Petition to recognize esports as legitimate sports in the U.S. to solve denial of entry

He doesn’t mean it.

Why would he?

TPB wouldn’t want to be even tangentially associated with anything even remotely related to Smash, that didn’t involve a Hannibal Lecter style contribution to the headline: “Party game community unable to wait for inevitable reproductive level extinction, commits self-genocide. Corpses left to rot in the hot Nevada sun, for days. Nobody notices.”

Glad you think so. Just make sure it gets done.

It’s not about associating myself with Smash. It’s about making sure I’m recognized as the source of inspiration. Too many sources of inspiration don’t get the credit they deserve, and I’m looking to change that.

I don’t think you’re gonna want the credit based on why you inspired me to work on this video.

Pussy, Mexicans before white people came did this to losers in war and sport

#allfightinggamesmatter

Is it a shitty video? Then just put me as the inspiration behind you making the video, and yourself as the inspiration behind why it’s shitty.

Mayans did it first. :coffee:

I’m pretty sure that cutting someone’s heart out is different from chucking them into a meat grinder via a loader truck.

I play Smash, and even I know that there’s a huge difference between it and actual fighting games. But I really don’t like Smash’s online competitive community, particularly the guys at Smashboards, r/smashbros, GameFAQs, and Youtube. Too much fascism over the belief that the way they play (hardcore competitive play, A.K.A. No Items, Fox only, Final Destination) makes them the best players in the game (even though the game has several modes that even they suck at, making those who play those modes with more efficiency better than them).

I gotta respect that you somehow found a way to take that and make it a put down. That’s some advanced hating.

Update: The petition did absolutely no change to the US standards of any agency as expected.

*"Thank you for using the We the People platform. On May 23, a petition you signed on eSports reached 100,000 signatures, which is the threshold for receiving a White House response.

The P-1 nonimmigrant visa classification allows individuals to come to the United States temporarily to perform at a specific athletic competition as an athlete, individually or as part of a group or team, at an internationally recognized level of performance. You raised questions about a specific Super Smash Bros. Melee player and his P-1 visa application. Consistent with the We the People Terms of Participation, we decline to address such matters that are properly within the jurisdiction of federal departments or agencies – in this case, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), a component of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

However, we do want to provide more information about the broader issue you raised.

According to USCIS, the agency responsible for processing P-1 visa applications, there is no current policy categorically precluding an eSport from being recognized as a qualifying athletic competition. In fact, USCIS has approved P-1 visa petitions for athletes seeking to enter the United States to compete in eSport events.

It’s important to remember that every case, regardless of what sport it involves, is different and is reviewed on its own merits. USCIS may request additional information when there is not enough documentation or evidence to establish eligibility for the requested classification. Given this case-by-case adjudication, a particular denial or approval does not necessarily represent a broader policy interpretation or change.

You can find more information on the P-1 visa process on the USCIS website. Individuals who have issues about particular cases can also contact the DHS Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman. The Ombudsman helps to provide impartial and independent perspectives in an attempt to address issues related to pending cases. Learn more about the Ombudsman.

Thanks again for using the We the People platform.

Of course they try to call eports players “athletes” to make them feel better but this is the same government that declared pizza as a vegetable even though most of the ingredients in the commonly known pizza in America aren’t even vegetables.

(Thanks for reminding me this thread wasn’t locked for some reason despite the original poster just being parasite who signed up solely to drag people into this idiocy with any interest in the FGC at all.)

And so, with that overwhelming obvious failure that anyone with sense could see was coming from the very beginning, this thread has officially forfeited what little use one could have pretended it actually had. Locking now.
