Ok, I get what you’re saying and you’re right. But if you do press a weaker button before the stronger one by that 1 frame it takes the first priority (just like your LP~anything example). So yeah, strength priority matters, but you gotta make sure you hit the button you want first. That seems like the hardest part for most people. Someone on irc earlier compared it to akira’s knee in vf5, but most people haven’t even played that enough.
you could press lk after the mk to make this work also.
if you were trying to link to say a HK as an example… then you could press HK> anybutton besides fierce, because HK outprioritizes everything besides specials supers and ultras
pressing fierce would get you a taunt in this situation.(unless you were crouching)
also to go with what yeb was saying here the input priorities as i know them from least priority to most:
lp>LK>MP>MK>FP>HK
then command normals, F+MK as an example.
then two button specials: throws, focus and taunts.
then specials
then ultras
then supers
or supers then ultras (dont know which of those have priority)
this isnt a perfect reflection though as it seems that two button specials are outprioritized by crouching normals, and i think Focus attack may be higher up than throw and taunt, perhaps even higher than certain specials…
1st frame) MK
2nd frame) MK + LK (which due to priority…actually gets read as MK)
Right…so if I see this clearly…then all this really is, is tacking on a lower priority attack button immediately after, and that somehow due to fucking insane capcom voodoo, turns into TWO of the higher priority inputs?
**So…to try another example:
Standard input combo:
c.lkx3 -> c.mk
With the Plinking technique becomes:
c.lk -> c.lk -> c.lk -> c.mk~c.lk
Which sequences as (top to bottom):
lk
lk
lk
mk
mk+lk (which due to priority gets read as mk alone)**
the no part was that your answer although right, wasnt the WHOLE answer, you left out that mk out prioritizes mp lk AND lp… small beans i know, but if people want to UNDERSTAND whats going on they probably need the whole pie not just a slice…
of course we cant use mp tho because that would turn it into a FA and that outprioritizes all normals.
didnt mean to cause no ill will
get on 360 so we can woop each other up foo, im bored, we’ll talk.
lol. No worries. I didn’t know what you were talking about. I just wrote it out using his example so he can understand right away. Come over this week, i can show you some more shortcuts. I bet you can find a few more tricks with chun-li
Nice. The little light-up buttons really put the timing in perspective.
This sort of thing has always been possible I thought. First thing I thought of when I saw this thread was comboing Ken’s cr.short into super in ST. Once you get used to the timing, the outcome is pretty stellar.
it’s an exploit of the in game system that effects button priority, not characters.
the only things it doesn’t work for are standing jab, crouching jab, and standing short. (unless there’s a clever way to do this i haven’t thought of?)
