I wouldn’t call Labrys a keepaway character honestly. Have you considered Naoto?
Mitsuru and yukari were my favs in Ps3…need to play ps4
BUT LOOKING AT THE CAST
Shadow Labrys it will be
I get that, but when they have a Vita JRPG, a 26-episode anime series, a feature length film, and the resources to just make a straight up visual novel, it’s odd that someone asked them “Yo, we’ve got all these really great ideas for a story in this franchise that people can have a great time enjoying by themselves, which property should we drop it in?” And then they went with “A two player one on one fighting game. Except there won’t be two people playing. And there probably won’t be too much fighting. And it’s not really a game, it’s more like a visual novel.”
Not sayin’ it’s bad. Just, why.
that is why
This was fucking retarded.
Nope.
The question isn’t why they made a fighting game. The question is why they put a 30 hour story mode in a fighting game. “Cuz they wanted to make a fighting game” doesn’t answer shit.
you think?
they wanted to make a fighting game
they want to make it cannon with the rpgs
they put a story mode on it
if it makes sense or not to you it doesnt matter, they are doing it
believe it or not, there are people who like single player stuff and story mode on the fighting games, yes it baffles me too, but they exist, just look how scv got shunned because the lack of single player/story mode
MK9 story is a REHASH SUMMARY of mk 1-3 since they ran out of any good materials recenty besides killing off Lui Kang, the main protagonist (and then making him a zombie just cuz). The fact that it felt like recycled content turned me off. I personally thought it made Raiden look like a douche and a weakling since he literally was nagging half the cast to death (no pun intended) throughout the story. At least in this game I don’t have to grind a story mode to unlock stuff that matters.
Because they they made enough $$$ from that franchise (their are even more movies coming lol) that they can take such a risk. Because of the fact that alot of them are fighting game fans and they manage to develop an impressive size of a fan-base that they thought its better to pull out a fighter game now while they are doing so well (the PS Vita game P4 Golden was first Vita game to break 100k sold copies in Japan and was responsible for a noticeable jump in Vita purchases) then wait for an uncertain future. Why bother making a pure Visual novel when P3 and P4 (especially P4) is pretty much one mixed with rpg elements.
Note: the game actually is a canon sequel: 2 months after P4 true end and 2-3 years after P3 Fes. Perhaps they wanted to do this to make a story thats not as long as P3 and P4 in the fighter game genre (fans of the rpg can play it to find out what happened since P3 and P4 so thats why they invested a generous amount of story content in this game). Who knows maybe this mini VN story would lead up to a P5
It hasn’t been around for several years its been over a decade…

CT’s story mode was officially estimated at about 30 hours or so. I don’t find the number very impressive honestly. It’s not like BB story mode had any effort put into the backgrounds or sprites, so it was horrendously dialogue dependent even for a VN. If P4A has less stupid side routes it’d help but it still needs to be fundamentally better to not sort of suck.
The Move list videos for Aigis, Akihiko, and Mitsuru got released recently.
I know that, I’m sure “several years” can qualify as 10+ years. Yes over a decade would be more specific however, i already said that in a previous post somewhere. Guess i used “several years” just to be more general and make the point that Persona has been around for awhile…
Only difference is that Atlus has been doing the VN style story for awhile on their games and comparing it to BB Story(Arc) in terms of quality is a pretty safe bet that it will be fundamentally better. Interesting to note is that the BB developers were interested in making an RPG spin-off and Atlus offered to make one, but Arc turned them down since they want to make one on their own.
As long as the story mode isn’t neccesary to unlock any characters or something important such as that I don’t see why it would be a problem.
In one of the video interviews they said that all of the characters would be playable in versus/training/etc from the get-go. However you will have to play story mode to unlock new characters that you can use in story mode.
I don’t see what is wrong with this
Yup, so pretty much the collaboration of Atlus and Arc in trying to appease the fan base of the rpg/ fgc was nicely executed. NOT forcing them to play both aspects to enjoy the games full potential was a smart move. No one feels left out when they buy the game and can enjoy whatever they like either story or playing online versus etc. I see no issue with this, play whichever mode you like its that simple
wow dunno who to choose after see the list. Every body has some form of defensive command I like (that should speak for the balance of this game). But I still prefer shadow labrys since she has amour moves.
I’ve entertained the thought yes. I just don’t like the set ups, I’m a simple man~
And I know Labrys isn’t keepaway but I enjoy poke heavy / heavy hitting / slow characters too (Q / Haohmaru / Fiona).
Yeah chibi I was about to suggest this…the chars you will like the most for zoning will be Naoto and yukiko

I’m leaning more towards Yukiko, Naoto looks to use her zoning to set up an offensive front (MENOLIKEY).
I still want to try out Elizabeth too.
