Paradise Arcade Shop, LED Joysticks, Buttons, Mods and more

To clarify this

The Kaimana processor and board needs power, this can come from connecting the USB or by connecting 5V to the VCC.

The LED string is not connected natively to the same power source as the chip because, there are some situations where you will need more power or a different voltage to run the LEDs. Because of this, the power for the LEDs was separated from the board power. However as shown in the drawing, you can jump from one of the two hubs (the hubs are identical and this is why there are two, to connect power to one) up to the VCC on the controller and steal power from what ever is powering the board to run the LEDs. Does that make sense?

It’s a little goofy but we had visions of people blowing boards by overpowering the processor while trying to deliver enough power to the LEDs.

Yes and we are working to fix this

Armi, I think you should add compatibility info for the LEDs, buttons and harness in the description of each item, this way everyone will know what type of LEDs, buttons and harness should be purchased.

We are working on a way of cross linking things back and forth. I actually may install a module that pops up, hey you just bought an adapter, do you need one of these LEDs.
However I am not a huge fan of advertising pop up windows. Having windows pop up to suggest other products is a great way to boost sales, but it’s like the candy and soda at check outs, and I am morally not a huge fan of captive audience impulse marketing. That being said, we do need to help people with selecting the right products with the LEDs.

We are working on some kits, and will keep evolving this as quickly as possible.

I will work on the descriptions a bit more.
For reference:

You will need an adapter board for each regular LED light used such as:
Pele Rings work with every button we sell, actually 30mm rings work with every 30mm or 1 1/8 american style button that anyone sells, the 24mm work with all the 24mm buttons
Uilas are also compatible with most Japanese style buttons, However sometimes the plunter needs to be trimmed in OBSC’s
Arc-Eye 2’s
Il-Lumination 2 LEDs are compatible with American Style buttons

You do not need an adapter for Kaimana series LEDs, which right now are just the
Kaimana J’s compatible with Japanese style fight buttons 24 and 30mm, the exception is that they do not fit on the PS-14-KN’s

Ok I have IL-Lumination 2 LED’s and I know I will need an adapter. but theres not info how to use the adapter with the IL2’s. The IL2’s dont have a place on the led for a harness cable. the only place I can see(on the board ) on the picture is where you may be able to solder at the top by the VCC, R, G, B spot.

The adapters are labelled RGB and power on the extra connector, you can either solder or install a connector to hook them up there. Wig I can send an extra IL lumination connected the right way to show you with your order, just shoot a note with the order.
I will make a video and go over all the parts today… lots of orders, and lots of questions, very very exciting and fun!

I just purchased using PayPal, seems like everything is fine now. I got an invoice both from the shop and PayPal. as well as email confirmation.

Yeah Bryan I will do that. So from the looks of it I would need the PCB board, 8 adapters, and 8 cables.

Crimping my own Uilas is really time consuming… But super rewarding! will post pics soon!

I would like to see your crimping skills deBoru

We will be adding the female headers so you can create your own headers for regular leds in about 2 weeks. for now you can just buy 1 regular 3 in cable and splice into them… Video coming soon!

I just male crimped the Uila’s pre-attached wires and slotted them to the housings in the same color order as the adapter headers. Now I don’t have to hot glue my peles to the tops of my KNs… I love the challenges this small case throws at me!

Also, this method has made my stick super modular! All of my KNs just have little headers hanging from them, no hassle to change the art.

Hey Bryan, I just wanted to ask a quick question about parts for the Sanwa JLW. I’m looking for a JLW mounting plate, but I didn’t see one listed in the Sanwa Parts section. Are mounting plates available to purchase separately or would I have to buy the whole joystick?

The are only available as a part of the stick. We do have someone we are dealing with who has about 70 made and we may be selling those separately but they will be close to 9 each.
We have been looking at doing a universal plate for a while… time to get some community support behind it and just do it huh?

Now THAT would be super cool to see! It would certainly alleviate a lot of headache with people restoring busted up joysticks who are missing or have a bent up mounting plate.

Thanks for the info about the JLW mounting plate situation though. I’ll keep an eye on your site if they ever come in.

Let me look into it, this is what we had originally proposed:

The JLW joystick replacement plate someone offered us is about 12 retail.

I would buy one of those.

Time to order springs… what would people want?
LS-40
LS-32
different JLF springs
LS-56
what’s the interest?

I’m waiting for the video of the inside of my stick to upload.

But here’s a pic of the crimps.

LS-40 - 3 lb, 3.5 lb, 4 lb
LS-32 - ^ LS-40 will be compatible with LS-32
LS-56 - 3 lb, 3.5 lb anything higher doesn’t feel good IMO
