I finally got to use my new stick that I put together at a friends house today and noticed that the usb cable and neutrik adapter got super hot , as well as the pcb after further inspection. I will upload pics later tonight but I was wondering if anyone knows what might be the problem. It is a MadCatz SE Xbox 360 PCB connected to a neutrik USB adapter via a cable soldered directly to the board.
the cable should not heat up… it sounds like there is possibly a short/arc on the PCB or the wire itself… its not dead yet but my guess is it will soon. I wouldnt use it until you really inspect your solder and the board… maybe a drop of solder or thin wire is arcing it or the USB cable is bad.
Have you tried a different cable?
Don’t wire gound to vcc and vcc to ground.
would the stick still work? never tried it myself lol
@gummo, I’m pretty sure I didn’t mix those 2 up but then again this isn’t a common problem so it’s possible I just goofed that bad
opened up my stick when i got home and checked out the all the connections and there seemed to be a tiny sliver of shielding that remained exposed, took care of it with some heat shrink and now Im currently playing to see if the heating starts again
