Point Akuma"

Thanks guys! The DF Palm obviously works off launches, probably because sj normals have more hitstun than nj normals. But yeah they seem to escape when I palm off a nj confirm. I’ll need to try it in training mode tho, very probably just timing it poorly. That said the jMHS FB/L Tatsu versions may be the way to go anyway.

Similarly, I’m trying to figure out how to best punish a chicken block. Dash under gets stale and easy to defend, attempts to go low eat an air normal, air grab not possible because of block stun, etc. For reference, likely my Akuma in this scenario is running drones or missiles.

That’s interesting about Ryu’s FB assist. Does it do anything some more mainstream projectile doesn’t? Like, just as an arbitrary example, can that relaunch or setup not work w/ Task arrows?

Yeah I think punishing with Akuma just comes down to making reads, least from what I’ve seen and from my own experience. I would love to be wrong though.

Kinda off topic, but I wish Akuma had an install super like Ryu’s Denjin Mode. Maybe like Shin Akuma or something lol.

Just hit 9th lord…I still suck at this game but winning matches now. I know I have a long way to go. I have been using Akuma/Iron Man/Sentinel and I think it’s pretty good, but I want to try out Akuma with Vajra assist but I don’t want to use Doom…lol. Is there anyone else that makes a decent middle and/or battery character for these two, preferably with a beam or projectile assist for Akuma and the ability to combo off of Vajra knockdowns?

Honestly I think vajra is kind of a waste of an assist for akuma. He has the tools on his own to deal with projectile heavy characters, and he has a really clean superjump conversion with j.H, rdp LL. I messed around with a bit of akuma/arthur/strider, and akuma/strange/strider. Doom is probably your best choice as boring as it may sound, but dante with weasel shot might be really good too. Be sure to do some experimentation since point akuma isn’t the most thoroughly explored so I could easily be missing something.

I don’t get a whole lot of time to practice, but I have finally settled down on Akuma (tatsu)/ Deadpool (quickwork)/ Strider (Varja). Kind of a glass cannon team, but hoping to have some fun and find some tech.

I’m gonna do Akuma/Arthur/Hawkeye. Gonna have to be really conservative about using meter and xfactor but outside of that i think it could work okay.

Ideally I’d start Akuma then DHC to King’s Arthur and tag Hawkeye after I kill the first character. Then I get to close with Hawkeye with Gold Arrows plus Hawkeye.

I would suggest Hawkeye/Akuma/Arthur or maybe Akuma/Hawkeye/Arthur. I think daggers and tatsu are actually two of the best assists you can choose for hawkeye, and gimlet to akuma beam is a great DHC. I think Hawkeye uses dagger assist very well, but arthur is just alright with hawkeye’s assists so I would put arthur last. I would try to figure out if any of hawkeye’s assists can get you an extension with akuma. After your last air combo, a lot of characters have an assist that gives akuma an exention like: assist + dash back rdp L~M, (assist hits), launch, j.H, tatsu, super.

Randomly decided to fuck around with point Akuma the other day. Gonna try Akuma/Rocket Raccoon/Doom in casuals today and see how that goes lol.

Spitfire Twice looks like it’ll be a good assist for Akuma since it’s basically Drones that the opponent can’t duck under and it works well with Tatsu pressure and confirms. The DHC to Rocket is crazy damaging. I think it does a bit more than double supers with Akuma. Plus if you DHC to Rocket for the kill, you get to set up his silly incoming mixups, and I think Tatsu is good for the furball anyway.

And then missiles are missiles. Though I might try switching out Rocket for Strange in the future and see how that goes.

Double posting but it doesn’t matter because the thread is dead:

Going to run Akuma/Dante/Doom instead. Having jam session and beam with Akuma is too good.

It’s been a while. Not sure if anyone even still looks here but here’s some point akuma stuff:
