IIRC , Falco isnt a fast faller anymore.
-
D-throw chain grab works like a charm , I think its like up to 4 throws max or something.
-
reflector owns for EG
So is there a chain-grab table like for king Dedede so I can know who can/can’t be CG’d?
n-air can kinda “combo” into a throw
Oh I want to see this in action!
Just started maining falco last night, in less then a week I’ll be fucking yall up with cg and laser lock:rock:
Does he have any bad matchups?
Watching you play Sonichuman today has convinced me to try Falco.
Some things I noticed while you played against his Sonic:
-Sonic can escape Falco’s CG by using u+B. It seems you adapted quickly and started using reflector after d+throw instead.
-Sonic can run in and throw after blocking reflector at max range.
I didn’t see this stuff posted yet so fuck it.
Some stuff I came across when testing him out in training mode:
-His AAA combo sets up his CG at low percentages. Do the AAA combo so that you get the minimum amount of blade spins, dash in then grab.
-AAA combo seems to combo into reflector at low percents.
-I did a few things while playing around the edge. While on the edge, press down to release yourself from the edge and instantly press the jump button and do side+B. If you do it right then you will recover near the middle of the stage. You can also do reflector and laser in the same manner. With these two, you can recover from the animation fast enough to grab the edge again if you don’t DI on to the stage. If you do the reflector soon enough, it will connect more cleanly. With the laser, you can fire one off at a height that can’t be crouched under(maybe Kirby still can) and still have the time to naturally grab the edge. To do this, you can to wait a bit before pressing the jump button after pressing down. This way, the peak of your jump isn’t so high above the stage; you fire one laser and then grab the edge. Or you can try two lasers but you’ll have to do u+B to recover.
i was doing this a bunch to this peach named Sam today online
at 0%, AAA, grab, down throw, dash attack, utilt, uair
easiest 50% combo ever. and fthrow -> dair is like the easiest kill ever when they’re at the edge.
i was wondering about falco’s matchups also.
Chain throws absolutely rape some characters. Doesn’t work on a good number of people though. I can only get maybe two on ROB before her can fair me. What I’ve been doing instead is dthrow > fsmash at low percents. Not sure if it really combos, but it works on the ROB I play, and he seems to be pretty good at breaking out of my chain throws.
Not sure about Falco’s matchups, but I would say they depend a lot on whether he can chain throw the character. I haven’t done much with laser locking - it seems situational and difficult to plan for.
Also, his shine seems almost useless to me asides from reflecting projectiles. If you don’t hit at near max range, it seems as if your opponent will recover even faster than you do from the move. I really miss the jump cancellable one from melee but meh.
Falcos reflector is still good, I find that it actually causes a lot of people to trip. So yeah I like to throw out a shine or two, move in with dash + A and take if from there with either a Down + smash or some AAA combo jazz.
Shine is a really good poke, but that’s about all I’ve give to it. If he had Fox’s shine he would be too rape
Being a really good poke is good enough though, innit?
It is, the thing is the old one was better
And it’s not really good either, just alright
Man I was playing a Metaknight at a tournament today with Falco. My god. I just played keep away lazers and punished him with spotdodge to dsmash, dairs, and poked. He couldn’t get at me, felt good
Meh, the old one made him borken though, while this one is a useful keep-away move that can trip and is quite annoying to get around if used wisely.
Good to hear about the Meta though.
It’s ok, but if you do it anywhere but max range you’ll get punished for it. It trips but not often and your recovery from it won’t put you in any frame advantage. It’s ok, but nothing amazing, I think of it like Twelve’s s.HK from 3s material
SHDL when timed right is also amazing, high enough to hit Ganon while the second is low enough to get Kirby, essential skill
Just picking up Falco as a secondary to DK. Using him to cover DK’s weaker matches, namely DDD, Falco, Olimar. Any advice vs. those 3?
I’m liking his Nair, it’s a decent approach and sets up tilts well. Trying not to Shine so much seeing as it’s punishable. What’s Falco’s best approach?
Falco’s best approach is lazers (Nair can be punished pretty easily). You’ll either force them to shield, hit them, or they’ll air/spot dodge it, and you can get them pretty good after all of these. It’s the best way to set up low percent chain grabs which you can do to all three of those characters up into like 50% and then follow it with an usmash
Falco plays off the lazers stupid well, no lag, you can follow up with almost everything
Against Dedede you can lazer lock out of a fthrow at a really low percent, I forget what it is, Dedede can’t chaingrab you. Dedede can’t out projectile you so you can just let him approach. Stay out of his grab range and in the air, dairs and such
Olimar can out projectile you but you can gimp kill him really easy off of chaingrabs, bair’s, whatever you want
Falco is even, just be better at your lazer game
Kill moves are spotdodge to dsmash, usmash, fsmash, bair, uair, dair (spike). It takes a while for the guy to kill, just play a pressure and defensive lazer game
You’re really only giving his shine credit as a “good poke?”
You know it reflects stuff too right?
Obviously, but play a good T.Link and it won’t even matter, they’ll just keep the pressure on you hard and punish from the lag
It’s really not that good
I agree. If it hits anywhere besides max range, I think it’s punishable even on hit. The timing on reflecting things is pretty loose, though. It’ll pretty much reflect stuff throughout the entire move’s duration, which is nice.
Nope.:razzy:
Anyone who uses falco here get on irc so we can have some mirrors cuz it seems i’m the only one who uses him.
Falco is the hardest character to use online:sad:
