Any Fei Long, Ken, or Chun-Li users? I feel like my only good SF4 character is Ryu, and I hate that. I need a tutor or something. I can’t even do Fei Long c MK, QCF+P, ffs!
Oh, so you use c MP instead of c MK into QCF+P with Fei Long then? Or does he only have c LK as a low off of a jump-in?
Cool Pritz, I like the character, but I SSUUCCKK! I learned a few basics from my SSF4 Prima Guide, and SFxT Guide. s MP is good, fast walking speed, HCB+K overhead. But I still need work.
My main weakness in Street Fighter though is block strings. I simply can not EVER do a block string into a special move. It is simpply too hard for me. That is what I really want to learn how to do.
Fei’s close mp and close mk are also cancel-able.
His bnb is cr. lk, cr. lk, cr. lk, cr. lp, rekka.
His stand light punches don’t hit on crouching opponents.
You are kind of mixing your fighting game lingo. SF4 doesn’t have just frames, just links.
The Fei combo mentioned above is all chains and 1frame links. The reason you are having trouble doing the cancel is probably because you are hitting the buttons too fast and doing chains. You can’t special cancel a normal if you chained into it. You have to do it slower for the last hit and do the 1 frame link. Once you are linking the last hit you can cancel it into a rekka.
I have to sympathize with Forest’s troubles on AE, since when I played it (before I figured, I should just hold back and learn USF4 instead when it comes out), was stuff like that, but Sakura issues instead of Fei ones, since I was trying to do the ones with the weak hurricane kick into and out of attacks type thing. Though, it’s also odd since sometimes I swear a bunch of things are minus on hit, or minus if you counter something with them, which seems odd to me. The Tekken style for combos and the BB or P4A style just seem more familiar and to make more sense for how I play. Jury’s still out on Marvel though.
Yeah thanks guys. And I mentioned I want to use Ken too, but Ken is similar to Fei Long in SF4, all block strings to special move combos. Ken’s zoning is one of the worst in SF4, really. His normals don’t anti-air well, aside from c HP. If they jump in on me out of MP Shoryuken range, not much Ken can do about it, especially since Shinyuken is so slow now.
Chun is just a leggy girl character, so thats why I want to learn her, heh. Lightning Legs is her primary combo move, so I will need to learn the piano technique.
If they’re outside of Shoryu range, you can AA with far.MP in some cases… or just backdash… or low profile their aerial with cr.MK.
Also, Ken is not like Fei. Ken’s timing windows are faaaar more lenient. He’s a much easier character to get a solid thing going with. In some cases, he has like 5 frame windows.
I think your trouble is that you haven’t internalized how cancels work. <_<
You need to input the special move before the connecting active frame is done (Plus hitstop, I think), and you can’t cancel chained normals (Save for Target Combos). The rest is getting proper link timing, something you don’t have to deal with in Tekken (Save for height-specific juggle timing and Just Frames) thanks to super-ultra-massive input buffers. O:
I blame fighting games tho, bankshotv2. Super closeup win poses and replays with upskirt have changed me. Not my fault, damn it!
Cool Krackatoa, so what do I do? I tried practicing for a long time, but I seem to never make any progress, I just keep missing it.
I got owned by a lot of players online today, too. Thinking of giving up SF4 now…blah. I can do Ken jump in crossup LK or MK to c LK (x3), which I mix up with a grab. At least thats something.
I think you’re trying to link the wrong moves here. You’re supposed to go from cr.LK to chained cr.LP or s.LP which gives more frame advantage before trying to link into cr.MK (Or cancel a cr.LP into linked cr.LP cancelled into DP)
Try these:
cr.LK,cr.LP,far.LP > cr.MK xx EX Tatsu (4 frame link)
cr.LK,cr.LP > cr.MK xx Hadouken (2 frame link)
cr.LK,cr.LP > cr.LP xx HP.Shoryuken (3 frame link)
His Standing LPs (Far standing and close standing) gives like +7 on hit. His cr.LP gives +5. cr.LK is only +3, making it nearly impossible to link from.
cr.MK starts up in 4 frames, making it really easy to link.
