Kansai isn’t “country” considering it’s native to the 3rd largest city in Japan. Localizing it as a New York accent is a bit of a bad cliche. Well, Kansai-ben is a bit of a bad cliche already. (everyone who speaks it in anime and games loves terrible Japanese stand up comedy and has an okonomiyaki shop in their family, no exceptions)
I bought GG2 because I liked the concept of the game system. It could play better though. Wasn’t as gimmicky as Max Anarchy anyways…
Well would have preferred the New York over the over-played Southern accent so to each their own.
If there was a fighting game character with an authentic southern accent, I would have a new main.

The biggest people who overplay Southern accents are often southerners themselves, so whatcha gonna do.

Its been confirmed for some time that this is an actual canon sequel(not just a fantasy fighter spinoff otherwise we would have Minato,Shinji,Ryotaro Dojima,Nanako Dojima,Adachi, etc as random fighters) to P4 (2 months after true end) and P3Fes(2-3 years later) RPG games.
