E3 Impressions from Ultradavid’s Twitter
Jak why are you even responded to this? Everyone who has actually played the game recently has said it’s totally different and a very solid and fun game. From tournament players to random scrubby website writers they have all enjoyed the game and said it is unique.
I trust Edma and seasoned game developers more than emotional guys on the internet. This is Superbot’s first high profile game, they will do everything they can to make it a success.
These games are similar in some ways they will always be but the gameplay itself is much different that’s what matters.
Exactly. I may end up having to eat my words because I’m not lucky enough to play the game yet to understand it.
Nevertheless, first impressions and speculations based on E3 trailers are standard fare and are to be expected.
Even sillier when those same people blast the game for not being enough like the game they claim it’s ripping off. Complains about the KO mechanic and the score not showing in time matches are actually this.
This is one of the things that makes me wanna explode sometimes, peeps complain the games a ripoff, then I see the same people turn around and complain that there aren’t any ringouts(or w/e smash calls those things) and just how it isn’t like smash. Oh well w/e, let em hate.
Glad to hear davids impressions, hope he writes a full on impression, would like to hear full on impressions, maybe even some slight character analysis.
I will win evolution 2013 with parappa
Then my friends will join me in performing "we gotta believe " live

Maj answering a few questions about mechanics.
Something I noticed when watching some videos. Characters can change direction in mid-air. So I’m assuming that means no backwards aerial attacks. Probably means you have the same air control in either direction, not sure what this means for the game play but on paper it sounds like much tighter air control than smash.
Tomba for All Stars.
Tomba games were ass from my 8 year old memory, I don’t want that shit character in my All-Stars. Plus I think he has a bunch of licensing issues so…
Now a Yu-Gi-Oh character would be funny as hell just to take a shot at Nintendo. Get the “king of games” in here for huge lolz
Now you have to leave SRK forever.
I just hope if they add cole they go with infamous 1 cole and not 2. Nothing against the cole in 2 I just don’t like the way he looks.
You really liked those games? I always thought they were like crappy playstation version of Mario personally.
Of course I haven’t played those games since I was like 7-8 but from what I remember it wasn’t special at all.
Agreed.
I don’t think the guys making this game really know what they’re doing. They’re just making a crossover fighter for the sole purpose of having one. They don’t really seem to know what makes crossover fighters a fangasm for everyone involved.
The stages look incredibly lame. Mostly boxed-in arenas where the potential for fanservice or staying true to the original games is impossible due to the fact that they’re mashups of several games. They’re forgetting that the small details make crossover fighters fun. Remixes of the original games’ music and staying true to the original games’ art styles and aesthetics. Don’t they know the excitement caused by hearing something like this for the first time?

MVC3 did fanservice well, and so did SSBB. This game doesn’t seem to be aiming for any real fanservice, it’s just trying to sell itself on the pure novelty of being a crossover fighter, and completely ignoring all the little details in the process.
@ SaikoJosh
All the characters are done in their own games’ art style so I don’t know what your problem is. I don’t give a shit about fanservice personally I just wanna fun crossover fighting game that’s balanced and has characters I actually care about.
Getting the fighting right is far more important to me than any of the shit you’re talking about (music, annoying constantly changing stages).
This game is doing almost everything right imo and I’ll take these guys over the broken gameplay the Smash guys delivered.
That’s actually not nearly as exciting as you make it out to be. When I look at this game I come to the realization that its roster will be mostly comprised of either “guys with guns” or “guys with swords”.
MGS = guy with gun
Killzone = guy with gun
Resistance = guy with gun
Starhawk = guy with gun
SOCOM = guy with gun
Payday = guy with gun
Uncharted = guy with gun
Jak & Daxter = cartoony guy with gun
Ratchet & Clank = animal guy with gun
Last of Us = guy with gun
MAG = guy with gun
Wipeout = car with gun
DMC = guy with sword and guns
Shadow of the Colossus = guy with sword
God of War = guy with swords
Final Fantasy = Guys with swords or gunswords (Cloud,/Sephiroth,/Squall)
Demon’s Souls = Guy with sword
3D Dot Game Heroes = Pixel guy with sword
MediEval = Skeleton guy with sword
And who’s left after all this? Sackboy? Crash? The game is so heavily skewed towards human-like characters that it gives the cartoonier characters little breathing room, and it seems like the game will just be overrun by “dudes” instead of characters that are unique or iconic. Hell they even gave Sackboy a gun in his games, and his moveset is already limited as fuck so of course his little gun is going to be one of his attacks.
What are you talking about? Sackboy could be anything so how in the blue hell is his arsenal limited?
If you played alot of those games you’d know how different many of those game’s characters are from one another and it just seems like you’re trying to dislike this game.
Rachect’s moveset will be completly different from someone like Jak or Cole. I hope he can turn his opponents into sheep or something.
No they’re not. Sly Cooper, Fat Princess and Parappa look awkward as fuck in addition to not looking anything like their original game counterparts.
That’s not the same art style at all. One’s cel-shaded and cutesy while the other is more like a pixar cartoon. I mean even Toon Link in Brawl retained his original art style.****
If you don’t give a shit about fanservice then go play something else you idiot. There’s plenty of mundane balanced fighters out there for you to choose from. This game is supposed to be for people who DO care.
They have different guns and swords, wow, that doesn’t really change my point at all. Their movelists will mostly borrow from the same pool, it doesn’t matter how different the characters are personality-wise, you’re completely missing my point. There’s only so much that can be done with characters normal moves when they’re all this similar. I mean if Radec has a rocket launcher then none of those other gun guys better have any rocket launchers otherwise it’s going to get really stupid, really fast.
Snake was unique in Brawl in that he was the ONLY person to use realistic guns. Now in a game where most of them are using it, he loses his identity.
Sackboy can LOOK like anything, he doesn’t actually change into stuff. I mean he can look like Zangief but that doesn’t mean they’re going to give him a Final Atomic Buster as his super.
I already told you asshole. This game looks fun and I wanna play it, why would I care about fanservice at all when most of these games are still fairly recent. I could just go into my game library and play the games again.
Fanservice was more important to brawl than this game because alot of Smashes characters aren’t gonna be getting another game where you KNOW many of these characters will be in new games eventually.
