Probably didn’t read it >.> As for douglas perhaps he meant the mixups on block or dodge bc that actually works. All guides were copied and pasted so it could say anything. But thats what everyone else is for so we dont have the crappy guides and shit. In any case from what i see so far tunneling your guide seems to be looking good so far.
Yeah I respect that guy’s resolve to get the community together. But that site seems clan-ish. I used to do the whole clan thing years ago and it’s not for me anymore.
Dougie’s DA mixups on guard are good options, but if you are combo’ing someone already yeah no.
I’ve looked at their guide and its kind of really basic compared to what mine is going to end up as. Don’t mean to gloat or anything but just having the bread and butter combos available? The game is already stale, learning swag combos, and then PULLING THEM OFF–is incredibly satisfying.
I kind of wanted to make my guide to help EVERYONE. New and Old players alike, you will find something to experiment with. I can’t imagine how many people would’ve stuck with this game if there was someone there to explain things and help them along. This game is confusing as fuck when you start out.
Edit: For those in support, I highly recommend asking that guy running the website to at least make the combo lists they are using universal. X X X X or whatever is 360 strict and it might confuse players on the PS3 side looking for information. Dunno, that’s just me. It’s why I made mine with a key, not with specific button inputs.

Well, back to work on my guide… I’m thinking about adding ability rundowns. Making it a fortified multi-player guide like I wanted to originally, more work but… if its going to be the only AR guide in existance ever then I may as well go all out right? Because I suck with all of them, I’m trying to learn Mathilda but its very difficult, she’s got a medium tier-move set with light HP and light guard. It just doesn’t work She gets stunned trading jabs, her LKW string juggle drops people all the time in lag. Can’t combo into her aHKW without TONS of lag.
Her few saving graces are her loops and her easy-mode charge attacker loop but is that really all there is to her? She needs better core game-play. Not just loop abuse. She doesn’t have the TOOLS for core gameplay, crappy shift heavy, crappy dash, crappy lean, crappy LKW string. Good charge HKW’s. I mean, wat do with this bitch. Seriously.
She has a jump cancel that I like making use of. Also her charge H is good at breaking shield but unsafe if done too far from opponent. Don’t use charge H against characters with diving KWs.
Yeah, she has that out of Jab(1) but she doesn’t have good options out of it that don’t drain her meter completely. Actually tested that earlier today and she can only aLKWx3, 4th doesn’t connect. Fucking hilarity ensued. She’d be better if she had a good combo aHKW like everyone else 'cept bull.
Fear I can write up something for Bayo and give it to you over the weekend. You just need combos, and guard pressure strings, right?
As far as Mathilda, yeah. She’s pretty bad. Not Bull bad, but yeah, bad. Her aKWH only really works on people who don’t get up properly or team combos. A combo I do after her AA is aKWLx2 > aKWH. It only works on people who don’t tech roll the minute they bounce off of the ground. Works more often than fails.
I used to main Mathilda. I like her a lot for her attack speed and her delay pressure. I heard people saying she was bad recently, even though I’ve always found her a solid character and she is really destructive at sneak attacks and ganging up on people with her charge HKW. Seems like she is one of the characters that really benefits from stuff like twitch canceling as well.
Mathilda’s best perk in any mode is Charge Attacker as she gains some really good loops off of it. She can loop the following: Hold block* W-cH
(c for charged, you charge it slightly not all the way since your opponent will be on the ground if you do.) W-W-cH (A little hard to time since the charge shouldn’t be held too long and not too short.)
Mathilda can also combo into her infinite series from the W-cH loop. After doing the cH, you can do H-*W-H-AA-aW-aW <-repeat or W-AA-aW-aW(pushes opponent away unless near wall) or W-aW-aW-W-cH into w/e just experiment. Hell Mathilda has some variety in her combos depending on what you feel like using or if you’re near a wall. Her 100% combos don’t show unless you’re in a mode with level 3 or feel like doing like 3-4 reps of her infinite into KW something. You can just do the charge attacker loop(calling it the prostitute loop) into a wall and kill from there or if not near a wall, do it until half life. But that feels lazy so do H into her infinite BnB after landing one or two W-cH.
Without it do combo’s like: H-W-AA-aW-aW or her infinite series (in case you don’t know, here is a reminder H-*W-H-AA-aW-aW) and end them with jKWL spam or 2jKWL into jKWH (Works if you do it fast enough… not offline and most likely in laggy online play.)
This combo is Cage match specific (maybe doable near walls) like the first two combo’s mentioned above except you mash the aW’s then/or go straight into mashing jKWL’s into more aW mashing. If your opponent isn’t too far away (since this does push your opponent far), by the time you land you get to do her W-AA-nonsense. Requires KW meter to be less than 4 maybe 3.
*This is in case you get a stun or something that helped you combo them. If an enemy is frozen just jKWH them, her KWH is too slow.
*Time the aW. Its 1…2… not 1212
Mathilda can jump cancel her lean like all the girls, leads to an easy confirm for her combos or general stun baiting air moves. AAc is something I can’t do too easily with her but she does have some uses for that. Her KW glitch is damaging and doing raw jKWH is good for opponents who like to mash buttons since the stun from jKWH for most characters stays out for a long time (Good tool for Bull as well). If in the air and/or you drop a combo, just do her jKWH raw for stun setups.
In ability modes with charge attacker her pokes are her W-cH consistently on an opponents shield. This shit instant guard breaks those without Guard Master. Without it, W(Any number of them before the last one or a H)-*W-LKW (Any amount. Watch and stop yourself if your opponent is not getting hit by any move here); W-AA-any of her air moves or none of em if you don’t want to be too vulnerable. Her dash attacks give chase and are a little bit faster than Jacks and Barons. Overall average pressure… not Rin or great pressure and she has trouble catching infinite dodging, guard master and master evaders.
Like PandaKing said, she is pretty beast if you’re good at twitch cancelling and her best role is a supporting role (staying in the back with her KW charged murking people). Her defense is shit though so Infinite rolling isn’t a bad thing to do with her. For running she also has her dash attack and charged dash attack (which goes across roofs on certain maps)
Don’t use her 360 attack its terrible…

Also extra responses: @Tunneling Her delayed weak is good for pressure and baiting 360’s (ESPECIALLY Zero’s!). It’s like Jack’s W-*W stuff, you can either wait or do more stuff from it (Doing W-*W-cH is good for shield breaking too). The fact that she can block during any hit of her prostitute loop is an amazing 360 bait. Add AAc to that? HELLO STUFF! Mathilda’s jab options are amazing!
She’s a character that you cannot play blindfolded like a certain few but shes not complete ass and takes some patience to use. I will agree on her ground KWL string being ass but it comes out fast during someones 360 attack when shes in rampage so it has its use. If I were to describe her in two words she’d be a patient supporter.
