Yeah, you got me there.
tw is excellent, but far from any kind of evo training.
tw-tekken br did absolutely nothing to help me train for strong style. And i dont think it will help me for evo.
you niggas need to get rid of tw team battle, and create something new that will help. LIKE TW coaching. top players will watch you. record you. and criticize you and make u feel like a scrub. and you can watch your match over and over and over again and learn to fix your mistakes.
I won’t be getting rid of the team battle. And as far as saying TW’s isn’t going to help people get ready for evo, for SFIV you’ve got players practicing specific match ups, you’ve got a small group of people (the teams) getting together and playing each other more than once a week and discussing matches and holes in their game, you’ve got other teams that are helping other teams for the sole purpose of them to beat a team that is their division.
You’re saying TW: Tekken didn’t help you get ready for strong style. I think if you sat down and thought about what you were/are doing during tournament wars you’ll find out exactly why it didn’t help.
how did a single game. team tournament help me for SS?
i have gotten to play 3 times in tw. vs 3 people.
jwo
rage
zig.
in total ive played about a total of 10 minutes.
10 minutes doesnt help me learn shit.
everyone from seattle got fucking bodied at SS. TW didnt do shit.
I think TW is very fun. like i said before it is excellent. but I think people are fooled into thinking its a great training tool for majors. I think there are much better ways to train and produce MUCH better results and much faster.
My prob is i choke hard. but the only way for me to improve on my nerves is by playing in high pressure situations over and over again. I dont get that opportunity in TW.
Singles is helping me level up alot. but the problem with singles is there is no helpful communication between players. thats cause everyone trying to win.
lol im just salty from my piss poor performance at SS. I <3 u frank and i know u work and think and plan a lot for TW.
^ That seems like a carefully reasoned argument. No, I am not being sarcastic.
I don’t understand how this keeps turning into a suggestions thread. I mean, that could be it’s own thread. I think people probably misconstrued what I said when I said “Understanding that Evolution is coming up soon, it would be great to have the HDR scene here have a place where they can compete regularly.” So allow me to elaborate.
The ST/HDR group here doesn’t come to TW. They don’t have a place to have tournaments. By creating this poll, I’m looking to see if people are willing to come out, because if they are, then hey, they’ll have a place they can compete. Tournaments and concentrated play help people get ready for big events. We all know that. They represent Seattle/NW at Evo also, so it’s only right to inquire.
KKF, you said TW T6 didn’t help you prepare for SS, is that TW’s fault, or the Tekken scene’s fault? Because I can tell you, I only fight against a small handful of characters. There aren’t enough Tekken players here and too many characters. People are spread out, and not only that, how often do people even get together for sessions? And when they do, do they even practice the correct way? Seems to me like people still run to other characters or their true mains the second they lose a match in a tournament instead of going hard from the get go. Which is what I think the problem’s always been in the post Ric era. The only thing wrong with TW T6 is the fact that it wasn’t 2/3. If Tekken players aren’t motivated to practice or play with each other then how is the only competitive outlet available to blame for their performance? I think a lot of what you’re saying sounds like general issues that should be directed towards the Tekken scene itself and not TW.
i complain all the time on tz. and i complain all the time in person about the scene.
u are correct in everything u posted. the size of the scene. the distance of players. its our own fault we got bodied.
all im trying to point out is that tw didnt help much at all.
i never said tw hurt anyone.
im not blaming our performance on tw. what im trying to say is that there are much better ways of training for majors.
TW is a hot spot for people to gather. There are better ways to use the time we spend at TW. how many other scenes have a hella bomb open spot like TW???
yet in my opinion we waste the opportunity. the whole night goes by while 2 people play, and 30+ spectate each match.
If u guys are serious about doing really good at majors (i know u guys are) there should be a brainstorm and rethink about what really helps. cause imo TW team battle is just for show.
ps. I personally thought tw-t6 would help by bringing in more players. but so far only danny has played in t6 singles. the advertisement to bring new players didnt work out as well as everyone thought it would.
sea tekken isnt the only scene in trouble.
my recent posts are from the things i learned at SS. i was learning about other scenes. tx. nyc. midwest. every region is dying. the story is the same all over the USA.
