PC: SSF4 AE KEYBOARD PLAYERS ALERT! (or keyboard players in general)

If there is conversation weirdness, it’s because I just merged both keyboard threads. There can be only one, but both contained useful info. So I just clumsily smooshed both together like a fucking fritos and peanut butter sandwich.

I was about to map my buttons, however it won’t recognize the actual stick movement (up,down, left, right). SIGH. I bought this usb board for my PS3 stick for that chipset and this is already shit.

Configuring 2 controller inputs for this game was a fucking nightmare.

  1. Keyboard inputs don’t register -> Download the workaround .ini-file
  2. Changing buttons within the game doesn’t work, game crashes
  3. Setup an additional keyboard input in the .ini-file
  4. Game doesn’t like my Swedish keyboard layout, google the american keyboard layout and remap buttons accordingly
  5. Download joy2key and map all keyboard buttons to those of the pads (a lot more tedious than it sounds)
  6. The buttons of the pads are different despite being the same brand -> reconfigure in joy2key

All in all, it took longer to proceed with these steps than to actually install the game. By far the worst controller configurations I have EVER seen.

I noticed this keyboard problem about a month ago. I was using arrow keys for movement and the numpad for attacks. I couldn’t crouch tech and only some keys would register. I recently switched the movement keys to W = DOWN, Q = LEFT, E = RIGHT and NUMPAD0 = JUMP for HitBox style. After switching to WQE, all the attack keys now register properly.

So if you have a similar problem just try remapping to different keys.

im having the same problem. i try to move but it wont register but the buttons do.

My microsoft x6 works great. If i assign punches and kicks to q,w,e,a,s,d,r,f I do not get any ghosting because the kb is ghosting free on the wsads. I can even do blanka hop by pressing 5 buttons on the kb.

That said I will make my own all button controller soon.

I had the same problem and got my stick recognised when I adjusted the bar beside the turbo button all the way down so it reaches ‘R’.

But when I got back to Vanilla, I had to adjust the bar again in order for Vanilla to recognise my stick.

and I thought the key config was a nightmare in vanilla
hard to believe this is so much worse
it doesn’t recognize my microsoft sidewinder x4
the hotfix works but I can’t do simple things like change resolution without it messing up
really hope capcom patches this

Getting this thing too. It seems like the game doesn’t recognise the PoV hat.

It’s bugged as hell but less dumb than SF4. This time the game ask me which button I want to use for lp, mp, hp, lk,… and not for X, Y, A, B, RT,…

If you’re using a stick made with a cthulhu pcb you can hold down the select button while plugin it in the usb port. Solved the issue for me.

whoa. this thread blew up and also changed direction. you guys want me to compile some of this info in the first post?

I figured it out.

On the stick itself there is a switch that has LS, DP, RS. By default you always have the switch on DP for ur consoles. I flipped the switch to LS and it works.

The thread blew up because some mod thought it was a bright idea to merge it for some reason.

For those of you whose stick reads only the buttons, if you have a madcatz put the stick on “left stick anolog” instead of digital then map your inputs to the game. My retail copy hasnt came in yet so I dont know if it works for it, but thats what worked for the other shadier version that is out.

Has anyone gotten xpadder to work for mapping a gamepad to keyboard? It works in Vanilla but doesn’t appear to be working in AE.

My Hori PS3 wireless stick actually works flawlessly on that Windows test thing. And I can even select the arcade stick in the button config settings and map things to the buttons! But it doesn’t recognize the actual stick at all. So I’m left being able to attack, but unable to move or block. Kind of a neat challenge, but… I’m so close to getting it perfect I can taste it.

There’s no switch on the stick anywhere like mario316 found, either. :frowning: Think there’s any hope for this stick?

Use x360ce to make your stick emulate a Xbox 360 controller. Use that until Capcom patches this issue.

Gave that a shot. I could map the stick directions to left stick directions in the x360ce interface thing, but it still acts the same once I’m in the game. Also even though I have the buttons mapped, they do nothing in the menus. I need to have an actual 360 pad plugged in just to get past the start screen.

The game recognizes my stick as an input device; I can scroll between it (Windows calls it WIRELESS FIGHT STICK 3) and the 360 pad, but if I try push a button on EITHER device while on the button config screen, the game crashes.

Microsoft Sidewinder x6

I had this problem when I used the default bindings and the old A,S,D for punches and Z,X,C for kicks. After a little of experimenting I have found that moving it to T,Y,U and G,H,J respectively eliminates the input ignoring.

I have a cthulhu pcb and held down the select button while plugin it in the usb port, thus solving the issue for me.
