Personally? I say delete it.
Oh yeeeeeaaah. Pandora. I activated it twice, by mistake. My fault for mashing. I deserved those losses.
Somehow I’ve been thinking people who are not me would eventually find a use for it. Not yet, I guess.
How about this?
- Using Pandora does not sacrifice a fighter, but it requires both a 25% HP and a full meter to activate (Pandora is activated due to extreme rage and desire to win)
- Player still could not tag out while in Pandora state
- Running out of Pandora time reverts the character to his normal state instead of losing the game
- Once Pandora mode ends, your meter gets unusable for the rest of the round due to the fighter’s exhaustion, may put in debuffs to further emphasize the exhaustion state
- Buffs remain the same, or increase if necessary
Doesn’t need changes IMO. We have the Pandora extender and extra damage when in Pandora state (+30% IIRC) gems. We just need more ways to combo into it. Wall- and groundbounce situations are the best ones, simply because they give you plenty of time to pull something off. Yet, the risk to do so is still… meh.
The last thing I want to see though is that Pandora turns into a look-alike X-factor or Ultra combo. But if they occur it’ll be pretty hype, as you rarely see them happen.

Idea: Upon pandora activation you gain 10 seconds on the clock aswell, thoughts?
Despite my previous posts of hatred for the idea behind the mechanic and my personal wish that it’s removed… I’ll add to this.
If they were to buff it, I actually go as far as to “kill” the round timer. It comes with its own win-or-die time limit anyway. Keep all of its other properties, but freeze the round clock, basically. I suppose the problem with this is, if that happens and they have the Pandora Extend gem on, that’s a lot of time for refill meter and damage boost.
You can’t do much after you activate it, there are only a few combos that allow you to go into Pandora partially. I’d like to see Pandora be some kind of “final tag” or something, it acts just like any other tag cancel except for the fact that it kills your partner and starts the timer. Even if it’s the same time if it started you closer to your opponent and could be put into more combos it would worth more.
Right now between the short time, no time freeze on cinematics, and just how big the levels are, you can upback and they will die before you reach the edge of the screen, haha.

Well, the problem with suspending the round clock when you activate Pandora like someone mentioned, would be no reason not to activate it if you’re about to lose from time over and could cause it’s over use to become annoying.
I don’t think Pandora is completely worthless, but it is definitely too situational for regular use. Pandora only really shines IMO if

your opponent is doing something unsafe with a lot of frames where your incoming character can catch them.

When I want to try and win with Pandora I use both 30% damage pandora activation gem and 20% damage super activation gem (tekkens only) for a bonus 50% damage when I go from my pandora combo right into super. I have some videos up where I decimate lifebars with this. particularly the first few clips on this video

what if pandora didnt have its own timer and could only be activated in the last ten seconds of the round
what if it had just been automatic for both sides, no characters die, and gems only determined what powerups you gained during this period, also nothing turns purple
the whole mechanic could have been designed around preventing timeouts

I think pandora should give you a nice damage boost like normally ryu’s super does 300,maybe with pandora it can do 500 or 450,also I do think your still should drain but not all of it leave like 1 pixel of health left I also feel it can be used for wiff punish like if ryu wiff a dp or you block it and he doesnt have meter you can get that free damage
200% boost on all gems? :eek:
Anyways I think pandora should stay the way it is. I honestly don’t like the Idea of relying on comeback mechanics to win matches, but I would like to see it something like a baroque from TvC where you can combo into it, but the only cost is your red (or in this case grey) life. Or maybe they could just make it like a single use burst that is similar to X-Factor burst but does not ground bounce the opponent rather just put them into a soft-knockdown and give a slight attack or even gem boost for a get off me situations. Then again just dreaming here…
