Anyways is there any gameplay for Big Daddy or Nathan yet?

Just a little bit.
Why does this video have so many dislikes?
I mean it seems like people are just purely against the concept of an all-Sony fighter. I don’t think that’s a bad idea in and of itself but the gameplay in this definitely looks bad. Supers shouldn’t be the only way you can kill people.
From what I can make out, Nathan has a move where you can pull out a mini wall to use as cover and can go prone. Pretty neat that they incorporated the cover based mechanics of Uncharted into his gameplay.
Fat Princess should have a “cake level” system where she starts out thin and gets fatter as you eat cake. The fatter she is the more damage she does.
Build more meter you mean? There’s no health in this game for damage to matter.
I know but that can’t be how the final game will be. It’d be too stupid for words.
The hate on this game is pretty stupid. How many fighters were spawned from the example of Street Fighter II?
I would be more interested in this game if it didn’t look so bland. The stages are generic, it looks too dark and the characters don’t stand out much from the background. Fat Princess look weird considering she’s supposed to be cel-shaded. Smash Bros. is way more aesthetically pleasing than this.
This is just not true and makes me not take you seriously. The stages in this game is awesome and every site I’ve seen love them. The rest of your post is subjective I guess so whatever.
It’s funny how many Nintendo heads are blindly hating on this game. They go out of their way to hate on this game even going on Youtube looking for vids of this and clicking dislike and posting hateful comments on the vids that make little to no sense.
This game has reminded me just how many fanboys Nintendo has which is easy to forget because I don’t play their games. They have an army of militant Mario loving drones that hate anything that opposes Nintendo.
Well everyone thats actually played it said its fun, plus I find it funny that on one hand people chastise the game for being a smash bros clone, but on the other hand criticize it for any gameplay additions it tries to do differently(like the fact that it uses meter as opposed to health). But some people just enjoy hating so yea.
Personally Im just surprised they only announced 2 characters at e3(and it was 2 leaked characters for that matter) and have only announced what, 8 characters so far? I mean for a game supposed to be coming out in the fall they’ve been pretty mum about it.
I do admit the graphics leave a little to be desired but graphics have always been the least of my concerns in any video game.
I like the concept of PlayStation Smash Bros. but when I first saw it I just wasn’t that impressed. It has all the characters and the worlds they hail from but it lacks the personality. It’s like in Smash Bros. you can play Mario on a Pokemon stage and it feels like you’re playing Mario and it feels like you’re playing on a Pokemon stage. In this game you have a visual style that looks very dull, some of the characters don’t look right (Fat Princess and Parappa in particular) and the stages are mishy-mashy which I personally dislike. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it can’t be a good game or that I wouldn’t enjoy it.
I don’t think the creators of this game understand that what made Smash Bros a great fanservice game was a commitment to aesthetics. Music choice and the appearance of stages were both very important. But when I see them mashing up two franchises into one stage I think they miss the forest for the trees. They don’t give enough of a shit about the original franchises and that’s why this game seems to have no soul. Music, colors, textures, every choice you make to represent a game is completely important. They don’t care about something like the music from the games and that’s why I think they’ve already failed.
Honestly, i just don’t think it’s “right” to put in your tags “Super Smash Brothers” “Super Smash Bros” and whatnot
The game looks fun as pretty much any smash-like game does.
it looks pretty clunky though
Yeah we both have most of same feelings, I feel people just don’t know what they want from this game so they shit on everything. I tend to enjoy the art style tho and I love that all the characters look like they do in their own games instead of making them all the same type of look.
I also agree that I wanted more than BD and Drake because I’m most interested in Cole and Crash. But the gameplay I saw looks damn good to me and I’m a fan of supers kill only gameplay so far.
This game has the PS personality which is naturally darker than nintendo’s which may be what you dislike. This game won’t be for everyone like Smash isn’t for many. I dig it personally because I’m a fan of many of these games.
I also think the mixing of two worlds thing, the characters looking different styles, etc is all meant to make this stand out from Smash which I think it does very well by the comments I keep seeing. It can’t be a clone and look so different that it turns away some smash heads.
I can see where you guys are coming from with how this game is lacking a certain “charm” that Smash is known for. When Ed Ma won that little demo during Sony’s press conference, it felt anti-climatic because there was no big celebration victory tune like SSB. It seemed dead and it would be cool if they change it to be more lively to match the the ‘hectic’ pace of the game.
Still, PS All-Stars does look kinda fun. They may not be paying much detail to music, but the characters’s movesets and mannerisms look like they were taken straight from their respective games (Drake’s jump arc is EXACTLY how it is in Uncharted). IMO they’re doing a better job representing the character’s roots than some of things Nintendo did in that regard at least. Ganondorf’s moveset was T-RASH.
The stages being mash-ups isn’t necessarily a bad idea, though. I think the devs wanted to capture that feeling of universes colliding since you have 4 different franchises duking it out. My only gripe with the stages right now is the lack of contrast between the background and the characters. I can barely tell what’s going on since a lot of the stages are dark as fuck.
Been trying to find some hand-on videos/previews from the show floor but not much luck outside of typical casual/mainstream outlets giving the same “it’s like smash bros. BUT NOT” view. Anyone find anything about the control details (like rolling/dodgeing etc…) or anything of that sort?
I can’t remember what site it was on but I recall they said 3 of the face buttons were for attacking, x was for jumping and the right analog stick was for throws. Thats about as indepth as any of these previews have gotten, the rest spoke about shit we already know, although one did mention that the big daddy was pretty darn slow(and questioned why fat princess was so fast, and went on to ask for a balance patch, Im like really?).
Yeah, I mean more intricate stuff like dodging and rolling, if they even exist. Is blocking frontal or all around? Is there a “blocking shield”? So on so on…
I like the mash-up stages. Some of them mash-up series complement each other every well. Having the Patapons attacking GoW version of Ares is a stroke of genius. Misty Island from Jak and Daxter could easily be envision as a golf course for Hot Shots Golf. The mash-ups are pretty inspired.
