Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena

Yukiko’s got the birds and feathers part covered.

Yup, that’s the pinnacle of fighting game play right there. No question.

Why did you even quote that? That was pages ago.
But I have to say, you’re retarded. Never did I say putting time into a game is a bad thing. You missed the point completely.

Glad to see videos are being released. I hope the company does not mind test footage going out to the public like this (like they are with some of there other games. Test stations are suspended if someone is caught with a camera, damn).

Overall, graphically and presentation-wise, it looks fuckin’ amazing.
Gameplay on the other hand, looks very unappealing. I hope it’s due to the fact that the game is THAT much different from team’s other work, it may take some getting used too. Hope the late footage starts making this game look good.

the gameplay looks pretty fucking awesome to me

I really don’t think you can judge gameplay until people can actually use persona.

I kind of hope that some type of full move list leaked, displaying what can and cannot be done in certain situations by now :x

As much as I love ASW they don’t test their shit when it isn’t a main franchise. Sengoku Basara X, Hokuto no Ken, and Jojo are all broken as fuck. I really like Persona 4 and I hope this isn’t the type of game where I get trapped in an endless combo.

There is better then Ginza from the original titles.

jojo is not made by ASW

This game is looking pretty not BB at the moment.

That’s a plus.

Uploading about a hour worth of gameplay. some good some bad. check it out http://www.youtube.com/user/gostunv

They are taking quite a while to upload and process so be patient. i gotta go hit up the TGS floor in a bit again. hopefully since its TGS day some GG & BB players come out to give this one a try. although the best thing about japan is that nobody is truly a scrub.

apparently theres a 3 hour wait for playing Persona lol. cant imagine how long it must be to try the vita or monster hunter… about to find out!

FYI some of my uploads keep failing. gonna have to fix em when i get back at the end of the day.

I have a question, what is the purpose of Rise popping up on each side of the screen?

From the speech bubbles next to her portrait, it seems like she is commentating?

It is. I play fighting games more for the learning/research aspect. I think people who just want to dive straight into the competitive side of the game and start winning matches without having spent any quality time in training mode ACTUALLY trying all characters out and learning researching their combos, strategies and setups are extremily lazy, even if they don’t play said character themselves.

I like BB quite a bit, probably more so than SF4, but you’re just being dumb with this comment. What, do you think you don’t have to learn the game for footises? If you actually think combos are the only thing you have to learn in a game when you ‘sit down and actually learn it’, and you don’t know the slightest about spacing, option selects, mixups, then you’re probably not actually playing fighting games at all. Which I guess is why you find them so boring.

EDIT: On topic, I haven’t played Persona, but this game looks fun, so I’ll give it a try nonetheless.

of COURSE you have to learn footsies, spacing and setups in any fighting game. That goes without saying, but complaining about a game’s system being too complex because it has long combos or lots of variables comes across as lazy. It just gives more reason to want to learn the game and to spend more time actually learning the game, which for me is a plus. Lots of people flock to games like Street Fighter because they are inherently simpler mechanics-wise but still very deep. I personally find that style of game boring, but the fact that arksys games have long combos and involved systems doesn’t necessarily have to be a negative if you actually have an interest in learning and find that kind of exercise pleasurable. It doesn’t make the game ‘bad’, it just shows that the player lacks attention span.

This is coming from someone who spent a very good portion of time experimenting with Karas crossups, optimal spacing variable combos and unblockables in TvC:UAS and documenting the lot, so I definately am interested in more than just combos.

But the combos aren’t really hard, they’re just long, so they don’t take much more time, if any, than learning tight Balrog links, except for Carl when you’ve obviously got to learn the spacing inside your combos etc., etc.

Even more reason not to complain about scary combos or overloaded systems. Half of the time it’s not even an issue.

He wasn’t complaining, he said new players would find them daunting even though they’re easy.
