Philippine Top Players Thread 3.0

Pretty much most of the women in the Wowowee show are beastly

Hello!

Ah, ok. Thanks for the tip!

The first time I played SFIV, I think I got surprised when I pushed down on the stick on the character select screen edge and it highlighted Akuma :))

I’ll be at G4 tomorrow ^^

def look around srk thread aswell, learn match-ups and basics. http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=188461 pumunta ka dito, this’ll get u strted if u have any questions.

i havent been back dwn there forever, is there a popular arcade now in manila?

how many arcades have sf4 these days?

In the Philippines? I think it’s only Glorietta 4 thus far? I have a feeling SM North EDSA will get it eventually. There’

Current PC isn’t high end enough to run the PC ver  I guess I’ll be going to G4 today/tomorrow/Friday.

ive never heard of glorietta 4. it seems like north edsa is where the street fighter is at… i havent been there yet. ive only been to moa, megamall, trinoma, and a few other sm’s

mega/trinoma supposedly getting machines 2nd week of july…keep your fingers crossed…hopefully they deliver! expanding player base will do alot of good.

@ Supreme

It’s in the southern part of the Metro. From Mega, take the MRT (southbound) and get off at the Ayala station.

More cabs would be good, especially if they’re in the QC area.

Also, LOL@ me not finishing my earlier post before submitting

I was at g4 earlier today around 3pm. Got raped by a good Ryu, he left and gave it to another player there who still raped me. Used Akuma, Rufus, Ryu, Sagay and Akuma before I left. (I was wearing an FEU jacket)

I’m crap at footsies and zoning and easy to AAA. As usual, wakeup games (offensive and defensive, including crossups) own me.

Any little pointers? Its quite hard since I’m transitioning from MvC2 as compared to 3s or CvS2 which are more footsie oriented.

The only consolation I had was that I was able to buffer akuma’s ultra off c.mk as for an AAA. =)

I might be there on Saturday too, but I’m not really sure T_T

Yeah, it’s slower and more deliberate. Unlike MvC2 or KOF games, you’re not supposed to be jumping a lot.

The SFIV strat sub-forums are good actually good for case-to-case matchups. The people are friendly enough. It would good to know your character’s best pokes and best EX’s (for example, with Akuma he uses :hk: and EX air fireballs a lot).

I feel your pain, as a Chun-Li player it is pretty difficult/tiring to deal with good Ryus all the time. Perfect DP’s, and if he gets a trade or a high DP it’s a Super or Ultra for sure.

Good luck!

Yeah, I use those, along with low forward and low medium, demon flips whenever.

I play decent but not so good 3s, so I guess I’ve also been accustomed to people not wake-up DP’ing instantly. Not to mention here, DP’ing is sometimes safe with FADC, it kinda screws over my wakeup game.

Also, I have to get rid of this bad habit of trying to anticipate rather than react to throws. Kinda like when ryu does a ground string I block (low) then crosses up, I block the crossup then he does another ground string, sometimes I tend to mash throw at times thus open myself up because he could easily just do some hits then walk-up throw.

Hopefully, I could really transition to Akuma. I just use Ryu and Sagat just because they’re a bit easier to use for a beginner (IMO) basic combos, basic poking, good rewards, teaches execution well, when compared to akuma where you really need a lot of game knowledge and experience.

Kinda like MvC2 wherein I never played Strider/Doom for a long time, and only when I was somewhat established around here, my strider/doom actually became competent and viable for tourney play <3

I guess I have to shed more pesos in timezone load =P well worth it IMO

Yeah ganun na nga. No PC/console ver = you have to make Timezone rich
We’ll get better in time as long as we stick to it, if we really like the game that much.

I feel the game feels somewhat like SF2, but at the same time does have some of the feel of 3s in it, like the throws and some of the mixups.

It’s quite a change from 3s (even though I didn’t play it as much), since the FA’s quite different. If you’re really good at parrying it can spoil you sometimes.

Speaking of Marvel, I was never a good Magneto player, but I hope it’s not too late. Gonna finally go about learning him. Magkakaroon na rin sa current gen e.

The SM Makati machines aren’t too far from Glorietta after all.

SM makati is actually a pretty decent place… if there are players, one of the best in the metro plays there often on weekdays because he works nearby.

I think I’m semi-retired on marvel because of SFIV and placing 2nd in the last tourney. I think I’m quite happy with that already so I’d just focus on SFIV =)

Hopefully, my last year at college won’t be too stressful for me to be unable to go there at least once a week <3

We have casuals during Saturday, i t consists of several people crashing at a house playing SF IV all day on sticks, pad or whatever you want.

dang sounds fun to be havin an sf4 sesh in the PI. chillin with that red horse and that san miguel ya diggg

Okay, I’ll be at G4 tomorrow noon/afternoon. Then, I hope to attend the WWE event in the evening. lol