CALI is strong, but from talking to them. even their player base has shrunk.
there are 5 months till evo. will 1 ranbat, and 1 two man team tourney be enough to bring players up to a world class level?
i say no. but prove me wrong if u can
There won’t be a scenario where you’re the one being proved wrong in relation to Tekken. But you know what? It won’t be because of what TW does or doesn’t do for you. Plenty has to happen within that scene before you could ever worry about TW being able to “help” you guys. First thing being people actually playing with one another for keeps. And with that said, I’m done posting in this thread concerning this. We can continue this in pm, in person, whichever.
KrazyKoreanFrank, if you want to play at TWs so bad, either
join the singles before TWs
play casuals before TWs
play casuals after TWs
If you don’t want to watch 2 people play, don’t - nobody is making you stay. I doubt that Best Western wants to become the training ground for the next great Street Fighter - there’s tons of places you can play like Gameworks pretty much everyday, Tanaka’s, and soon hopefully the Afro dojo.
I bring a setup to TW every week.
I play in singles (and im learning how to run singles)
I play in casuals before tw.
I play in casuals after tw.
best western will do whatever it takes to keep revenue coming in. they are a business and they run on 1 motive. profit.
If keeping gamers around is profitable then why not keep the games going?
hotel business is a service / HOSPITALITY industry. so give a little service and be a little hospitable to the gamers.
All the gamers are asking for are a few fucking tables and a little electricity. nothing extravagent.
and for that we will keep spending money. If we hold a major, BW would be a exellent spot for it also.
the level of comp is too low at GW. and tanakas is for SF4. And i am the second roomate at the afro dojo.
deezo ill talk to u in person. Im horrible at trying to express my ideas and feelings on the internet.
I veer away from spectating and go torwards participation. I think people should play and get involved. not just watch and comment.
versus gaming atm is the fairest way for 2 individuals to compete. It does not require u to eat a specific diet. it does not require u do be in top prime physical condition. nor does it take years and years of training to play at a respectable amateur status. U dont need $1000s of dollars of equipment.
gaming balances the playing field. no genetic advantages. no racial advantages. no gender advantages. I feel gaming is a fun and fair way for everyone to compete.
so less watching, and more playing.
No, I hear you dude, but I tend to think of TW’s as 1 on 1 gaming in an organized manner. TWs can still continue, even if nobody shows up to spectate - there’s money on the line. However, TWs has been pretty invaluable to me on a personal level as a newcomer to the SFIV scene in Seattle in dealing how to play under pressure.
It has taught me, and is still teaching me how to play in high pressure situations. Playing in casuals or even in singles is one thing, but when you know you have the whole room watching your every move, you have to focus and just drown out the crowd. How do you expect people to go competing in EVO right away after playing at your friend’s house? I think of TWs as a stepping stone in that manner.
I think it is pretty tight TW would consider HDR. The game is still relevant despite all the worthy hateration towards it. The only reason I even showed up to TW in the beginning was to help the cause. I have dropped a few bills over this season at the bar with the hopes that management didn’t kick you guys out. It seems like it worked and I am glad. Although I don’t think I ever watched more than a single set of matches at TW, and I am being generous here because I find SFIV to be the most atrocious game to spectate. I don’t really see a problem with HDR on the line up. The game is hella fast would not really interfere.
Wow this thread got crazy. Twars isn’t meant to level you up. It’s meant to be the motivation FOR leveling up, which you go do yourself. Call people, get together, play. Study the upcoming matchups, trade ideas on what to do, get INVOLVED. But twars wont do it for you. If you ever thought otherwise then you clearly didn’t think about it that much. No offense.
Anyways.
EDIT: Says…Jared. Fan favorite to win a contest of off topic posts. Just saying.
STOP POSTING OFF-TOPIC BS.
Poll: Would you participate in HDR if it were to be included in TW season two?
That’s all you need to do: Vote. If you need to post something off-topic, go to the Get to Know a Negro Better Thread or something.
Shit.
I think HDR would be a pretty sweet addition. Maybe keep that 3 on 3 as this season’s TW instead of 2 on 2 like next season. It would bring in a different crowd maybe that shun SFIV and prefer it old school?
I would enter without second thoughts, but only if it’s HDR with it’s updated inputs and moves like Ryu’s fake fireball - don’t have any incentive to learn ST.
Vote or die
Then kill me.
If this thread gets closed, does the poll get closed also? I think it’s fair to say that this thread has outlived it’s usefulness and has shown that people are willing to play HDR at TW.
