Question: Aren’t those with evo points supposed to skip the pool stage? I remember them doing that in 2009 for players who went to the national tourney.

ChinNuts: no, you just get seeded away from other seeds, ie, you get an easier path out of pools.
They stopped doing that after 09 when there was some controversy (mostly with Daigo getting seeded based on being a “special guest” at the Gamestop finals, and which tournaments were chosen for seeding), and the larger pools in 2010 likely played a role in that as well.
I think byes that big are just a bad idea for what is supposed to be a fair and open tournament.
EDIT: Just heard that Chikyuu is coming? Didn’t even know he was still around, haha. No idea if he’s playing any of the main games, hope he’s got some wack Marvel 3 team…
nah, pretty sure that was a troll entry that I didn’t catch right away. I’m still trying to verify that along with some other things (most notably fanatiq in mvc3)
