PC version of MvC3 what do you think about it?

For ever 1 person that does this there will be 200 who will pirate it. Just like SSF4, this is a straight up no.

^^ Yeah but that was Capcoms/MS’s own fault for letting people use any GFWL key to play the game. They fixed that in LP2.
Its like pirating StarCraft 2, you can play the campaign but what then? Enjoy playing against the AI…
They are going way overboard with this, pirating a multiplayer centric game…how long do you think these pirates are actually going to play it? Its not like SF4 has some amazing arcade mode either.

LOL Do you really think any type of encryption would stop the pirates? Doesnt matter if GFWL is weak or whatever else they decide to use. Aliens can come from the future with some encryption techonolgy and it still will be hacked. When theres a will theres a way, it will be hacked to death and pirated. Think outside the box for once.

You’re telling me that these pirates have found workarounds to play online?
yeah…no…
Ok maybe if the system uses GFWL, but i don’t know much about it anyway and its vulnerabilities, but its not as easy as you think to fake a legit CD-key or cracked version of the game to play online.

Remember when MW2 first came out on PC? There was a cracked version of the game that let pirates play online with LEGIT players, but that got patched in like a day. Currently theres no real way for pirates to play online unless its on hacked servers so they can play amongst themselves. Otherwise you would see all of SC2 and any other multiplayer centric PC game overrun by pirates in multiplayer, which is clearly not the case.

other than the shitty older GFWL system that didnt use SSA please tell me what these so called hacks are that let you bypass GFWL and play online? Then I will shut up. Thanks.

On a side note, as someone on Unity pointed out, MvC3 was already running on PCs when Capcom released the high res screens. You can find 1080p screens of the game with AntiAliasing enabled and its obvious that it is on a PC seeing as neither of the consoles can run that game at 1080p with AA. Most likely due to the fact that the game was developed on the MT framework.
Some examples: http://www.playstationwallpapers.com/media/full/ps3/marvel-vs-capcom-3-fate-of-two-worlds/marvel-vs-capcom-3-fate-of-two-worlds_73661_marvelvscapcom3-1.jpg

I’d totally buy it but it’s not coming out, gotta accept the fact.

C2Q the 2 million pirates that downloaded SF4 didnt care for online.

The piracy argument no longer holds up since the PS3 was hacked.

Then i dont give a fuck that it was pirated 2 million times, a pirated version is only good for training mode and nothing more. Possibly a really small % of these 2 million pirates MIGHT have used the game to play offline against their buddies (and also the reason LAN was discontinued in SC2), but that exists on consoles too, so that’s pretty much void.

Well thats your opinion. Not Capcom’s.

Truth is truth.

Can’t argue there because I’m a paying customer for the PC version of Sf4, and will still be a paying customer should they release mvc and ssf4, if not i will stop supporting their releases in the future knowing that there is a higher chance of not receiving a sequel for whatever it is they release. Either way, there is a demand for the game and chances are they will make a profit off it anyway piracy or not.

For GFWL, you ABSOLUTELY can play pirated games online. I’m not gonna post it here for obvious reasons, but look around online if you really want to know. THAT is the main reason they should dump it.

Yeah but that was with any other GFWL key right? Unless there are more exploits than just that, then yeah they should dump it.

That problem was addressed though, with SSA keys being used like they did in LP2

Svensson said some time ago that capcom releasing games for pc or not has nothing to do with piracy so stop trolling… he even said that what piracy shows is that there is tons of ppl interessed in your product…

know whats funny? top pirated games becomes best sellers… tons of ppl download the game , recommend it to friends and ppl buy it worldwide…
if piracy was really bad like you trolls says then minecraft wouldnt sell more than 1 copy and tons of steam games that dont have any kind of protection or online play wouldnt sell shit

well projectjustice did say a couple of posts above that for every person that buys the game, there are 200 pirated copies lol.
SO in other words, higher piracy = higher sales.

Just think for a second.
Think about how many of those people, wouldn’t have bothered with the game if they had to dish out money for it.

