Has anyone Tried Ryu/Nina?
I’m choosing between Kazuya or Sagat as Ryu’s anchor. I wonder which one is more of a threat to human opponents.
Kazuya is nice, although it’s difficult to use Mist Step with a keyboard during the heat of a battle.
They both are good characters to match up with Ryu. If you’re going for more of an offensive style then I would do Kaz. Defensive, definitely Sagat even though I’m also offensive with Sagat. This, I think, works better on an offline human opponent.
Thanks, I guess I’ll stick with Sagat since Kazuya lacks in the zoning and anti-air department.
At first i had Ryu with Lily cause i like the character, but i don’t know if its a combinaison overall.
I’m trying with Kazuya but Kaz need more practice !
Maybe with Hugo, good possibily to open with ryu and lauch the Hugo’s Super… hard to play against i think.
Question : Often i see team : Kazuya/Ryu, but why put Ryu in second ?
I saw PongKO played both so i don’t really know ^^
For me, putting Ryu second is my preference. You know the “saving the best for last” saying. Maybe it’s me but I have noticed Ryu is a little more hard hitting than Kazuya. I use Kaz like a battery to charge Ryu up unless I see an opening and do the super or the cross assault.
Yeah i see its right, i retried Ryu/Lili but now Lili/Ryu. I really like this team. Good build meter with dive kick long range, good pressing close range, and nice tag combo and back up with ryu. Quite a bit sure i will work this team again
e/ And obv Lili is so stylish imo.
I’ve faced Slayerslice. His team is Ryu/Kazuya. I have to say they’re quite the opposite in terms of point/anchor characters. For that team, Kazuya anchor is ideal, IF you have EWGF down, it’s KO if you play right and land one good combo with Ryu.
You might have a personal preference, mind. People think Lar’s isn’t a good anchor, because of his low damage output. But, I love him as an anchor, because he can control the screen so well.
I wonder if which one is better at point, Juri or Ryu? I usually start the match with Ryu on point as he’s a versatile character in terms of offense and defense, and I’m using him to gauge how skilled my opponent is. The fear I have in using Juri at point is due to her low HP, as I might end up eating a long combo without getting a chance to tag if I made a mistake during a match.
I always thought Juri had a safe way out with her Pinwheel into tag, even if you have that fear, you should know that she can escape relatively easy. I like point Ryu, but then again, I’m a Ryu fan. So, that might be my own personal bias.
Juri would certainly have better tag in combos in comparison, mind.
You are exactly correct; that is why I would choose ryu. The only down side to ryu is you can’t really zone. If you have a heavy hitter like blanka or king then I would try to fill the gaps they have; so whomever you use that is heavy is more of a heavy attacker and you can just pile it onto them and wall bounce and basically you are just killing them with them, not much zoning. So if you happen to run into a tougher character like hugo or kuma then you will probably have to zone them out and ryu would not be the best choice as kuma can easily dodge those handokens by laying down. So I would suggest more of a zoner. I personally run my offense in a certain way and I use Ryu/Blanka. I like to run people down. This team isn’t the greatest against projectile noobs, but I guess they have reasons for a legitamite “rage quit”. Personally, I look at if you have a ryu, have someone like dhalsim on your team.
Resurrection!
I’ve picked up this game again, and trying to find someone with Ryu. I used a mixture of Vega or Bison before. Haven’t bought the new characters, not sure if I’m really interested in them except Cody.
I’ve been using Sagat on point with Ryu anchoring. Sagat can zone out just about anyone with his high and low projectiles, and nast anti-air game. This leads to him building meter quickly, as he doesn’t need it to be effective. Sagat has lots of ways to get Ryu in, including his nasty anti-air game, and long range pokes which easily lead to boost combos. Ryu’s game opens up ALOT once he has meter, and can do just about anything and make it hurt. Sagat provides that meter and the way in.
