Well, just got back from another tournament. I think I took 11th place overall. Not too bad. I lost to a solid Ryu player who ended up taking second place, and… Sagat. The Sagat player took 5th place.
The Ryu player’s alt is Cammy, so he knew a lot of the tricks. The Cr. HP into Ultra made him go OMGWTF THAT’S HELLA SEXY! though. Good stuff. Overall I played him evenly, I did a random Arrow that got me srk fadc ultra’d in the final round of the final match.
The Sagat… I play against him pretty often, so he’s learning the matchup. Honestly, I think I played very well against him. I used my super and ultra to get through his fireballs, and overall I fought him evenly.
Here’s what worked for me against Sagat:

The only time you use meter is for Super. If you need to use it, do EX SA. Super is better IMO.

Turtle like crazy against the Tiger Knee block strings. When you hear “Tiger”, stand up and block. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a chance for a counter attack.

From roughly the same distance as ultra, you can HP Hooligan a low tiger shot. Great punish for low tiger shot IMO. I’m going to work on my reactions on this. If I see a high tiger shot, go for the regular arrow. Low Tiger shot, hooligan.

If the Sagat tends to DP on reaction, go for ex hooligan from 1/2-2/3 screen and mash grab. The Sagat I played had ultra, and went for the EX Tiger Uppercut. Mashing grab gives your hooligan a slightly different trajectory, so you can perform a little crossup here. I landed safely behind him, giving me a free ultra when he came down.

I did a lot of lk cannon strikes over fireballs, slowly inching my way forward. Then go for the Spiral Arrow/Hooligan option.

Don’t finish blockstrings. Once in a while, Sagat would mash Tiger Uppercut or try to tech the throw. Just to be safe, make sure the blockstrings are air tight. 1 too many crouching shorts can lead into an Ultra.

Don’t go for the option select grab against Sagat. If he goes for the throw, hold back and throw, if he goes for the tiger knee, you’re already standing.
So what do you guys think? Pretty good tactic against Sagat? I’m pretty happy with what I came up with. I’ll have to try it on ShadyK next time I play him haha
edit: Oh, one more thing against Sagat. If Sagat jumps in with that strong elbow move thing… It can trade with Cannon Spike if timed wrong. Unless you have 2 bars and ultra, jump up air throw is a better punish. I didn’t have as much luck against his jump in round house/Forward
every sagat plays differently, cant really give general tips imo
u can meet the fireball spammer, the light tk /uppercut abuser , the camper, the fireball +tk/kick when u jump and so on, and with any of them u must play differently cuz something that works with 1 wont work with other
camping AND patience works with all i guess though… LOT of patience

my limit is two bars then i rush down… and if i happen to save some more (accumulated from the previous round 
) i save it to go for CS FADC CS FADC Ultra…
more than not i end up with CS (blocked) FADC Throw against Sagat…
the sagat i played DOES NOT STAND UP! he tiger shoots and keeps holding down/back… he stuffed my hooligan attempt with c.lp…
am i doing it at the wrong distance???
and i find it hard to anticipate high tiger shots with SA (i was hit with TS before my SA comes out) …
the Sagat i played was a good abusive RUNAWAY SAGAT!! i won 13 to 12, close one!
Here’s what I did against the Sagat I played. I was… about 1/2 a screen away from him. I was holding down back, he fires a tigershot. When I realize it’s a tigershot (on his startup) I start rotating the stick forward. If it’s a high tigershot, I press Round House or Forward, depending on distance. If it’s a low tigershot, press fierce.
I haven’t tested this in training mode, I was experimenting in a tournament. I grabbed him every time.
Look at the Sagat vs Sagat matchup. When they do their tiger shot wars, someone goes hi, and someone goes low. The low shot player still gets hit by the high tigershot, even though he’s crouching, it’s timing for the low shooter to dodge the high tigershot.
For some reason, I don’t do a lot of dash cancels on Sagat. I save a lot of meter playing this hooligan or Spiral arrow game. Trust me, when Sagat has a little life lead, it’s great to land in a full super.
so i guess my SF4 disc is scratched i’m gonna have to buy another one. but the bad thing is my disconnect rate is like 7% because i (stupidly) kept trying to fight people and it wouldn’t get past the VS screen. Then it would stop.
i’m thinking about just taking it to wal-mart and saying it’s defective. they’ll take anything back. lol

Yeah I consider this the Cammy player lounge. I post things mostly Cammy related but I don’t think it matters. I like Cammy community inside SRK. There’s a lot of mean people on here…

lol that true, but if u do player matches it wont show % ratio and that matches should be added to overall count and decrease your dc % since i dont think sf4 makes difference between ranked/championship/unranked matches stats

There are a lot of elitists here on SRK. It’s just a pain to go bother those guys. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s just uncalled for.
vs sagat you can walk forward and fierce or mp his jump ins when u see them coming. as long as your somewhat under him just a tad for the up close versions of either punch to come out, ive always stuffed his jump ins. In terms of strategy i wont say one is better than the other, however I will say what ever strat you use, IMO cammy is at her best vs sagat (or anyone lol) once he’s in the corner. If you have bar he really can’t throw tiger shots, and if you have ultra its even more of a risk. Use his height to your advantage, you can feint crossups with early ex c. strikes, so he’ll be blocking for a crossup lk, and will get hit in the face. On knockdowns, I do alot of last minute back dashes to fish out wakeup tiger uppers.
Always stand block tiger knees like seikyu said, especially in the corner, they will try to ex tiger knee to cross you and get out of the corner, this only works if you crouch block. If your gonna jump best bet is FP early to stuff Forward RH. This often trades to DP’s though so use your own judgement when to use it. But after you stuff one or two it can give you room to empty jump if he switches to DP, because of its short range. If they know how to kara into specials, then safe jumping probably wont be possible.
That to me is a pretty fundamental way to approach him, success varies dependent upon each of our individual skills in terms of constant controlled offense, mix ups, and when to turn it up and turn it down. oh yea and execution lol.

oh, as an added bonus…that cute girl in my class has a fuckin boyfriend. She was sick flirting with me too then she showed me a picture. God damn
anyway been offline for a while working my stick game on sfiv. Decided to enter a local torueney at a small store. Much to my suprise there was over 20 ppl at this small store. I took 2nd overall tho all the players were actually not half bad. I beat a sagat player and a solid ryu. ( i believe the ryu didnt know cammy play at a slightly higher then average level) i did get to land a CS fadc Cs fadc(b) ultra to win a match as so epic! And i lost to a rufus player! yes rufus beat me but he was very good. That galatic tornado is just so safe. Every time i tried to poke him i ate a messiah kick. Close match everyone was suprised to see someone play cammy there. Lots of ryu/sagat one rufus2 boxers 1 dictator and 1 claw (lol). Overall very fun i still wount come online fo another week or so i still want to perfect my stick skills so see you all soon. especially you stein and dodgers!
p.s. i could have easily lost to that sagat player but i guess being patient and waiting for him to screw up worked in my favor.
