Not necessarily, you could have two different Mega evos for two different situations, depending on the opponent’s team. For example, say I have Gardevoir and Lucario. I can either have Mega Gardevoir as a massive Special attacker or to help soak a special attack from the opponent. Or I can have Mega Lucario for massive physical attacking prowess and good speed. So you can adjust on the fly in a way.

Or something like Aggron and Lucario, either get a massive physical tank vs an opponent’s physical force or sweep them yourself.

Having 4 mega stones is definitely overkill though.

Were markings always intended to use for IVs? I thought, “6 stats/6 marks, coincidence?” I never heard people talk about markings but o used them. Come to find from trades that a fair amount of people use them too.

Basically, every player has a set “Trainer Value” while every Pokemon/Egg has a randomized “Shiny Value.” If the two values match up, when the Egg is hatched it will be shiny. This program allows you to see those values, along with damn near everything else, even before the egg is hatched.

Oh ok. Can someone check my shiny value thing then?

it’s really dumb to carry more than one megastone since it really hurts the value of the pokemon that doesn’t megavolve
also, carrying something like scizor, gengar, and lucario causes some mindfucks as each of these can megavolve but you don’t have a clue since all of them are completely viable on their own, this is a way better mindgame than carrying more than 1 megastone (as the pokemon who doesn’t megavolve still gets the boost)

also, if you’re trying to bluff a megastone, do not carry life orb or leftovers (or black sludge on a poison type)

The problem is, by relegating the use of useful items on said Pokemon, it’s basically the same as them carrying a Megastone, since the only other useful items would be Vest and Choice, and those are easy to read after a few turns anyhow.

Use Instacheck or go to the battle Institute in Lumiose and use an IV calc.
