My Mii character for the system is listed as Carlos (It was my bro’s system at first). I’ve since restarted and have my own. I’ll have to post the SECOND 3DS FC later (my system).

Anybody know if Pokemon-Amie affection resets if you do trade/trade back to evolve something?

I have a question. When it comes to pokemon nature, do those factor big time in competitive play. Like even if charizards EVs are maxed but his nature is relaxed. Does it make his viability any different?

What are natures? How do they affect gameplay?

I added you btw. I feel like rushing through the game just to get the Friend Safari Zone place, especially after finding out that the Pokes there come with 2 perfect IVs! I’ll feel like a kid in a candy store! :bgrin:

Curious does those Pokemon at Gamestop jump onto X or Y? Or i have to snag a old B/W 1 or 2 to grab them?

Well, the natures determine what of their stats are going to go up as its leveled. If you took 2 Charizards and one that has the better nature and EV trained vs one that is EV trained, the better nature will give a few more points more than the one that is just EV trained. I think VSlash said it was a +/- 17 difference (please correct me if I’m wrong), which is like, a possible 4 extra stat points you could have.

I found 8 EV reset bags in Special Training. Now, I can start training my Pokes better. I got my Eevee with max Sp. Def and SpA, so when I make it into Sylveon, I SHALL WRECK FACE. Re-doing my Delphox for SpA and Spd atm. Shit just takes a fuck ton of time.

Good question. I’ll have to look into that. But, I would assume that it would reset so that the affection is towards you and not the previous trainer… Then again, that is real world logic, not video game.

Natures dictate which stat will be bolstered, and which will be hindered. For example, an Adamant Nature boosts Attack, but lowers Special Attack. Some natures, like Hardy, have no effect at all. You can tell by the colors in the Status Menu.

Red - Raised, Blue - Lowered, None - Neutral

That said, they play a major role in Competitive Play, because they decide how high a stat can go. You would not want a nature that lowers Special Attack on a Pokemon that focuses on Special Attacks, and so on and so forth. Optimally, you would want a Nature that boosts your main stat, and weakens a stat you’re not using. It all depends on the set you’re running.

I believe @Saitsu did a guide on this as well.

are natures and IVs the same thing or not?

And just when I was getting the hang of Effect Values…

I’ll never learn this entire game…

Pokemon for most execution heavy game? yup. Move over GG,MVC2,KOF…

@Neesa, wanna help me evolve my Scyther? It has 2 Hearts, btw… We’ll see what happens when I get it back.

Nope. I’m not qualified to speak on IVs… I never really cared for them.

It seems like a lot but, you’ll get it. Pokemon is a lot like Fighting Games… At first glance, the ins and outs look intimidating but, once you know it, you know it.

Nope.

Natures basically tell you which stats a Pokémon has an advantage and disadvantage in. For example, any pokemon with an adamant nature will have a higher attack but a lower special attack than a pokemon of the same type but a different nature.

IV’s are randomized bonus stat points that differ from pokemon to pokemon.

@Saitsu, link me your guide so I can put it in this thread I’m finishing up.

Yeah. Send me a trade. Experiment time!

I made berry juice for my Pokemon and when I gave it to them it said their base speed stat was raised by 27 points. Those were evs correct?

Sounds like it. Berry Juice does that? I’ve never tried it…

Yeah, but Pokerus is a crapshoot to get plus Super Training still grants visible EV’s and progression.

If it does take a bit longer, it’s worth it due to simple convenience.

@Bious, I’m a bit busy right now, you’ll have to wait.

@Phantom It kept the fullness and enjoyment that it had, but lost all the affection.

Thanks, @Neesa.

Scizor still has 2 Affection, but 4 Fullness… You fed it?

Oh, no… interesting. So for a new trainer, it loses the affection, but keeps it for the OT. Guess my theory was correct then.
