Phase 3 Beta Feature/Gameplay Suggestions for Capcom Unity

I disagree. I recall Tokido playing in an online Topanga league awhile back and he was disconnected during one of his matches and that match was considered a loss because of it (which is fair).

In Counter Strike Global Offensive: if you leave a match (rage quit or disconnect), you are given a loss and a temp ban from the matchmaking queue. The temp ban time goes up with each disconnect (in a short period of time of course) and I’ve been locked out of matchmaking for an hour because I was disconnected from a few matches due to my shitty internet at the time. I was not mad, because those are the rules; which discourages rage quitting and it’s fair.

I think the same concept should be applied to SF5, especially if it’s in a ranked mode where people’s rank are on the line. You disconnect - you lose the match, end of story. I’d love a temp ban placed on using ranked mode again as well.

Since it happens to everyone, it won’t make a difference in the long run. Everyone will be getting those ISP disconnects occasionally, so it evens out, and everyone gets a better online experience because there’s zero tolerance for attempting to cheat the system.

You will only be punished more severely if you are disconnecting repeatedly. Perhaps that could actually be baked into the system (less LP loss for first disconnect), which would help reduce the impact on honest players (unless you live in an area where cars crash into your power lines on the regular, in which case tough luck.)

I have shit Internet (att Uverse) and I can count how many times on one hand my internet shit on me while playing a game online in the past 2 years, not that huge of a deal.

If you disconnect you should be punish. I see no issue here.

Since the online is the big thing, I want a lot of that on lock. I agree with many of the things brought up. I like the idea of an easy rematch button, one for messaging, and 2/3 option for ranked. Top notch spectator mode, several cabinets in a room for matches to take place simultaneously, ability to kick people with bad comnections, etc. I do like the idea of online training too.

For tutorials they should just copy BB and GG and it’ll be great. If they could take a great feature from all the fighters it would really prove this to be the culmination of all FGs.

Always being able to decipher legit connection dcs from salty people is tough. Killer Instinct tried to do it but it seems more trouble than its worth. In the end online play is not a major tournament event and as long as you have a stable enough connection, a few penalties here and there won’t kill you.

You don’t have to move out of the boondocks, but from what ive seen 100 percent correctly assessing a legit or salty drop is too much backend work.

I dunno if it applies to normals but specials have input window leniency that felt extra lenient to me in SF5

I think there should be a penalty for not pressing the action, similar to GG. It should make you take stun at like 1.25 the regular rate or something if you get the warning.

in 2015 enough companies have tackled quitters that capcom would be stupid to not learn from their mistakes. (and capcom is clearly paying attention to what they’re doing because sf5 smells so much of “we want this to be the league of legends of fighting games”)

no company sees the one odd incidental leave/quit and immediately throws the maximum penalty at you, often it takes two incidents just to get a warning. it will take some fine tuning at first but they will likely get it to the point where anyone who actually gets a punishment actually deserves it.

Two strikes and you’re penalised seems fair.

More points lost for you and more points gained for your opponent would be fair. It’s 2015 yall, get stable internet. XD

Sure I had that happen to me. I played Dota for over 10 years and every time I disconnected, I got punished for it, be it inhouse leagues in DotA or ranked matches in Dota 2, and not even once was I like: “Oh it’s not my fault I shouldn’t be punished.”,
Yeah it is my fault, I deserved it and I’m angry with my ISP/router/burning cat or whatever and not because I got punished for wasting someone’s time.

Holy fuck when I had shitty internet I’d play unranked games anyways so I don’t see the problem here.
I also don’t go play a basketball league match for my team with a broken foot, I go play horse with a couple of friends.

Go watch the USFIV EVO grand finals to find out how other people handle shit that is “out of your control”. Your hardware, your problem.

And your argument with the Xbox guy is complete bullshit.
We’re talking a online multiplayer game here.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t be able to play SFV if you do not have an internet connection, I’m saying you shouldn’t be able to play online multiplayer ranked matches if you do not have a stable internet connection.
Go to the fucking lab, invite friends over, or play in player lobbies for all I care, just keep out of ranked matches if you cannot compete due to your hardware limitations.

That guy said you shouldn’t be able to play offline games without having internet, I say you shouldn’t be able to play online games without having internet.

Ragequits are badges of honor and everyone should try to dominate so hard their opponent quits. IMO, instead of giving the quitter the loss, the person who got quit on should get a win instead.

  • shorter loading times (skippable as soon as everything loads, like in USF4 PC)
  • rematch button in 1v1 lobbies
  • concurrent matches in Endless lobbies
  • regional filters that would make sense (EU/NA/SA/SEA…)

Not to nitpick, but East Asia and Southeast Asia would need to be separated.

IE, connections to the Philippines and Indonesia are virtually unplayable for me (in USF4), whereas connections to Japan/HK/Taiwan and sometimes Singapore turn out fine. Also I’d personally add a regional filter for Mainland China because I’ve been on both sides of it, and have never had luck getting a good connection to anywhere outside China (China to HK works fine).

But with a lot of regions, it becomes a convoluted mess. I’d rather just be able to see the ping and kick. You could add pretty colors to show which ping numbers are best for people that are clueless about it.

Connections from the Philippines to anything in East and South East Asia are fine for me on anything with rollback code though.

If somebody ragequits more than once, an empty salt shaker appears on their in game name. Every time they rq from then on the shaker fills a little bit more. If it reaches max then every character they play has a floating salt shaker above it dropping salt like dandruff onto their character, and tears stream from their eyes.

All win quotes replaced with “I should have been the one to fill your dark soul with LIGHT”

GAME FIXED PAY ME NOW COMBOFIEND

We’ll have to try it out when the game is live.

I will read this later, but one of my biggest gripes in SFIV was custom settings in Ranked matches. Like why is this ranked match one round, 10 seconds long? REALLY? Ranked should be a set standard, not something you can change as you wish. Leave that shit for casuals.

Check each user’s online status. If somebody quits, see which of the players is still in game. The one that isn’t, gets the L.

Give people one warning, so if their internet is acting up, they don’t get penalized because their modem shits the bed.

Too many ragequits, start banning them from Ranked matches, they can go ragequit in casuals all they want. Make them earn the right to be in ranked again.

Gotta get your trolling fix for the day. Or you’re just obviously bad because you can’t win in 3 seconds. I mean everyone these days can easily win in 3 seconds. SOME EVEN TWO!!! IT’S MADNESS!!! THEY ARE GODS!!!

Or idiots…

I’d like Canada to be included with America for games. I’ve never had issues playing Americans, but I get tired of getting paired with Germans, the UK, South America, or Asia, because I don’t live in America, meanwhile all those other countries connections are pretty much unplayable (although I managed to play some Germans in SFV without much issue).