Take this into account: Borderlands, for whatever reason (Mishap, choice, etc.) could be played online very easily, with a pirated copy using a No-CD crack, and a 100% free Gamespy account with no proof of ownership required.
On Steam, it was beaten only by Left4Dead2 Preorders, and Dragon Age (Another game that loses nothing when you pirate it)
On Direct2Drive, it was beaten only by Dragon age.

A couple of other things to think about:
There is no way to tell how many people actually pirated a game, you can see a list of downloads on some torrent trackers, but they don’t tell you:
How much that file spread locally after torrent download
An actual definitive number of the amount of people who downloaded that torrent (A lot of trackers don’t list that information)
The amount of people who downloaded from FileSharing sites, or Usenet.
How many of the people that pirated the game, bought the game afterward, because they just wanted to try it and think the Developer deserves money for it (I’ve done this with Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2, Amnesia, Crysis, Monster Hunter Freedom UNITE etc.)

When a Developer shouts piracy, they’re not shouting “IT WAS PIRACY” They’re shouting "IT WAS PROBABLY PIRACY AND NOT BECAUSE IT SUCKS"
All they can see is how many copies of the game they’ve shipped out, and how much money they’ve gotten from Steam.

In fact, most companies that shout piracy are the one’s making relatively rubbish games (Or are in a similar case as Capcom, release piles of junk like Dark Void on PC and keep all the good stuff away for whatever dumb reason) or are packing their games so full of DRM that a pirated copy is better for the consumer.
Look at good games, like Dragon Age, do you really think they would still be making Dragon Age II superior on PC (Just as DA: O was) if Piracy was stopping their game from selling well? Do you think EA Games of all companies would put up with that?

One more thing to add:
Gross Profit, minus budget, equals net profit.
Porting a pre-existing game, like Marvel 3, to PC and releasing it, costs much much MUCH less money than developing the game from scratch for 2 very different systems, even if piracy didn’t exist they would no doubt make less money on a PC release, because the genre isn’t as popular on PC, but it doesn’t cost anywhere near as much money to release it on PC.
And this is assuming the engine isn’t already running in windows.
Capcom releasing Dark Void on PC, and keeping SSFIV and MvC3 console exclusive, is a downright DICK move, and makes no sense, they’re throwing away money on garbage games to be released on PC and keep the costs low and DLC nickel-and-diming high for awesome games like MvC and SF.

Someone needs to be fired for these downright idiotic decisions.

And I don’t even NEED a PC release, I could pop out right now and get it for my 360 and get a few months of Xbox LIVE, but I don’t want to, aside from having a recent opinion that the 360 is satan for the videogame industry and I don’t want to put up with it anymore, I don’t think Capcom even deserves my money at this point, they’re using time and money to keep content on the disc hidden away just to force people to pay money for it later, rather than just putting out a PC port.

Update: Just read Ono’s Tweet, if my understanding of Engrish doesn’t fail me, I believe SSFIV AE was just confirmed for PC.
Now once an update like that doesn’t make me cream my pants every time we’ll be making some significant progress.
Exclusives are a thing of the past, we need to forget about them.
I hope one day, Videogames will be able to have the same copy run on many different machines by many different companies, it’s really the best way to escape control, MS has a grip on Xbox now, they tried to get a grip on PC gamers and they got what they deserved, it’s time to make the Portal 2 cross platform online and buy-ps3-copy-get-pc-copy common place, KEEP GAMING DECENTRALISED.

Wow.
That post was way too long.
Apologies.

Let me know when SSF4, SSF4 AE and MvC3 gets announced for PC.

SSFIV AE was hinted at by Ono a few days ago.
Not as being “considered” but to have been finished and already up and running in China.

To be honest I think it ties in with Arcade releases, if there’s an Arcade release, then they already have the game running on PC hardware with a Windows frontend, SSFIV didn’t have that, now it does with AE.

