Pacific Rim Thread (2013)

^ That poster dear god that poster!

Japanese Dub!

Shuuichi IKEDA yes the VA for Char Aznable is doing the voice for one of the Striker Eureka pilots in the Japanese dub! Damn so that’s why they called it the fastest jaeger. If they have painted it red, I would have a nerdgasm.

Also in this is Tohru FURUYA the VA for Amuro Ray will do the voice for Charlie Day. Kinda disappointing…

I must have that Shinkawa poster.

When I buy the Bluray, you better goddamn believe I’m watching this with Japanese voiceover. Only way a movie like this should be seen.

herro I rike :coffee:

I’d love to see his take on the other four Jaegers featured in the film.

LOL at the Japan otaku-gasm over this movie. It’s supposedly on track to bomb in the US so hopefully it’s a big hit internationally.

Mad disrespect for the actual actors in the film.

My god.

It’s what I wanted.

It’s so 80’s/Early 90’s, in the best way. The lines and scenes that are so corny and over the top they’re fucking awesome.

Seriously, lines like

Spoiler

“this isn’t a shelter… IT’S A BUFFET LINE!”

That’s not a spoiler, but some people might want to experience everything said in the movie first-hand.

Two, two movies that prove that Hollywood is starting to understand how to make fucking amazing action and fight scenes with these new special effects(MoS, and this).

They handled the monsters well too, I hate how modern movies with cool antagonists sit them in the back or only have them doing one or two things before going away forever. These monsters felt powerful, it was never a curb stomp for either side.

The monster reveals were consistently epic and memorable.

I don’t see why people want to watch it with Japanese dubbing so badly. The coolest things about this movie are the facts that it’s a good Kaiju movie that isn’t made by the Japanese, and it’s very worldly, each country has authentic accents and speak in their respective languages often. It’s a cool idea to watch it dubbed, but it certaintly wouldn’t be the best way to watch it.

I will keep it short. Just got out . . . .

Now I saw it in IMAX 3D because the only other screen was the smallest one at the theater. 3D IMO is a waste of money for this movie. Too bad there is not just an IMAX screening as this would be perfect. It is very clear that this movie was post converted. However, the sound work will blow you away. The story was solid, Idris Elba did his thing, and it accomplished its objective. I was somewhat emotionally invested in the protagonist by the end of the movie. Didn’t look at the clock once, so it kept me entertained. Worth paying full price for. Let’s see how this gets compared to Grown Ups 2 now LOL

OAN - Why does the main riff sound like Iron Man could use it . . . .

It was incredible. Will watch it again.

Okay, I love this movie and will watch it multiple times this weekend. I’ve been a Giant Robo fan since the days of Voltron and Gigantor and this movie hit everything on the nail. Question though: Does anyone think these Jaeger’s were bigger than a standard Gundam?

I would say so

FORM BLAZING SWORD LOL

Awesome movie…first movie I saw in IMAX 3D.

I already pre-ordered the DVD/Bluray.

Movie was very enjoyable. Think I wanna see it again

Gundams are around 60 feet tall, give or take 10 feet, depending on the series. They’re closer to the size of giant suits like the Psyco Gundam (130+ feet), if not larger.

Make sure to get the proper novelization too.

This one has monsters too… but it’s “Jeje monsters”, or so they’re called in the Philippines.

Oh wow, you’ve never been to IMAX. First IMAX movie I saw was TDK which isn’t even full IMAX but it was enough for me to never want to watch a film on a standard sized cinema screen again. How was the whole experience? Might be worth moving this post to the movie thread lol.

The acting and story are terrible but this is one of the most entertaining movies I’ve seen in a long while. I need to see it again.
