“If some Valentine players don’t use one of the three syringe types, what’s the point of them all being there?”
More to the point, what do you mean by this?
Some status effects are head and shoulders more nasty to deal with than others (Silence is particularly awful for most characters), and it’s not like they’re random. Certain moves always inflict certain status effects, and EX specials may inflict different ones. All they basically do is cause certain specials to have lingering effects. With the exception of Rage, they all cancel when the afflicted character hits their opponent anyways.
I forget that this game has source material (I do, I never played the games) so I suppose that’s just how it has to be.
I know I know, in the end I just think it forces people to play a certain way, but this game is still new so we’ll see.
Choice. What if I want my keep away character to use an RPG effect the rushdown character gets? What if I want the rushdown character to get the keep away character’s status effect?
You mention Valentine’s three syringes but you are entirely free to choose which one you want to use. I have three friends who use Valentine and all three of them use a different syringe when playing.
Well they kinda feel tacked on and I’d still rather have a choice of what effect to use but I get it, I get it. I’m just throwing my opinion out there~
…
well, of course
that is the way that all the characters and games are designed, you play the character based on how the character is designed and what does the game allows you to do with him/her, its like complaining that i cant zone with zanguief
because every status effect is tied to a character, or in this case, a persona/persona type.
since p4 wants to stay true to the source material, every character is tied to a single persona and in the last 2 games everyone besides the mc is tied to a single persona.
in theory yu could choose more personas, but i think that they tied him only to izanagi for the sake of consistence.
also this game draws inspiration from the capcom Jojo games, and you cant change the stand there neither.
no really, but i would have loved if they went the chaos breaker route with items that add specials and/or supers
Aquaplus luckily used “Online tweaking” as an alibi to extend the release date for about the month. This is good both of those games, they need to stay away from each other and avoid direct competetion from having the same release date to get better sales through monopolizing these anime fighter games being released in the Japan Sector during their respective month release dates. Better for the health for both these games (P4U would have won if they competed obviously, but they would have not as high sales due to competing directly with another anime fighter that plays differently then p4u and has different appeals/tastes to other potential consumers)
Here is a point of reference of where P4u and Waterpizza stands in Japanese arcade fighters top 10 profit rankings
P4U is #1 (not surprising it has an established following and plays really solid as an anime fighter)
WaterPizza is #6 (Obviously p4u is better if they were to compete, however in Japan WaterPizza is popular/has enough following to affect p4u sales to an extent )
Glad they are staying away from each other so these games can deliver their max potential in their sectors
Oh yeah.
For some reason I thought P4U was late August.
Damn… and I just per-ordered the game too. Boy, would I have felt stupid walking into Gamestop a month later to pick up my game.
May i ask what kind of footage you watched? If it was EVO footage, i could understand why you would feel that way (no offense to people that played at EVO, even though you should be, lucky bastards).
TheMidnightArena on youtube has high level japanese matches if you haven’t seen it from there yet.
