So the height restriction “buff” doesn’t actually do anything because cammy always wants to CS later in her jump anyway to make it crossup?

Is the recovery nerf noticeable? I want to try her out and I can spend some time practicing setups but I don’t want to have to grind daily to be able to do her vortex fairly reliably.

Well then you won’t be able to vortex at all.

I guess people are just stupid when they go “OMG CAMMY SO EZ” though I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised.

Her “vortex” if you can call it a vortex off spiral arrow knockdowns is really situational. Your opponent has to quickrise as fast as possible and you have to use specific combos to fix a range (kinda like ibukis neckbreaker knockdowns vs tsumuji knockdowns).
If your opponent doesn’t quickrise you can dive back but that timing can be pretty tough. You can’t really “see” the right moment. You have to get a feeling for the timing which is imo the hardest part.
and on top of everything it’s all character specific.

Too many characters dang it

I used to favour cammy vs ryu in ae2012, but now feel cammy vs ryu (esp turtle ones) are really hard now. as her dive kick are nerfed so much on recovery , u can’t apply pressure any more, and once they escape you have to start losing some health to get in.

what makes cammy/hugo 6.5? you like can’t jump or divekick against him at all, no vortex whatsoever too

It feels like he completely loses the neutral against her. It’s interesting to see though that you put gouken together with Yun. Wasn’t that matchup 7:3 in cammys favor in AE 2012 ? It feels like he still gets completely rekt because cammy can bypass his neutral pretty good and his wakeup game isn’t too good either outside of kongo and EX Tatsu.

So I’m not the only one who thinks she still slightly beats Gief? Said it amongst some other players and they were like “LOL WHAT?”.

I think gouken was in the 5.5 ranges by the end of ae2012. not only we had damage and stun. but also there was no delayed wakeup no red focus AND EX tatsu didnt hit crouchers. we still had to deal with ex counter and ex flip (armor/dive). However, overall cammy got more rewards for guessing right than gouken. Now its not the case anymore. (remember this is an early evaluation that will change overtime as the matchup is further explored).

reasoning vs Gouken rate being 4.5 in gouken favor:

  1. wakeup: i feel 2 (maybe 3) characters are currently having the best wakeup options in usf4. i personally feel that Gouken … is number1!.
  • standard: backdash, fa backdash, fa+tech, red focus.
  • standard: delayed wakeup then reversal/backdash/fa/ fa backdash, fadc+tech, red focus.
  • reversal: counter. ex counter.
  • reversal: ex tatsu hits crouching. that he can fadc.
  • reversal: ex flip (guess again either armor/dive).

Pressuring gouken has become harder and a pure guess everytime you try to apply oki. the gouken player (with meter) has more and more options to pick and choose from. and even if you guess correct. there is no clear advantage from knockdowns other than corner push.

  1. normals and ground game: when it comes to neutral game. his sweep is NOW the best sweep in sf4. (used to be Akuma. but that got nerfed). its extremely fast. safe (only thing that punish it is chuns super in the ranges crhk is used). and amazing reach. its an amazing whiff punisher vs cammy normals.

sweep alone > cammy normals.

his sweep is lol 6startup (why. please capcom tell me why this sweep is 6f) 3active  18recovery  and only -3 on block. to beat this you either whiff punish it with 100% focus on footsies using far hk (goodluck!). or pre emptive jump early ex strike (its a guess that costs 1bar, gouken can ex tatu/fa lvl2/ultra).

or play the FA dash/release game. which could lead to unecessary damage if guessed wrong.

his focus attack is unchanged. its still great. . the thing about his focus. crmk xx arrow whiffs. far mp xx arrow doesnt reach in the ranges where his FA is optimal. dealing with it is unconventional in comparison to other focus attacks. … now add red focus to the mix.

  1. Nerfs:

mainly reduced stun and damage in addition to no reward for oki for cammy. while gouken gained more escape options. his damage and stun has not been changed overall and remained the same. his crlp is now 3f. his crmp connects into fb. his ex tatsu been buffed both hitbox and startup to 5frames from 7 and it hits crouchers.

  1. AA:

Crhp and sthp are good aa. crmk is good aa. ex tatsu is an AMAZING AA against cammy.

Interesting. EX Tatsu is definitely good but it’s always been that good though. I also remember getting hit by EX Tatsu when I tried to cr.LK him on wakeup. Unless it was a low profile move or a move that shrinks your hitbox somehow (Makoto Overhead) the EX Tatsu didn’t really whiff. Also I mentally consider EX Kongo and EX Tatsu to be one reversal in normal oki situations.

His sweep is also mad good but it’s not that hard to catch with far.HK. He has a big hitbox and if you anticipate it, it’s pretty okish to whiffpunish. Bisons s.MK still gives me more problems in that regard.
If you can whiffpunish a shotos cr.MK then sweep shouldn’t be tooo hard imo. cr.MP xx fireball combos but on block it’s not a blockstring. s.HP is meh, never saw people use it too much but I really don’t see how it’s a good poke.

His only good antiair against cammy is EX Tatsu. You can divekick the other ones with either EX or well spaced normal divekicks.

yea he does but what about once he gets in, cammy has to guess, can’t dp even with meter because they can read it and backbreaker, can’t backdash, if you block command grab, hell he can even clap OS backbreaker, i dont see it being in cammys favor at all. I played a few high level hugos, they do have a hard time getting in but once they are in man oh man

yes worst matchup, i lose to a lot of dee jays, just b/c I can beat you, don’t mean I can beat all dee jays, like I beat you, the player, not the character; can’t jump on him in neutral if they have a charge b/c of upkicks, great AA normals , fast recovery on fireball, counters cammy in so many ways, lol what the hell you doing here anyway, go back to the deejay forums j/k

for the life of me I cant rate the Thawk matchup. like every time I think of spire I get a headache. lol.
