I mean throw attempts don’t (tend to lead anywhere). A successful throw is great in BB.
@tataki
i seriously think that you are taking out of proportion your issues with the throws, not everything needs to be like GG, plus you are making it sound like the throws on BB are useless and that everyones is breaking them on reaction wich is not true at all
It’s not “like GG”. GG is took an aspect and implanted it well. Throws in BB are one of the parts of the game’s system that were done in a bad way. On how bad is it our views may vary but in the end of the day it’s still bad and they are repeating the same mistakes even in the new game. That’s the annoying part- You see it going downhill before your eyes and can’t do anything about it.
Well, I’m not that interested in the topic, but have a bit of perspective. So you say that throws cant be used as 50/50 mixup in BB due to easier breaks.
Putting aside whether such mixups are necessary or desirable in every fighting game, do you find that BB has an inadequate amount of 50/50 mixups from other sources? (basically the high-low game, I guess?)
Just because throws arent used for that purpose does not necessarily mean that part of the gameplay is missing or inadequate - it’s possible that the game has enough mixup gameplay from the existing tools.
Of course, “enough” is a matter of personal preference, although I’m sure everyone can argue why their preferred level is optimal gameplay wise…
I haven’t really seen anyone tech a throw in P4U yet. I don’t think it’s going to be as much of a problem as is being suggested.
We also haven’t seen high level play in P4U yet either. I’m interested in seeing how this ends up in the final build and if it’s an issue as of now.
I know people are trying to be super creative with throws in newer games and what not, but damn, nothing wrong with 3S throws if your just trying to keep it simple.
To be fair, the throw tech window in BBCT was way worse (much bigger window).
I love 0 frame throws, but damn were throws and tech throwing glitchy as fuck in GG. If both people hit forward HS at the exact same time, you don’t get a throw, rather, the HS normal would come out insteadt. Funny thing is, if someone tries to run up to you and punish, oh let’s say an uppercut, with a throw. If you were to mash forward HS while you’re recovery from your DP, and the opponent tries to throw you, the opponent will get his HS normal to come out, and not the throw.
And then there was FD the first few frames of throw teching to cancel the recovery to punish the opponent for teching, lol.
But then again, these are just random programming flaws.
Sure in future games they would have this kind of stuff cleaned up.
Huh, it was my understanding that they introduced that 1 frame “throw break” in GGAC to deal with that specific issue. I didn’t know about the other issue with mashing during recovery, but I have heard you can’t air throw after an airdash or something like that lol. It’d be nice if more games would at least resolve throw “trades” like AH does instead of have it solved arbitrarily.
Regardless, I very much dislike SF4 and BB quality throws and what they do to the game’s pacing/momentum. There’s a (blurry) line that shouldn’t be passed of course, but in general limiting options doesn’t help games, it just hurts them. Also, it’s one thing to defend a game you like from false criticism and misinformation, it’s another to recognize and admit it’s faults.
Sadly, the throw break system didn’t fix anything, rather, it created more problems in terms of technical issues.
And yeah, I remember when first playing BlazBlue, my friend and I were shocked that you could air throw after an air dash.
Likewise I don’t care much about this topic but I will say to this, no BB does not have an adequate amount of mix ups from other sources. The strongest mix up in BB is a high/low 50/50 and every character has a standing overhead so vs every character you’re up against more or less the same 50/50 mix up which makes it all the more predictable.
But on P4U, anyone figure if it has BB’s OTG system or not? I saw some OTG comboing but if it has BB’s retarded OTG rolls/techs and stuff then 80% my hype is lost for this game.
This guy is poster of the year.
took me a while becuz of stupid youtube but ive got the 3 other parts of the footage i got from TGS up now.

/rant apparently youtube likes to fail my uploads if they are in 1080p so FU
MvC2
GG, VSAV, Jojo to name other examples
… Seriously?
And while everyone was bickering, Siliconera put the ff. up.
Thats a lot of options pressing those combinations of two to three buttons
This is what I was thinking and some of them are a bit retarded (I think).
If the layout is
ABC
D
Then having combinations of AC, BD and BCD are a bit unergonomic. I guess if the layout is
AC
BD
Then it is better for all but the BCD one, but if they use
AB
CD…
Actually no, that is still the same combination of buttons to press. I’ll still wait before I bring down my mighty judgement, but the button combos do worry me a little.
LA!
Game looks good, hope it is Jojoey enough
Could be
BCD
A
Meaning AB are vertically arranged. BCD are in a straight line. BD isn’t much of a stretch either.
Where the hell is footage of that damn robot?
