Possibility of playing 3rd Strike with DS3

I feel the argument for stick has always been one about competitive play. Do you wanna play at events in the competitive circles of this community? Then you have to get used to the community standard of LS-32 stick on an arcade cab. You don’t wanna be biggiesmllllzzzz who showed up to summer jam, realized he couldn’t use his pad on an arcade cabinet, then peaced out.

If you just wanna play online or casually or at console tournies it doesn’t really matter what you use. Whatever works for you.

Keyboard is basically a hitbox, but it’s still ass, that’s some caveman shit.

Basically the argument against pad is: Why make things that are hard to execute on stick much more difficult or nearly impossible to execute by using a pad. Some games are fine, but 3s isn’t really one of them. But if you are willing to learn the game, play on whatever you have until you feel like switching to stick, because you wont be plugging your pad into a cab, no one runs console tournaments for the most part.

i already am the loser who goes and cries in the corner cause he can’t execute.
and i use a stick.

which is why i like charge characters
i can execute the timings just fine, tth, all remy’s esoteric bullshit, all no problem.

but 2xqcf from 1p side? whooooooaaaaaaaa hold on now. that’s some technical shit.

So far it’s been actually easier to play on keyboard than DS3, at least I can kara-throw but charge moves are for some reason a little harder to pull off and can’t cancel Chun’s houyokusen into sj and of course 360° are a no go, but since kara throwing is such a fundamental part of 3rd strike I’m not sure what to choose.

A DS3 controller is what I use and it’s fairly comfortable for me. I also accept that I’ll never become tourney level at this game or SF in general, though, so I haven’t tried a stick. Almost everything can be done well on DS3 except for maybe charge partioning, imo. I have a lot of trouble pulling that off.

I personally feel more comfortable with pad. If you like pads I recommend the HORI Fighting Commander.

There’s this model and the other asymmetric design seen here:

You can always learn stick as well, but ultimately it comes down to personal preference/practice as @Falzzi mentioned earlier.

I have trouble doing 2x qcb for supers, i can do 2 qcf for supers just fine on pad.
