I need access to in order to hang my clothes out to dry (Japan still hasn’t discovered clothes dryers). With the TV in the corner, there is exactly enough room for one person to get through to the balcony. Japanese apartments are small compared to their American counterparts! =P Anyway, it works out fine, right behind the table I have a miniature couch which faces right towards the TV.
It’s Young Jump, the magazine I buy every week to read Gantz, my favorite manga. Like all manga magazines, there is a ton of manga in it but I read slow so I only am reading Gantz right now. There are also typically two Japanese gravure idol pictorials (non-nude) which is also pretty usual and a nice bonus in these type of magazines
Well here is what im wokring on now. It is a 2player cabinet with ps2/snes/supergun arcade hookups. I am building a custom supergun to have inside so I can play CPS2/1 boards just like the arcade. The controllers are swapable between Jap and american. So you can have either a full 1p and 2p american or sanwa set up and you can switch so you have 1p sanwa and 2p Happ P360 with competition buttons or vice versa. I am going to add DC support and Xbox after EVO.
I’d love to get one of those Hanaho Arcade PC cabinents.Would not get the Pc they sell with it though, just the cabinent and run splitter wires from my current Pc to the unit. But even the cab itself costs a fortune so…naaa.
I’ll stick with my Pc+Psx-to-usb converter, and PS2.
