Physical Therapy: Valentine Combo thread

Almost 8 hours later and I still haven’t done that combo lol. Corner one is free, the midscreen one is a bitch.

Here’s a question. The air dash cancels you guys are doing to start new chains in the air, are you dashing forwards or backwards?

This is probably the most practical for the midscreen combos.

  1. there is no dash jumping
  2. the j.HP-j.HK xx ad/f j.MP-j.HK is the brunt of the damage for the combo.

You will drop this combo mostly after the 2nd j.HK cause you mistimed something earlier that made you not land in time for a rejump j.LP. At that point isn’t pretty neutral and Valentine still can keep momentum. Pulsr’s combo is great, but you’re mainly going to be dropping the run-jumps which is going to be a huge issue cause completely whiffing your j.MK and open to being punished and lose momentum.

I posted something about this in the team/assist thread, but found something last night using Filia sub with H.Updo assist…working out the optimization, atm I was using this as a meter builder so there’s a lot of needless extra hits that up the scaling, but corner combo, only confirmed on Parasoul so far, will work out the others when I can.

If anyone wants to clean that up for better damage, the basic gist is using Updo to load poison so you can land it in the same combo. Also if someone could double-check on if that’s a clean otg, I believe it is as I didn’t see any blue while doing this, but I could use confirmation.

i sort of switched this combo around i didn’t start off with a throw i just went straight into a launcher
i have a question about the last chunk. i can’t seem to land the land, dash, mp, mk, hk x3, qcf. hk, qcf. kk
as soon as i land and try to dash into mp the combo ends…any tips?

Pulsr, do you use 2punches or your stick for air dashes and your dashes upon landing? I’ve gotten to where I can consistently do the air dashes with my stick but still trying to land the dashes after landing into the ground chain.

How are you even getting those jump dashes? I cannot for the life of me get that shit down.

My general rule of thumb is if you can use buttons to dash, you use buttons to dash :stuck_out_tongue:
Though when I do run jumping I do ff, uf. It’s probably because of guilty gear.

Does that bluebounce off the wallbounce? Around the 12s mark.

Thats a bit risky to execute with buttons, if you mistime, you can end up with an airdash cause you aren’t on the ground yet.

I’ve been experimenting with another way to input the run jump.

Which is: f, d, df, f, uf.

Basically tap forward once, then do a “tiger knee” motion. I believe this helps the game register the run before uf. Its hard to do f, (neutral), f, (neutral), uf raw. Play around with the tiger knee input see if that helps.

still need some help with this ANY advice would be helpful. do i have to be a certain height? slow? fast? anything.

I’m having a little bit of trouble with this combo, particularly after the second bodybag (J.HK) I don’t understand if I am supposed to let all of the J.LP hits go through or am I supposed to cancel early. Is this combo anywhere on video.

and I’m a little confused what you mean by all the j.LP hits, do you mean all the j.MP hits?
Because if you mean j.MP hits then I think I average about 4 hits with it. I found this combo out on Cerebella so it might help if you practice it on her.

Here are a couple things that might help:
-Don’t cancel the air dash for the j.mp too fast, just test it out on a couple characters and you will get a feel for it
-Do the j.lp as early as possible,
-With j.MP it seems to hold you in the air if hit with the first hit otherwise you fall pretty quickly and it will almost always mess up the combo
-If you are quick once when you land and dash into the S.lp xx S.mp xx S.mp xx C.mk xx C.hp then the first s.mp can knock them too high or to far forwards and they will drop out of the combo, a solution is to cancel into the second s.mp quickly because it pulls them towards you
-I find it best to only do the first hit of the c.mk because it can be a little picky on whether or not the c.hp will connect afterwards
-Try to get as few hits with the j.lk because it falls really fast and will usually make the downward angled j.mp miss if you do too many hits
-For the final j.mp xx j.hk it is usually the safest to cancel pretty early because you aren’t going to lose much damage and if you wait too long then the first hit of the j.hk can be too low to hit so they will drop out of the combo

Yeah, I meant j.MP, this is very helpful, I can do the combo virtually effortlessly on Double for now, but I’m having trouble with a few other characters, on Filia and Valentine, I find it much easier to just drop the first body bag. Maybe I’ll record the combo later tonight.

c.HP, jump cancel, J.HP xx J.hk, air dash cancel, J.mp xx J.hk, land, Jump, J.lp xx J.mp xx J.hk, land, dash, S.lp xx S.mp xx S.mp xx C.mk xx C.HP, jump cancel, J.lk xx J.MP xx J.HK xx QCF K xx QCF KK

I find that I pretty much have it down, although it is way easier to do on heavier characters, particularly Double and Cerebella. For lighter characters, it’s just way easier to omit the first J.HK, still has solid damage output and looks bad ass. Very easy to hit confirm into with J.HP.

Hopefully I’ll be able to get that amazing pulsur combo down eventually, so bad ass, but I haven’t even tried it yet, very intimidating.

Has anyone tried doing Valentine’s loop with a.Dead Cross? I’m trying to figure out how to bypass the IPS for me to loop a second time