Chances of an MvC3 port are slim, however, which sucks balls, the hacking situation has me scared to even touch a PS3 for fear of losing my Credit Card number or being banned by someone who I beat online who happens to have the exploit that allegedly allows them to ban other players.
And I’ve disliked the 360’s business model for years now, I shouldn’t have to pay for online and have Halo 2 be shut down anyway.

But, you know, you entirely missed his point, Svensson said the lack of ports aren’t due to Piracy.
Which I firmly believe is due to the fact that the Genre’s never been a regular contender on PC, so anyone who’s been a PC player since childhood has no exposure.
You need to stop being such a blind sheep and realize: PIRACY ISN’T AS MUCH OF A PROBLEM AS YOU THINK IT IS.

Don’t worry I’ll message you in a couple of months.

and @ above. MvC3 actually has a higher chance than you think. Seeing as all MT framework developed games have made it to PC (and also considering that MvC3 is already running on PCs!), and to top it off, Marvel being involved. Its bound to be a higher seller than SF4 mainly due to the Marvel name AND that Marvel often releases their games on PC that turn out to be great sellers on Steam.

And on a side note. I don’t know why the console base cares so much about whether the game comes out for PC or not. I see this dude trolling in every PC thread there is. Why not also hit up Rockstar’s forums and troll in their Red Dead Redemption for PC thread too? God damn.

If they made a PC version I would both love and hate Capcom. On one hand, I would get my brand new fighting game on my platform of choice! On the other hand I’d have to buy it again. Damnit Capcom, if you’re worried about piracy, let me break this down for you:

SFIV purchases I’ve made: PC, PS3, and yet another PC copy when it was on sale on Steam for $5.

SSFIV purchases: PS3 and Xbox 360.

MvC3 purchases: Xbox 360.

As you can see from my purchase history, I alone make up for sales lost to piracy :bgrin:

I’m pretty sure that, out of the users of this forum, at least %90 of us would buy it simply because we love the game, and it’s on the platform we wanted it to be on in the beginning. While we get that you don’t want it to be considered a “free game” anywhere in the world, there exists an army of us with wallets ready who are just waiting to see the headline “Super Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs Capcom 3 PC versions confirmed”.

This is what I believe in regards to SSF4 PC:

Now it was already known shortly after the release of SSF4 on the consoles, that SSF4 AE was going to be created. In that sense, what sense would it make for Capcom to spend the money and resources they would need to create SSF4 for the PC, just to have a PC release at the same time as the consoles, when AE would be developed on a Windows front-end, with PC spec hardware?

They wouldn’t need to spend all that money on development of an AE patch specifically for the PC platform, because due to AE being (as far as I know), the final revision of SF4 for a while, it’s going to be developed on PC hardware, and the game will only need optimizations for varying hardware set-ups, and can then be released on PC. The consoles need it to be ported over, while the PC version would be the lead development platform of AE. This would allow the version of SF4 that matters now, AE, to be released on the PC and consoles within the same time frame. I believe Capcom essentially said “no PC version for now, because it will cost too much to develop when you will be developing AE shortly after, and it will use Windows and PC hardware, at which point, you can release AE to the PC, which will be the only version that matters to players anyways.”

I could be way off the mark, but that’s what makes sense to me. They held it back in order to save money, enable more of their team of developers to focus on 2 platforms, and release the final revision, and the only one that would matter, on the PC (because now a larger team has only one focus, and one platform), instead of spend time developing the base SSF4 for PC (spreading the devs out into smaller teams) and THEN developing an AE patch for that version. Now the only platforms that need AE ported over are the consoles, while the PC version is pretty much complete already. Obviously we’ll need to wait for an announcement, but I truly believe we’ll see AE on the PC. People will buy it, I certainly will. People will pirate it, but put the proper safe-guards in place, and keep them off-line, and I’m all smiles. In other words, don’t use GFWL. Something more akin to a private server that once you create an account, your key is locked to that account, and no duplicates of any key are allowed to be activated or used outside of that account would be ideal.
