Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena

ALL of Yukiko’s normals are extremely strong, it is extremely difficult to say that Yukiko is a weak character when it comes to her normals.

Yeah I assumed she’d have weak normals due to being a ranged character and the RPG’s mage, but I suppose zoning characters in fighters traditionally have strong normals.

I do not know if I’ve ever encountered a character that fits my mindset more than Yukiko, maybe Ash Crimson, so I really wish this game wasn’t going under. Oh well, it looks the type that will always have some following. I was honestly thinking a bump in interest/players with Gold’s release.

Pretty sure there isn’t, since you can do true unblockables with Shadow Labrys using qcb+C/D(low) and qcb+A/B(high). The mechanic you’re talking about has to do being in airblock stun while hit with an air unblockable attack…It also applies to left/right mixups.

I really dont think the game is going under. It just seems its at a point where the tech and play is at its high point, just waiting for the next big thing.

So in the example of the true mid/low unblockable of slabrys, if you set the computer to guard everything would even it not be able to block? Then I’d be able to test the move. That being said I am quite sure it is not unblockable just noobkilling.

Alright, yeah, I was talking out of my ass, I just managed it as Shadow Labrys, there’s no mechanics to prevent true high-low unblockables. Tested against CPU with Block Everything. It’s 1f for Shadow Labrys because Asterius’s 214C/D earthquake is 1f, but I managed to force a hit on CPU.
But really, either way, the high-low set-ups are INCREDIBLY difficult to block even an imperfect one, and it’s really not “noobkilling” considering ANYONE can get hit by this, it’s a really easy way to get one free hit.

For Yukiko, it is about the same. If you want to test just to see it work, corner a training dummy and just hold [1] and hit D and try to time sweep or 2A (any more 2A pushes you away, it’s annoying to reposition). You can keep doing this until you force a hit.

Okay, now that this game is confirmed for EVO, how about we all bring this section back to life.

Ah Yeah~

Bufu gonna be everywheres

I’d like to see this section live but SRK isn’t typically a big anime place and a lot fo the better players are contributing elsewhere. I’d like to see this place live, but meh.

True, Dustloop or MayonakaForums would naturally be the more active areas for Persona, but this thread on SRK was fairly active back before Console Release so it could start getting more traffic here again as Evo gets closer

So how about the whole, “anime players show up for your game or this is the last time we;ll give you a shot” ultimatum?

I hate to be a dick or actually agree with him on something, but he’s fucking right. The anime community is split so heavily, makes fun of itself, has representation problems, etc. If we want to be taken seriously, we need to step up and show that we mean business. We need more meaningful content, more presence at majors, shit, just to stop making fun of ourselves with #RIP for every new game that comes out. Just look at the MK community, they get a lot of shit, but they do so much and show up everywhere, and they earn their spot at all these tournaments.

Persona 4: Arena probably isn’t the favorite of a decent chunk of anime players, but it is a shot to show that we mean business in the competitive North American scene. Seriously, playing online and stream monstering isn’t supporting our scene, neither is bitching on social networks. Start getting your scene involved or make it out to something, or contribute in a meaningful way. Yes, we know not everyone can make it out blah blah blah, but other games with less overall players outperform us. There’s no excuse this time, we need our players to step it up.

 Word, I was so surprised to see it on the lineup, but I’m happy it was there.

When a buddy of mine asked me about it, the first thing I said was, “People need to roll through.” Skipping out on this is not an option for people who really want to see more airdashers at more events. P4U was the best chance to get airdashing more mainstream (I hate that term, LOL) and it was squandered pretty heavily by the community, I think. Regardless, and this isn’t meant to be a blowup or anything, I really feel that much of the chip on the community’s shoulder is frequently adjusted and even spitshined by the very players that complain. The community wearing its frustration on its sleeve like a badge of honor is really disheartening and part of the reason I don’t really go out of my to be a big contributor anymore even though I still travel to events.

Long story short, P4U isn’t an ideal game, but it’s still mostly fun and everyone who really loves these games MUST support it here. Even though an ultimatum is a pretty reckless way of doing things, hopefully people will take notice and start being positive about their game.

Hope P4U gets a good turnout so BBCP might actually have a strong shot at becoming part of the lineup next year. Really, really excited for that game and I hope that it brings nothing but good things to the anime community.

Holy shit, I was actually going to make a post similar to this, but you pretty much said what I was going to say and better. People counted KOFXIII out last year and they made it, people have been counting MK9 out two years IN A ROW, and they keep trudging and making it. If they can do it, we can sure as hell do it. I will say though, it’s kind of funny and appropriate that the day I decide to pick P4A up again and actually give it a fair shot, is the day it gets into EVO.

Agreed. ArcSys fans, do you wanna see BBCP and/or GGXXACP+R on EVO 2014? Support this game.

Persona actually gets good turnouts for majors (Most Recently NEC with 100+ entrants) So I can see the amount of entrants being around that since this is not just your typical weekly. If Atlus actually showing their support and throw in a free T-Shirt like KoF did then expect a huge spike of players due to Shirt Monsters as well

Guilty Gear would be sick, but I honestly don’t even know if BBCP will be out by then. If BBCP’s out in time, then you can bet your ass I’ll donate to it getting in. I’m just hoping we get a release date sooner rather than later.

‘Come support this game so it can be replaced by something else next year’ is what I got from that. Is everyone really just playing P4A in between other Arcsys games? I thought support for P4A would mean more P4A in the future.

I love P4A, but if Arcsys doesn’t do anything beyond what we’ve got now and continues to update BB and/or GG its chances of staying alive past this year aren’t good.
