Overclocking USB ports for Windows 7, is it possible?

You only have to pay for the latest version of Xpadder. Previous versions, like 5.3, are available free of charge.

Whoa, many thanks for both links.
I’ll get on it once I got time!

I’ll post results…

EDIT: Ok my results are:
Xpadder does not work on Win 7, but it works on Vista, 2003, ME, and XP.

The link to JoyToKey is asking for a Direct X6? WTF?

Have you tried disabling visual themes and desktop composition in the compatibility tab of your SF4 exe. Usually this helps eliminate lag differences between Win 7 and XP for me.

Heh, yeah the more I mess with this, the more it feels like a hardware issue towards my video card and what not.
I mess with the video card settings and set it to were it would play the game with just pure performance, forget quality. So it did just that, and the game worked almost perfect, but I felt the input lag being a lot less than usual. However, the game look nasty and have a lot of random screen tearing. So then, but the visual card settings back to default, and the lag is back.

So yeah… time to get me a better vidda card!!!

What your talking about here is called “polling rate” and goes from 125hz - 1000hz. At 125hz the object plugged in reports to the cpu every 8ms and at 1000hz, reports in every 1ms. The higher you go, the more CPU cycles you will take up and its noticeable. Id recommend 500hz but be carefull. “overclocking” the usb port is somewhat dangerous and can damage your USB controller. Maybe try and find a board that does it via hardware like a high end mouse does.

i really tend to believe, this is all due to a OS probleme i was playing on Win7 32 yesterday and had no lag.

reinstalled win7 and switched to 64bits and today i have terrible lag from my controller which is a full speed USB, the gamle just got unplayable, the timing to perform 1 frame punish or hit confirm one frame links is just down the drain, I even miss the reversal window sometimes and I am not even speaking of teching grabs or switching guard, it feels like 5 to 10 frames of lag.

Might be my old motherboard having trouble with HID and 64bits OS or the chipset driver, neverthelsss i does suck

As for overclocking the USb polling rate, I ve never been able to see any working tutorial for win 7,

It would make a diffrence 125Hz is 0-8ms of lag 500 Hz is 0-2ms of lag, the fact that the game polls the conroller’s inputs at 60Hz changes nothing to the fact that this is still 0-6ms better reaction time to visuals it is not much but it is far from negligeable it turns reaction time ranging from 0-28ms into a reaction time ranging 0-21ms.

That could well be the diffrence bettween you eating that 800 damage hanzanshu starter combo and blocking it.
