What is the SFxT scene like in Ottawa? I was at HQ playing random SF4, and I asked if there was a copy of SFxT.
After lots of searching, it was discovered that HQ had no SFxT copy. I was surprised, because the game has been out for at least a year, and it is the 3rd most popular 2-D game in current tournaments, after UMVC3 and SF4.
I recently picked up the game, along with Soul Calibur 5. SC5, admittedly, has died, but for $20 at Best Buy for each game, it was a good deal…$40 for the 2 newest fighters, aside from TTT2, which came out more recently than both those games, of course.
I want to learn both games, but I have very little knowledge of them.
I play both SFxT and SCV (Add it to the laundry list of games I “play”). It’s always there at the Algonquin meets. We have some SCV guys on campus. Actually, it’s just me and one other guy. We’re both pretty ass. I just spam Yoshi’s iMCF. Need more practice in both games.
SFxT is really easy to pick up. SCV, also VERY easy if you understand Tekken-ish engines (Roll system, ukemis, frame advantage, high-crush, low-crush). An afternoon on 8wayrun will give you a gameplan that’s easy enough to execute on, just stay away from Alpha Patroklos and Just-Frame Twisters, unless you’re a robot.
I can do cheap things to people in SFxTekken.

Daymn, really? The combos in the game look super complicated. So many Tags mid combo, as weel as things like Ryu d+MP, d+MP, Shoryuken, and thats just easy stuff. I see team-up Supers mid combo, after the mid combo Tag outs, too, crazy stuff going on.
I do think a 3-D guy like me will have more trouble with SFxT than a 2-D guy, for sure. Things like block strings, one frame linking low Short, Short into special moves are things I can not do. My Ryu just does j, MK, c. MK, Fireball, heh.
Only 2 ass SC5 players, huh? I guess I expected that kind of participation for a dead game. TBH, I do not really like the game. I just think I would be good at it since I have such a big 3-D background in Tekken, like you said.

I usually bring SCV with me when I go to HQ. We can hog a station for a couple rounds if you’d like. HQ doesn’t have the update though.

Just going to say awesome shit with whoever got the venue for that April tourney. That looks hype as hell. As always, I’d hope for a Blazblue tourney or side tourney in there, but it’s all good and I dunno what the guys running it’s thoughts on side tourneys are.

I’m thinking about picking up Skullgirls for PS3 since the 360 version will probably never get patched. Would anyone be able to spar with me online?
Also, a bit off topic, but does anyone here have MH3U on the 3DS? I’m looking for some dudes to play local multi with (3DS version doesn’t have online). Everywhere else I’ve looked is full of aspergers. D:
Track down Johnny (FreezerB) for both of these. He assburgers pretty hard though.
And no, no one plays SFxT because it’s slow and boring. Same reason almost no one around here plays 4 anymore. Ottawa only has an attention span for Marvel it seems.
There’s more sf4 players than marvel players in this town… just sayin yo damn.
