The thing about Championship Mode is that you don’t start losing points for losing until G1, and even then it’s only if you lose the first battle. And you don’t even lose that much compared to how much you get if you win. If you play CM a lot, eventually, you’re gonna get in G1. That makes the G rankings a terrible measure of skill.

If you have to use online points as a measuring stick, you’d be better off using BP. It’s still not the end-all determinant of skill, but it’s WAY more accurate than GP. It doesn’t matter how much you play Ranked. Unless you’re beating opponents with more or close to the same amount of BP, you won’t be moving up the leaderboards quickly at all. Also, you get punished severely for losing to someone with a lot less points than you. It works recursively in providing a semi accurate measure of skill.

^and its not just that GP is as much as a measure of how much time you put in as how well you play (maybe even more so), its also the quality of people you play to get there. If you got to G1 playing srk mashers who aren’t used to Vega, you could have gotten used to some bad habits. Even though getting to G1 as Vega can be said to require a decent amount of skill, the same can’t be said for getting to G1 as Ryu, or Sagat, or Balrog, so the ones you practice against in G1 might not be that great.

You’d probably be better off sending fight requests to the good players in each character’s sub-forum and see how you do against them.

Sorry bro but i gotta disagree with you on that…I didnt use BP as a measuring stick on purpose because I know for a fact that many people who have high BP got it from cheating the system when SF4 first came out and Iam sure many will agree with me on that.In the beginning people abused the BP system by quiting on peope thus racking up huge amounts of BP while losing nothing and alot of people knew this was going on but there was no way to see it except for while in the middle of the game and your about to win and all of a sudden CONNECTION LOST!..Yet there was no way to prove it till Capcom released an update patch later on which I would say helped but after that I dont think people played ranked matches as much afraid that theyde lose there high BP that they had cheated to get in the first place…but the BP system still needs alot of work…seriously now…how many of you guys still play ranked matches?..I know i dont…for the simple fact that it doesnt make any sense for me anymore…I have nothing to gain but A POINT and 128 to lose if iam defeated somehow.
But the Championship point system is pretty accurate i would say…there is no way for people to steal points…every point that you have…you have earned respectfully by winning championships…You gotta win to get to G1…theres no other way

You’re so cute!!

As long as you win the FIRST match in CM, you’ll gain points if you lose the 2nd match. It might take you forever to get to G1 ,and the game has been out a while now on console, but it’s doable. Lose the first match and VOILA, zero punishment to your GP.

So, GP imo isn’t really a measurement of direct skill… just that you have some time invested in whichever character you play, which I guess to an extent could be translated to some skill. You’ll just have seen the DP mashers before.

So in other words basically your saying that the tougher Ryus Sagats and Balrogs are in G4 and G3…it doesnt make any sense bud?..now u might disagree and say no theyre not…lol…then where are are they?
It only makes sense that the better players are going to be on top…but everyone plays the same…one individual does not get easy opponents while another one gets hard ones…if that were the case then id see your point bud…the system is randomized so sometimes you might get someone whos easy for you and at other times someone whos much harder…but never the less…ITS THE SAME FOR EVERYBODY!..and trust me the higher u climb up the ladder the more difficult it gets…ask anyone whos in G1…and Ryus Sagats and Balrogs are tough from the beginning so u can just imagine what they can do in G1…those characters have so many weapons so in actuality…it only gets harder and harder for a Vega my friend…NEVER EASIER !

Yes I know what you mean…but a great player will eventually get there using nothing but his own skill which is the only way u can do it

Just have to hope they learn more than special spam in the time it takes to get G1 eh?

  1. I do not understand this topic
  2. I agree with Headtap; read: Blackhawkxdown
  3. I do not understand why you’re bumping it in threads that were extremely old? seriously, don’t bump threads that have rightfully disappeared. we try to use this forum for information.

I clicked on this thread guessing it was some sort of propaganda message or some shit. Guess not.

he still doesnt understand what we are trying to say.

dude kamisxy,

yout criteria reads “must be atleast g1,no exceptions” which is literally the dumbest way of disregarding great vega players who simply chose not to play the cm and ranking mode.so yeah, you could possibly say that a g1 vega has his own share of experience…but its just plain stupid to think that a non g1 ranked vega cannot be good.

Here’s an idea, OP. It’s late December and SSF4 isn’t scheduled until early April. Instead of making a team of Vega players for an online match mode that nobody has used yet, how about you forget this topic until April and just practice what you can in SF4? Seriously, just get gamer tags from around the forums and practice. Setting up this team thing isn’t going to help in the long run.

So true, not only that but the reverse can be said…
If you spend most time grinding on the points, it doesnt mean much. I remembered fighting a scrubby vega who had 41k gp with my guile and he was just izuna-ing and poking…not to mention backflipping like a madman.

Anyhow, I’m g1-e for many months now because i haven’t been playing championship at all and lag isn’t just my cup of tea… Instead I play in the arcades and at NCBA which is a godlike set-up for sf4 vs others… Vega is so hard to play with lag… Damn you 2 frame combos!

since im on psn now i guess you can hit me up

ill be down to play sometime after christmas, i’ll have my stick and all that good stuff ready to go by then.

oh and i was one of the first vegas along with knucklez into g1 on xbl, but i literally havent put SF4 into my ps3 yet.

All right man! I need more guys like you !

:tup:Expect an add shortly soldier and an invitation to fight soon.Reporting to Duty this Christmas Eve… Wow what a guy!
(results will be posted when available)
NOTE : You are to send a FRIEND ADD titled TEAM VEGA to any future players on VEGAS LIST and may publish your fights here as well as future team battle experiences that well all be apart of soon…All look forward to being on the same team…this will help because not all of us will be online at the same time ALL THE TIME but still we all know each other and will team up online allways ensuring an endless supply of deadly Vegas on hand

I’m definitely one of the better Vegas on PSN but I gots no G1. Sorry.

Ok iam getting alot of people saying this now so its beginning to make me think a lil differently on selecting great Vega Players…makes me kinda feel like iam passing a few by along the way that I should be picking up.If you guys think your good and say your good then ill believe you because I have no reason not to and iam a firm believer of the saying that everyone deserves a chance…so with that being said Iam gonna be making some changes to VEGAS LIST and some ajustments. Now I feel better judgement is just to see for myself as well as for everyone else to see and decide.

Ok so your not G1 then what are you?

G1 no longer a requirement - CRITERIA UPDATE !!!

I felt as if I was passing up some great players so hence the change…so after listening to the fans…lol

From the beginning my goal was to bring us more closer together as a team but after listening to what some of you guys had to say I felt like changes were needed…and for future reference id love to continue to have your input…as VEGAS LIST isnt just for me but for all you guys as well…**TEAM VEGA

Gathering up the troops isnt easy…Its like a well built machine…you encounter a couple of obstacles on your way there but…some tweaking and a fine tuned suspension and we should be golden.
