What day/time are the meetups normally held?
How do I obtain the location?

Experienced players do volunteer information. What none of us are willing to do is endlessly repeat the same lessons. If you come seeking instruction, then at least be prepared to do your part, aka homework. Lab time. Situational analysis of videos. Learn to internet.
God, the entitlement complex is just so out there in these posts. People work and go to school full time and still find time to play here and there. Do you know how many times me and Tak beat James’s ass before he was taking a single game in MVC? Do you know how many times CB beat me before I was taking games in MVC2, where you REALLY need to do your HWK?
What separates players like James from players like you is work ethic. I am going to use James as a textbook case for how to do things as a new player (in the context of mvc).
James has improved dramatically in marvel. Why?
- James asked, and asks, the questions I mention above.
- James makes efforts to show up.
- James listens to feedback about what he is doing wrong and where he could improve. i.e. if I tell him what to avoid, he makes a demonstrable effort to recognize the situation and choose different methods of escaping it than those who made him pringles.
- When he comes to Gonq or FCent, he consistently plays out his 3/5 sets and camps out for the next set when he loses, taking the time to think about why he lost. He doesn’t disrespect the time of others.
- When there are no people in line for stations, he asks for ft10s instead of playing an endless streak of random games.
- When he is at home and has time, he labs situations, works on confirms, combos and movements.
- He sometimes captures his match footage on his little stream device and watches it.
Does James always improve the same amount? No. Does he sometimes seem to not get better in a week? Sure. But there are weeks where there seems to be a quantum leap in where his ability is at, and that is why I still routinely ask James if he would like to play some Marvel. He has demonstrated that he is a worthwhile time investment. He does not feel ENTITLED to it. He WORKS for it.
Thank you for clarifying regarding how the TO/MTL FGCs operate. You must be best buds with Snafoo! Oh wait, you play airdashers. I do not pretend to know much about MAD or the Toronto counterpart, but I have obviously missed out on something critical in my 7-odd FGC years. Apparently I had it all wrong and it is just a regular kumbaya campfire outside the cold-hearted 613 -_-.
When you are in the GTA, does Eric Hai call you out for some sick 5 hour lessons on how he beat Tokido? Does Chi Rithy send you texts to come out and learn when he goes to Foonzo? Who are you close with there? How many of the ACTUAL (read: private) level-up sessions have you been to that you can form the oh-so-learned opinion that TO has an inclusive scene?
