They work in opposite situations so it’s not really an either/or decision.(The Hkw glitch doesn’t work if the Lkw would deplete your bar, which is the only situation the other one works in apparently)
I wouldn’t purposely deplete my bar though. If you’re tryin to bait a clash or stun you can just jump in mashing lights by themselves.
Yeah, but seeing how fast you regain your KW meter anyway except for maybe Durga (or it’s just me)…
Anyway, I was thinking about each character’s fighting style and here’s what I came up with:
Big Bull: Baji Quan
Rin Sisters: Kung Fu
Oinkie: Karate
Zero: Ninjutsu, Iai
Baron: Boxing
Durga: Well since he only uses kicks… Taekwon do? dunno
Jack: Street brawling, chainsaw ass-kicking arts
Garuda/Gargoyle: ?
Douglas: Brawling.
Mathilda: Bitch slapping.
Max, Nikolai, Sasha: Cybrid Arts
Leo: Muay Thai, Cybrid Arts
Bayonetta: uh… Pole dancing?
I think Mathilda is also in the street brawling category(though a lot more feminine, sort of like poison).
Durga seems to do a mix of Kickboxing and Taekwon do.

I give up trying to play Jack, he’s just THAT bad. I can’t even get one good match to upload with him on youtube. Why the hell is one of the main characters that bad?
Whats so bad, he appears to have a good lean attack and jumping chainsaw is ridiculous. His uppercut also seems to have wtf priority for no reason. His KWH charge is also pretty good. He also does respectable damage. You can’t play him by walking around and pressing heavy, but I still don’t see how not being braindead makes him bad.
The problem with him is priority and combos. I don’t know how you manage to have priority with his uppercut but I can’t land a single one without being stunned. His dash attack is just plain terrible, unlike other characters the only way he can really combo is with by starting with a strong, his jumping KWH doesn’t have much range compared to other characters and is pretty obvious. His ground KWH is slow as fuck and doesn’t have much range too. And sorry but I don’t play him by walking around and pressing heavy hoping to hit something, same with the other characters. And every character in this game can do respectable damages.

I thought most characters couldn’t. I know Jack can > light x 4 or however many > shift combo > KWL x 4 all as 360 bait, but that only really applies in cage matches I guess.
Why are you even trying to jump on people with KWH? That leaves you far more vunerable than just trying to do an uppercut, correct? Just jump and do KWL, it always seems to hit me. His regular KWH sucks on the ground, yes. You could probably do a partially charged KWH in the same amount of time. So do that instead I guess.
Yeah those aren’t really practical outside of cage matches unless you’re 100% sure you’re not going to be interrupted by someone.
Bayonetta can start her infinite off her ground weak attacks, she can go into an un360able ground KW weak chain using her delayed weak attack. Leo can start a combo off his dash attack and delayed weak, Zero can start a combo off his delayed weak and his dash attack, Sasha can combo off her charged HKW, Douglas can combo after his dive punch and can start a combo from a weak attack, Oinkie got his ground infinite so he doesn’t care about combos, Durga can jump cancel his delayed weak, Garuda/Gargoyle can start a combo from a dash attack or a jump cancelled lean attack, Rins can combo with everything, Big Bull can combo off his LKWx2, Baron can combo off his dive punch, Max can combo from his counter and delayed light and that’s it.
The only characters that can’t truly combo off anything else than a strong attack starter are Nikolai, Jack and Mathilda(without charge attacker for her).
When baiting an attack such as a dash attack or a lean attack when you’re at the right distance or when there’s a big brawl, doing jump HKW can be effective. It’s a bet but that’s the only way I use it outside of combos (and the air KW glitch) and it can prove to be effective in both scaring your opponent and giving you an advantage. Also jump KWL doesn’t give you that extra height a jump KWH do, so it’s not as good to bait dash attacks. And partially charged KWH does crap damage, doesn’t have that much range, doesn’t guard break and is probably unsafe (dunno how to check on that though).

Most of the characters you mentioned can use their shift to start a combo. I thought we were talking about regular lights. Even though it doesn’t knock the opponent airborne, his shift combo is still pretty good. Tracks, very little recovery, chains into KWL.
What’s shift? Delayed attack? And by combo I mean one that juggles your opponent and can end in KWx4/the glitch, so a real combo.
Jack is usable, but he’s still ass.
Don’t try and defend him because compared to every other character in the game, he is the worst.
You can definitely win with him, he isn’t absolute shit, but he is ass.
I actually do strangely well when I pick him though (as do the others I know), that is why I question if he’s really bad when he’s a total joke on paper.

Am I missing something, or are they just randomly deciding now to play and review the Japanese version?
I remember IGN doing a poll asking readers if they wanted an advanced review. I don’t think they ever got to it but I know another site posted a review, just can’t remember atm. At first I thought 7.0 was kind of harsh but he made some valid points in the review. I knew having this many players online in a technical game such as this would be a problem. That being said I totally disagree about the dialogue, I think it’s awesome! I do give platinum games props for being ambitious enough to try something like this during the current gen. Hopefully a sequel comes out next gen when the graphics,storage,ram and hopefully internet structure worldwide gets better.
