the mechanic has not been on HNK, SBX, BF, so no, is not present on all of their games

Sorry i fail to see anything outside of the “random factor” principle in fighter games being something to get angry about, because everything else happens because a player decides to do a certain action and they have to accept both the rewards and consequences of that said action. Honestly the “decrease defense penalty” until you decided to stop air dashing back all day and doing no damage what so ever is hardly a penalty that affects your gameplay style choice(especially since the point of keep-away style is to **avoid **getting hit in the first place ) so guess what… you **CAN **just air dash back for the whole 99 seconds if you so wished. Its not like your speed or jumping got decreased or anything.

It’s an utterly useless, archaic mechanic that should have been done away years ago, I never understood it’s implementation from the start and NO game should punish you for how you play. That’s the job of my opponent, not the game.
The mechanic explicitly punishes you for doing it though. I can’t even count how many times I lost meter to negative penalty in BB because sometimes you just gotta backdash 3-4 times in a row to create some breathing ground. You can do that, but the game backhands you tells you you’re doing it wrong for playing the game how you like.
Being lame and playing keepaway is a completely valid playstyle, making them come to you to dictate the pace of the match is smart and often the right play in a lot of matchups. That the game will explicitly punish you for creating space is a dumb mechanic and for the most part only celebrated by scrubs who think playing defensively is ‘cheap’ or boring because it’s not as flashy as lockdown strings or cool combos.

lol, i guess that you mean GG because on BB it doesnt take matter away, and you need to (not) do more than 3-4 back dashes to get the negative penalty, not to mention that you get first the negative warning
and LMAO at the scrubs comment, the mechanic doesnt prevent the run away, if you truly belive it then you dont know how to play the games, because at the high level play (hell not even at mid level) the negative penalty doesnt affect the run away, turtling and playing lame
Well it’s like saying you can’t do ‘x’ in our game because we want you to do ‘y’ instead. You can do stuff that looks like ‘x’ but you just can’t do ‘x’. Sure that’s way too black and white as a scenario but when you start doing / do ‘x’ the game punishes you. Every game they’ve made (that matters) has had the mechanic and it’s proven to be so useless that I have to question why it’s still in there and how badly they must hate a certain type of play that almost never comes up in play. I mean think about it, they have to hate that manner of play so badly that a decade later the fucking mechanic is still there just in case someone wanted to play that way.
I’m sorry, but is this dragging on about the this games’ rare specific game mechanic “penalty” which is a “temporary defense decrease” which should not affect at all on how your keep away gameplay functions or is this turning into a discussion about the ethics of gameplay style penalties as a whole?

If I want to back dash the entire god damn time I’m playing, no matter how shitty of a game plan that is there is no way I’m going to accept a fighting game punishing me for it.
