What’s scrubby about doing something when you’re 99% sure the other player is bad enough to get hit by it? Run up gold burst IK is faster than actually playing out another round against a terrible player.** If you get hit with an IK** (excluding S.Labrys’s; which is comboable for 150 meter via a 1-2F link which must be visually confirmed), you are a terrible player and your opponent just called you out on it.
If you get beaten by spamming without awareness, you are also a terrible player. Dealing with people randomly doing unsafe stuff is one of the first things you need to learn in order to get better at any game. It’s the same as losing to a Ken who does [:dp:+:lp:]xN, or a Blanka who just pianos electricity.
That fades away when you get up to higher ranks, all the more so since you can rank people down by beating them (only to C though).
How does the opponent doing an IK out of desperation(as opposed to reaction or some kind of intricate setup that might have also been based on some previous conditioning in the match), mean that the opponent called you out on being a terrible player? All it means is the player gave up the match and just wanted to steal the win.
I don’t think anyone was talking about losing to it.
There is really no defense for the existence of IKs, whether it’s in GG, BB or P4U. It brings nothing of value to the gameplay, just allows players(especially lower level ones) to possibly steal matches they didn’t deserve. The issue isn’t whether IKs are even good or not, it’s more of the bad mentality a player obviously has from trying to use them as opposed to just learning how to play.
They can’t IK you unless you already lost a round, which (if they’re as bad as you want to claim) should never happen.
Most people don’t complain about something being “cheap” unless they can’t figure out how to beat it (e.g. are losing to it). If you’re complaining about players generally being scrubby… well, I’d love to see this game’s community level up at least as much as you would. It’s week 1 still, though.
I’m about ready to throw this thing against the wall.
Besides losing several times, I just lost a match to a Yukiko that would spam fans and do that persona over head thing against my Akihiko. Until Arc can give Akihiko an actual viable way of getting in from across the screen, that feels almost completely broken. Yes I did try the ‘roll’ (I wanna call it that since KoF does it) thing everyone has and it wouldn’t activate invulnerability quick enough.
And yeah, if you get hit by an IK, it’s on you. The only time as of now an IK is really viable is A) Shadow Labrys actually comboing into it which is damn hard or B) Elizabeth vs. Yukiko. Yukiko pretty much isn’t allowed to do her usual oki setup on Elizabeth when she has IK ready.
you have a rush attack, a roll, run, walk, air dash, super jump, double jump, a dive attack, a frigging parry, a full screen super and most importantly you can block…
Akihiko has a bad matchup against half or more of the cast. Zoners are bad, Mitsuru has safe long range normals, Chie has much better high low mixup, Yosuke can get around screen better, and kanji has invulnerable throws with large windows.
because it’s in the nature of a melee focused character to get in melee range. use the tools you have to get in (there are plenty), but they require patience to use, which you seem not to have, since you want a herpaderpalicous fullscreen close in move to make sure that you have a easy time against all characters in the game, hence I think you’ve no patience and therefore don’t block but simply try to rush into them with all your [S]buttons[/S] might and getting punished on the way.
It does feel weird having no green block. I keep wanting to do guard cancel rolls as well. Is instant block just stupid good like the first couple BBs?
So what is the safe way to move when electrocuted by Elizabeth anyways?
So anyone wanna explain to me WTF is up with AOA? It seems like they randomly gain armor properties and I have no fucking clue why. I do an AOA in a block-string and I get hit out of it because they are mashing jab. I do it on thier wake-up and sometimes it will eat whatever they throw out and keep going. I’m at a loss here.
instant block only takes off 2 frames and imo pressure is generally not strong enough for you to need to do it
Instant kills in this game are hilariously fucking slow, in addition to how you need 100 meter and match point. If you got hit, it is your fault, straight up. If you got hit by most of them, that doesnt mean you got “stolen” from, that means you made a big mistake in the face of their 100 meter option. Getting hit by most instant kills is like getting hit by a 60 frame startup wakeup ultra. Also, BB instant kills need you to have the opponent at 35% health or less AND 100 meter AND burst AND match point. Some were easy to combo into, some were more gimmicky but sometimes ok for a weird option or mixup or whatever, but acting like they are indefensible and “steal” matches just shows you dont know shit. I dunno what the fuck you’re talking about with mentality, whether or not scrubs do dumb things and dont learn has nothing to do with mechanics like that.
They’re largely slow overheads with armor once the white flash starts. It is nice how they can beat jabbing/dragonpunching sometimes but they’re very reactable. You just have to time shit and it depends on your chara, some are low/throw invuln from early on, etc.
Some instant kills can actually punish certain character’s moves, like Yosuke’s kunai toss. Still when playing it’s best to slightly adapt your style against IK, though at a high level I doubt they’ll be used at all. Though I did see a Japanese Yosuke at a tourney take down an Akihiko with his IK.
