PC Street Fighter 4 benchmark tool released

Oh jesus. I just learned the whole deal with dell and other laptop manufacturers not allowing ati to make new drivers directly. Hopefully the mobility modder thingy will help me.

(Windowed)
Score: 8235
Average: 39.35FPS
Rank: D

OS: Windows XP Home Edition
CPU: Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 2.80GHz
Memory: 1534MB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS
Display Setting: 1280x720 60Hz

Strangely enough, I ran it again with the same default settings for my computer and it gave me a C rank.

Not really bad for a 5-6 year old comp.

When I tried Fullscreen however, I laughed a little and then cut it off. I was basically watching Slo-Mo SF4.

I do give this benchmark credit though, it’s definitely one of the most impressive ones that I’ve seen and used.

That’s odd. Full screen typically runs better than windowed.

As for me, I upgraded to the latest catalyst drivers. Instead of crashing immediately when I try to change the settings to full screen, it thinks for a second then crashes.

what the hell?

So on 4:3 and 5:4 monitors there is no option to run the game in 16:9 with black bars on top and bottom?
Preserving characters’ proportions leaves the game cramped horizontally (feels weird, how is this even supposed to be playable?) and stretching them vertically to preserve the stage width is ugly.

Rank = A

AVG = 88.8 FPS ( Full Screen )

OS = XP Pro - SP3

CPU = Intel P4 3.0 Ghz ( 2 MB L2 Cache )

Memory = 2048 MB ( DDR 1 )

GFX = ATi x1950 Pro ( AGP ) 256 MB ( Omega Driver )

RES = 1280 x 720 @ 85hz

All Max Settings… with no V-Sync… no AA… and “low” Motion Blur.

Memory > CPU > Mobo ( FSB Ratio = 1:1 )

Not bad for an AGP system huh ?

See you all… on the dance floor !

looks like i’ll be giving the pc version a shot.

Everything on highest, V-sync OFF, cpu @ 3.4Ghz, gfx @ stock.

It actually had a slight flicker which was noticeable but this is sorted once V-sync is ON. If I can play this at the highest settings @ 1920x1200 I will be pleased! Looks so much better then what I am use to seeing on the PS3.

I don’t get it. How do you even turn off v-sync without the benchmark crashing? =p

Btw, this is what I’m getting in event viewer if it helps at all:

Faulting application StreetFighterIV_Benchmark.exe, version 1.0.0.1, time stamp 0x4a1a24a6, faulting module StreetFighterIV_Benchmark.exe, version 1.0.0.1, time stamp 0x4a1a24a6, exception code 0xc000000d, fault offset 0x001a8956, process id 0x1510, application start time 0x01c9ee52d7095d57

SCORE: 10133
AVERAGE: 90.93FPS
OS: Windows XP Professional
CPU: AMD Phenom™ II X4 920 Processor
Memory: 3328MB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+
Display Setting: 1920x1080 60Hz

all settings max, no AA

with 2xAA, it slows down to average of 52fps (slowed down drastically during ending scene, character intro’s, and ultra animations)

With V-sync OFF the frame rate is not capped, therefore the benchmark might run fast. For benchmarking purposes its worth applying the settings you want and leaving V-sync OFF to see what your PC is capable off. If it’s ON it will cap the frame rate but this doesn’t matter as long as you average I would say 55fps+

Sorry i can’t help with why your system crashes. Try installing the latest gfx card drivers? Put AA off and texture filter off and just mess around with the settings, something else in there might be causing your system to crash?

I also noticed even applying 2x AA performance takes quite a big hit. It might be worth trying all the different AA settings because some ppl are finding higher AA settings to not take such a big hit for some bizarre reason. I will definately try out all the different settings to see what runs best @ 1920x1200 and keeps the frame rate at 55-60 constantly.

I’m with you there. Looks simply stunning @ 1920x1200 on a 24". Plus my madcats SE fightstick also works on the PC so this is a definate purchase for me. Well done to capcom, normally PC ports aren’t coded so well but this seems to be a brilliant job.

Here’s the thing-- I can’t really mess around with settings. If I try to change antialiasing, full screen, V-synch, frame rate (fixed or variable), or aspect correction, the benchmark crashes almost immediately. The option for changing the resolution isn’t even available to me.

This is really odd.

edit: and yes, I have the latest video drivers.

Whats Good Jason?!?!?

Sup Rick! I hope you’re well.

Just tried something else. I turned off AA in the actual benchmark settings which was only set to 2XAA, but switched to 16XQ AA and 16X AF in the nvidia control panel (from desktop) and noticed it actually ran alot smoother!

All settings HIGHEST
16XQ AA
16X AF
V-sync ON

It ran v smooth with absolutely no slow downs during any ultras or the character part at the end.

I noticed it on my brother’s laptop too (Gateway P-7811FX). I tried copying the config.ini that stores the settings from my computer (runs fine) to his computer, but it just wouldn’t read it (it also never created one for him). Needless to say, it has something to do with the resolution and the config file, since everytime you change one of the settings and move to something else, it refreshes the settings on the spot (no res, crash).

Here’s a few tips to boost your frame rate a bit.
This applies to more than just street fighter…

tip 1 (obvious)
kill all tasks you dont need when running the game (duh)
an orgy of icons in your taskbar is not going to help you get a better frame rate and you’re not going to be using myspace messanger to throw fiery shoryukens will you?

tip 2 (a little less obvious)
set street fighters priorty to above normal/realtime in the task manager.
you can do this by:
hit ctrl+alt+del
select task manager(if needed)
click the “processes” tab
find the street fighter process
right click on it and select priority>above normal/high/realtime
select yes when it tells you “omg do you want to do this!?”

you might want to experiment as sometimes setting priority to realtime can cause issues (I’m thinking specifically with a stick if you use one for street fighter) but what do I know right? if thats the case, above normal/high should do the trick.

edit: If you find out this works for you you could make a .bat file that points to your game executable and automatically starts it in a high priority.

this is off the top of my head but you would basically create file called SF4.bat(whatever you want to name is fine) and open it in a text editor like notepad and use this code

START C:\DirectoryofStreetFighter\StreetFighter.exe /HIGH

there is probably an easier way to do this but again this is off the top of my head… so yea…

now this isn’t going to make your computer instantly run Street Fighter at a steady 60fps
what it will do is give a little more priorty to street fighter(and other pc games) it should give you a little boost in performance. hey every frame counts right?

Followed some of your guys suggestions about turing off options and i got it to a C and B with models looking ten times better. Had to turn the Res all the way down tho. But it seems to be smooth now on my Macbook Pro.

Worked great! SO psyched for this to come out.

SCORE: 9856
AVERAGE: 65.41FPS
OS: Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
CPU: Intel® Pentium® D CPU 3.00GHz
Memory: 2942MB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT
Display Setting: 1024x768 60Hz

Will the speeds be fixed if you dont wanna run v-sync? With v-sync off and getting like 200 frames, the game is insanely fast and would be unplayable. I would say 3x faster then the 360 version. It was like watching 2 people on meth fight lol.

Here’s mine:

That’s with
Model Qual: Low
Background: High
The rest of the settings are off except particles is on low.

Would you guys say upgrading to 2 gigs of ram will let me bump up some of the settings, or is this more of an outdated graphics card problem.
