Can someone explain breeding and IVs to me? I got a Chimchar via Wonder Trade that has a Jolly nature and Thunder & Fire Punch so I took it to the stats judge.
This means that the Chimchar has max IVs in HP, Attack, Defense, & Sp. Def, correct? Is there a specific way to ensure these IVs get passed down if I breed it? Is there a way to ensure that the punches get passed down? It’s male, by the way.
The “punches” are egg moves, moves that a pokemon can only learn through breeding. They get passed down to the baby as long as the parent still knows them.
Passing down IVs is a bit of a hassle. First, you need the Destiny Knot. This item will allow the IVs of each stat pass down from one of the parents (whichever parent is randomly selected). However, the stats are randomly selected as well.
For example, you breed a Ditto with max IVs in every stat, with a parent Pokemon with random IVs in every stat. Have one of the them hold the Destiny Knot, and not every max IV from Ditto will pass to the baby unless you are EXTREMELY lucky.
Basically for each stat, Ditto would have a 50% chance of passing down a max IV.

I also just got a feebas on Wonder Trade. It has hypnosis, so I’ll breed that for SRK. I don’t know what would be a good nature for that though.
Bold Milotics are usually the shit with Marvel Scale. Calm ones are also good if you just want to sit on the massive SpD.
So Bold will be the nature I’ll breed for. The one I got from the trade was a serious one :lol:
Well, I’d breed Bold Marvel Scales and Calm with the other abilities just to cover your bases.
